Messages are moving through it all the time. It is not good practice to use Inbox as a long-term message store. 2) The Inbox should be emptied and compressed once in a while. 3) If *ever* a folder shows a "corrupt" message there is a sequence I *always* go through: a) Move all of the surviving messages to another folder. b) Empty the folder c) Exit TB. d) Use Windows Explorer to locate the folder and delete the messages.tbb and messages.tbi e) Open TB f) Click on the empty problem folder (to recreate the folder files and index g) Move the messages back in. This sequence will "flush" any inherent problems in the tbb file, which has clearly hit a problem somewhere. - -- Cheers -- .\\arck D. For example, in this table: COL 1 COL 2 COL 3 = == == Value 1.1 Value 1.2 Value 1.3 Value 2.1 Value 2.2 Value 2.3 Most times, to move to the next column, you just need to press Tab. Message window not updating in XP
I just installed TB 1.60m under XP Pro and the message window does not work. It displays a few messages fine but then stops being updated -- whatever I select, it still show an old message. If I bring another window in front of it, when I close that window, part of it's contents are displayed in TB's message window. I've tried minimizing and restoring TB and going to other folders. Sometimes I can open a new message window and it will work for a few messages. The only thing that works is to close and reopen TB. This happens when viewing messages in both the preview pane and the message window. The part of the window with the From, To, Subject is fine, but the message area is not. Procmail (I use a lot on linux) allows you to do some nifty filtering using OR statements... like this: :0: * ^Subject:.\/Access World - Development:\/(US|Other) $MATCH This would end up dumping anything that matched the US country into the folder "Access World - Development: US" and anything matching Other into "Access World - Development: Other". If this is the point you're trying to make then clearly I disagree. If this isn't the obvious point you're making then I'm being dense. Please explain further. I'm curious. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.60m | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iD8DBQE87QHfV8nrYCsHF+IRAqqzAKCuu2zzo+NQ9ngslNqfl46xvOQKNwCfRQd4 aHVu1d1YPTE2KPzzZAdgIgI= =3MxO -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.60m FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

Hello... First off, do not put words in my mouth. You do not know of what you speak. I am amazed at all the people who took offense to my post. I got a lot of off-list emails from some not so happy humans. I am sorry if you all took my post to be some sort of insult on all the people who have problems. Looking at my original post, I see some sort of statement such as this: "I know that means nothing to those that do seem to have issues..." I am tired of seeing so many posts from people spewing that "TheBat! did this evil thing to my system", or "If this isn't fixed, I am going back to FREE OE blah blah.." Reading through the past two weeks, I don't see a lot of positive remarks about TheBat! so I posted one. I hear people at work talking bad about TheBat!, I hear people on the list talking bad. I was tired of it and I posted, what I thought was positive, remarks on my years of use of TheBat! I made an attempt to defend what I think is a GREAT product. Far much more than any other email client. Now go get some coffee and stop worrying that I may have somehow tried to insult you. In general, it's adequate for most home users, because most home users don't know there are many options. I got 3 virus alert warnings this week about viruses that target a small bug that was supposed to have been fixed by MS in OE4. If they cannot fix that, then the chances are, there are probably some bigger ones lurking around. I used to use MailWarrior [www.kaufmansoft.com] for a fair bit of time, until it decided to dump all my mail because of a read error. I had previously stated that I migrated through three versions without any problems. That is different than saying that I have not found any problems in the software. Some people who tend to "break" software more than others are not necessarily using it in more imaginative ways, but have just not become "trained" in the bug-free path through the software. It is often less a result of imagination and more a result of newbieness that a user will stray into the bug-laden areas of a program. And then there is also the factor of how predisposed the user will be to mention the problems. As the user base increases, imagination plays steadily decreasing role. Focus on starting TB
Hello tbudl, I have been having occasional problems with TB when I first start it. The main program window will not take focus, so although the Window is there, I cannot do anything with it. Strangely, I can right click and bring up the context menu, but again can get no further. The Message Ticker works, and double-clicking brings up the folder view, but I cannot select messages - buttons will pop out when the mouse travels over them, but cannot be clicked. I have checked for the obvious things - there are no out of view TB windows that have taken the focus (none that I can find anyway) and Alt-Tab does not bring up any windows that I could not see. When this happens, the only solution seems to be to close down TB and start it again. Any ideas? -- Best regards, Julian mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.60m on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current Ver: 1.60m FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

R> did this evil thing to my system", or "If this isn't fixed, I am going R> back to FREE OE blah blah.." The Bat! seems to be a very simple piece of software but it is just that...software. All software is subject to problems in one way or another. I think the place to point the blame would be on these peoples specific machines. Most of the time it has been my experience that clients machines are screwed up with to begin with. Regarding a machine with MS, if you don't tend to rebuild them once or twice a year you are bound for problems. Don't waste you time trying to isolate problems, back up your data and rebuild! I am in the anti virus business. Clients come to me with infected machines and wonder why? "I have an anti virus program". Come to find out it is an inept program that hasn't been updated or dealt with in 6 months. You can't blame the software for your lack of knowledge. Don't know where I was going with this but I just had lunch and needed to burn it off. ;o) -- Pete Thursday, May 23, 2002 12:04:52 PM This e-mail is brought to you by: The Bat: Version 1.60m Windows 2000 build 2195 Service Pack 2 Current Ver: 1.60m FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

Version chaos
Hi: I am somewhat confused with regard to Ritlabs' current TB release policy. Right now, there are so many updates/bugfixes for 1.60 that I have no clue which version to use. According to the German distributor of TB, version 1.60d is the best, most stable, must bugfree - whatever. That's why he has designated it to be the official version of the German TB distribution package. According to Ritlabs, however, 1.60m must be the version to go with. Having read that that version supposedly has a GDI leak, I cannot believe that Ritlabs would offer such a version to new users, hell, even old hands and make it available for download on their official site. Messages Not Getting Deleted on POP Server
Howdy TheBatUsers, I've been using TB since Sunday and have noticed a recurring problem for the past two or three days. When I have large amounts of mail it doesn't get deleted from the mail server. I have "delete received messages from server" checked under the Message Management section of the account properties for each of my four accounts. It deletes the mail most of the time, but usually not when I have lots of mail to download (200+, for example). This has happened three times today. The first time I had about 245 messages to download. The next time I had about 280, then the next time just over 300. The latest batch was 378 to download. Lots of dupes to delete. Hello... I have had this issue twice, on pre 1.6x versions, and I found it to be an issue with the mail provider.
