yes, the same thing happens to me too. But I've always put it down to
my ISP. I've been with them since 1997 and many iterations of their
service. They create new mail servers but then set up redirection
from new to old, which is both erratic and forgotten about. I have to
check 4 different pop servers to get all my mail - some of the servers
seem to leave the odd message behind.

As to why the subject gets deleted - perhaps thats a feature of TB,
which is probably being more clever than is good for it (heck, if the
user doesn't understand its tricks then the kudos gets lost doesn't
 it).

 Tom

How to send to more than one group, but.....

2001-12-15 Thread Cyril MALKA

Hello tbudl,

I have som groups in my address-book. Some people are members of more
than one group.

Now, I would like to send a message to the people members of group A,
B and C (for example), BUT, I would also like that the people members
of group A and B still receive only one letter, not two... As some
people are members of 10 groups, they might get a bit annoyed (I
think!)

Is it possible? In this case, how? Anyone?

Filtering based on address book groups

2001-12-15 Thread Ottar Grimstad

Hello TBUDL:

I have created a folder for the activities concerning an
organisation I am member of. I would like mails from and to people
belonging to a special addressbook group to be filtered to this
folder, so that I would not have to change both the incoming and an
outgoing filters each time the group gets or loses a member.

I vaguely remebmer reading a message some time ago from someone who
did just this, but cannot find it in the archive. (a search for
  filter yelded 2500 hits).

It ought to be possible from within The Bat, but the only way I have
found is turning off the sound for Exclamation mark in Windows

2001-12-15 Thread Jrn Zietz

Hallo Michael,

I installed the bat, registered it and am using it. When I use it,
it makes a little noise every time it checks the mail or sends the
mail. I have turned off all sounds and set the availalbe time for
sounds to 0:00-0:00. I want this program to be 100% quite. How do
   I do it?

If it is a bing it might be that there occured an error while
looking for mail. The reason for the error can be found in the
logfile, which is made for each account. Pressing ctrl+shift+A
will open the log of the current accunt.

Perhaps you should first check spelling of Pop-server (and username).
Have you recieved any mail at this account?

BTW: The configurable sounds are played only when you *receive* a
message.

HTH.

I think it is not possible. You should have each address only once in
your addressbook anyway, because the AB level templates don't work
otherwise.

True, but one entry can be associated with any number of groups.

mass mailing question

2001-12-15 Thread Scott Frederick

Hello TBUDL,

I need to do a mass mailing to about 50 addresses and I need to
merge one field besides the address into each message. I have read the
help file on mass mailing and it calls for setting up a group for the
mailing. I don't really want to do that because I only need this list
once or twice.

I have the list in a text file In the form:
value1
address1

value2
address2

and so on.

Is there any way I can call up the values from the file or do I have
to manually set up 50 address book entries?

Re: To-Field Entries Of Address Groups

2001-12-15 Thread Ottar Grimstad

16. desember 2001 Edward König wrote on TDUDL:

EK How can I avoid to appear _all_ of the addresses of an address
EK group in the to-field of the message, instead of _only_ the alias
EK name?

Put all the adresses in the BCC-field (you may have to use the
View-menu in the editor to make this header visible). I think there
must be one legal adress in the To-field. You could use
  listname your emailadress

There is also a mass mailing feature you might want to check out.
You must first create your message as a template. Then you select
the group you want from the address book and choose mass mailing
using template from the file menu. This will create several
individual adressed messages to the recipients.
