Sorry, but I have to disagree. I use PGP 6.5.8ckt version, and tried
the plugin for some time. In the end I went back to the using the tray
as it was just as quick and was what I was used to. The difference in
time it takes to carry out any operation using either the plugin or
the tray/hotkeys is negligible in my opinion.

I know Thomas has already posted a solution, but to make it simpler for
those confused by all commands, type the following at a command prompt
or in a batch file:

regedit.exe /e thebat.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\RIT

Change "thebat.reg" to whatever you want, including a path if you do not
want the file to end up in the current directory.

Amon, the white box with the red cross, scans every file opened, created
or executed. These actions are configurable. Pages from the net, as
such, are not scanned as far as I'm aware by any AV. Viruses only do
their thing if the file containing them are executed. If I'm wrong on
this I'm sure I'll be corrected :-)

There's no separate web module, nor any need for the extra resource
use. The "Amon" module, which is the real-time scanner, can be set to
scan any combination of the following file events:  open; execute;
create; and rename. Those should cover Internet downloads as well,
particularly if the option to scan archive files (such as .zip files)
is enabled.

CW> Is there also a part that scans for trojans?

Any of the better "antivirus" programs scans for more than just
viruses. They scan for malicious code; some of those codes are
viruses; some (a lot) are worms; and some are trojans. There are
those who will say that a trojan scanner is a good backstop defense to
run along with an AV program. If you're interested in that, you might
check out TDS. Others have decided that the resource usage is too
great a price to pay when you can have a good "AV" program and a good
firewall, and thereby keep both an effective perimeter and an
effective code-killer.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It's never really bothered
me, so I've never checked to see what causes it.

What happens is if you have it threaded by reference in ascending
order (like created date), and you are on a single message (non
thread), with a threaded message above it, then you do something like
delete that single message, it will automatically expand the thread
that was right above it and focus on the last message in that thread.
e.g.

+ Some other threaded messages
+ Some threaded messages
A single message not in a thread

If you delete "A single message not in a thread", it looks like this:

+ Some other threaded messages
- Some threaded messages
  + Some sub thread
  - Another sub thread
Message that gets focus

I don't know if that's considered bad behavior or not. I guess if it
bugs you, then it is.

I think Allie might have the solution when he said to sort decending
instead of ascending, but I prefer to read top down in threads (newer
messages at the bottom), vs. non-threads, which I do in descending
order (new messages at the top).

What I generally do when reading threads in to look at the first
message in a thread, then holding the shift key down, I hit the right
arrow, this opens the thread, focuses the next message in the thread,
and highlights those two messages, and I continue doing this till the
whole thread is then expanded and highlighted, then I hit the delete
key which deletes the whole thread leaving me focused on the first
message of the next collapsed thread below it.

Works for me!

Cheers,
Leif Gregory

Yes, imagine a filter trojan that just deletes your email for you, all
because you imported someone else's filters without looking at them.
I'd prefer to mark-copy-paste. It can be used for bulk-importing, so
why make something new to replace something that doesn't have anything

it.

I think an option to bulk-export would be very nice, and also the

Ok. This means that you aren't using a View Folder window as you

Oh, don't get me wrong. I do see a huge value added in being able to
"export" in some fashion some or even all the filters in an account
which could be e-mailed or such to another machine. I would just
prefer to have some level of interactivity in determining which of the
(such as in my case 50+ filters) to "import".

You've lost me. View/message list? I don't have that option as far as
i can see. And all my settings are the same as for my other folders.
I'm looking at my threads in the "default" lay-out: leftside folder

FYI, because i'm not English, the "View" & "Window" terminology is

In the context of grabbing a filter someone posts, I *totally* agree.
In the context of Alists message where you might be the recipient of
maybe 20 to 30 filters, that's a lot of geek read to decide if it's a
filter you want to "install".

What are you threading by, i.e., references, subject etc.?

What is your sorting order?

Is it the same as that for your other threaded list folders?

I always sort by threads and an in descending order by dates. This
threading method will work only if the list messages reliably
contain reference headers. I'm a member of a couple lists were this
isn't the case so I thread by subject.

How can I create, in an outgoing message, a mailto: link that will
incorporate a specific subject line? I want to create a hot link
that, when clicked by a recipient, will send an email message back to

That's indeed the right answer. Uninstall Mozilla (your profile will

Probably not, but why wait? You do not require a Plugin simply to use
whatever version of PGP or GPG you want. There is a new PGP 8.0 Public
Beta that is out, and by using PGPTray you can use that version with any
Mail Client you want. If on the other hand you want to try GPG, try using
it with GPGShell (PGPTray equivalent) on any Mail Client. Both PGP and GPG
coexist quite nicely on the same Machine.

2002-10-14 Thread Shane R. Monroe

YOUR MAIL HAS BEEN IGNORED! Please read below to see why.

You have emailed me using Carbon Copy (CC) or by using multiple
recipients in the TO: field of your email.

What you are doing is giving MY email address away to all your friends
and everyone you emailed this message to. You are also allowing
computers that relay email from your system to mine the opportunity to
steal and harvest my email for spam purposes. This is a horrible
invasion of my privacy as well as everyone else you emailed. Chances
are likely you didn't know this; that is why everyone who does it gets
this email to help them understand WHY as well as how to repair the
problem.

The proper way to send mail to multiple recipients is via BLIND CARBON
COPY (or BCC) in your email program. I understand not everyone
understands how to do this, so here is a website that will spell it
out for you:

http://www.rrudder.com/safe/bcc.html
(Should this page disappear in the future, please let me know)

The email you sent here was put directly in the trash and this
message was sent in response to it. I did NOT see your email. If it
was important, please send it again.

Please note: If your program sends mail like this: Monroe, Shane
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> then you are triggering this message
invalidly. Please contact me and I'll add you to an exclusion list so
you won't get this again.

Thanks!

As long as Mozilla's Mail application is installed, it is used be
default for mailto: links. There are 2 possibilities to change this
behaviour:

1.) Install Mozilla with a custom installation and leave out the Mail
 client.

2.) Add the following line to your user.js file in your Profiles
 directory:

   user_pref("network.protocol-handler.external.mailto", true);
