I can see where you're coming from and your wish is ok, imho, as long
as functionality is the same. I don't want to miss functionality just
because i can't see to use it, so if we have the same functionality

In your mind, yes. In my mind and that of most others who use it not in
conjunction with TB, ZA is excellent. One app does not a reputation destroy.

MDP> Oh yes, and
MDP> Kerio is free. I don't see why the resistance.

I've paid for the Pro version. I like the interface and trust its protection.
I'm not sure if Kerio offers all the features ZA Pro does. I haven't had time to
check out Kerio and have not discussed it with people who can vouch for it as
much as ZA.

MDP> If ZA works for you,
MDP> fine - stay with it. If it is impeding you, as it has impeded many

I've thought about it. But ZA works for the most part, and if there's a way to
get it working properly with TB I'd rather do that. TB isn't as indispensable to
me. Maybe version 2.0 will change that :)

Ritlabs used to have the motto "communication with the unseen" on

Jeff

I was struggling with this myself when your message came in. I'm not
sure if I've done it right, but what I ended up doing was to select
Alt-F7 to manage accounts. This showed INBOX with a + sign next to it.
Clicking the + sign brings up the default Drafts / Sent items / Trash
_under_ the Inbox folder. Silly of me, but I missed that + sign for a
while and kept trying to create the other folders manually. I was able
to move messages from the Inbox to Inbox/Trash successfully, once the
sync settings were done properly. I haven't got any other folders set
up in my Fastmail account, either on the server or locally, so this
may or may not be what you need. Let me know what else you find out!

Same here. I've played with v2 a bit now, & as you say, there are some
nice features. I was expecting the html editor to be useful, because I
do occasionally want to send html mail, but tbh I'm disappointed with
it. If you highlight text in order to change, for example, the font &
size, you have to highlight it twice - because as soon as you change one
thing, you lose the highlight. And it doesn't appear to be possible to
paste html into the editor - I get an error message when I try that. I
suspect Ritlabs introduced the html editor in order to appeal to a wider
audience, but I don't think this one's going to do it.

On the bright side, the installation, as you say, was a dream - fast &
simple. But while I appreciate that other features are to be added as
time goes on, at the minute I'm probably going to stick with the old
version, because I can't justify paying for new features I don't need
our household income is zero :-/

Nope. I only had it in there once, had it associated with my bat group

Vishal,

Have you checked The Bat!'s account log to see if the account is
actually trying to poll every n minutes? If it is there'll be an entry
there which may give you a hint as to where it's failing.

Set the target folder in the filter rule as Inbox and in the filter
options enable 'continue processing with other filters'. In this way,
the message will go on to be filtered by other rules which will then
move the message to your target folder.

Personally, I think a new skin for TB is a great idea. I've often found myself
wishing for one. As long as there is a default skin that caters to the blind,
having alternatives to spice up TB's otherwise bland interface would be great.

I have ZA's 'E-mail protection' enabled as well. The problem here is that
explicit mail checks using alt-F2 work fine, but the automatic checking every 5
mins does not. I checked the ZA logs and did not see any outgoing connections
blocked at the times of the automatic mail checks. There is also not a delay as
you said, but simply that the checks never occur at all.

Create a special group in your address book (or a special address

'Advanced' filter option of "Sender must be in address book/group".

The user-defined addressbooks are in blue. You can click on Name

The ones in red are for certificates. I choose to ignore them. This is

What do have "layered" between ZoneAlarm and The_Bat!? If you are
running an Antivirus program that either intercepts port 110 or a
plugin for The_Bat! and/or have an antispam program running then you
can expect such delays. From a mail-monitoring firewall to an
antispam plugin, or program, through an AV monitoring port 110 incoming
I would, myself, expect quite a delay in The_Bat! processing mail.
Further any The_Bat! incoming filters you have set will slow the
process down that much more.

Anyway ...

Could you give me a pointer to where to get this plug-in? I tried to

While they do the trick, I would prefer a solution that does not need
yet another active process on my machine.

Yes.

Many have.

A *significantly* larger proportion have *not*.

Kerio is an *excellent* firewall. It works well and in a seamless
manner for all. ZA is a good firewall for many, but not for most.
That precludes it from the "excellence" tag in my mind. Oh yes, and
Kerio is free. I don't see why the resistance. If ZA works for you,
fine - stay with it. If it is impeding you, as it has impeded many
others - get it out of there! :-).

The problem is ZA.

TLS, Bayesit, NOD32 and TB version 2

2003-09-02 Thread Terry
Hi all,

If I upgrade to version 2 and utilize the Bayesian plug-in, will I
also be able to use TLS? And, am I correct in assuming that until Eset
comes up with a NOD32 version 2 plug-in for TB version 2, IMON won't
work with TLS?

I disagree. I think it increases the work and I'd rather get down to reading my
email immediately.

P> It's annoying to have spam or whatever happens to gain focus

Perhaps I prefer it the way it is because I get close to zero spam. But having
to mark messages unread can be a problem, I agree. The way I work around this
(quite effective, if I may add) is to increase the time limit after which a
message is marked read. Change it to around 7-8 seconds. This will give you
enough time to delete spam or move on to the next message if you prefer that
this one remain unread.

Cheers,

Hello MikeD,

I use a beautiful little peice of software (for Bayesian Spam
filtering) that works well with TB (or any mail client) its called K9.
You can get it from www.keir.net/k9.html oh yeah... its free :-)

The Sept-2003 Australian PCUser magazine compared 9 anti-spam software
products. Of the ones that were not list-based, it scored mid-field
with false-negatives at 17% (range was 15% - 20%) and it scored best
of all on false-positives at 0.1% (range was 0.1% to 4.7%).

Enjoy... ;-)

Hi danger,

I am also interested in this. I registered on 27 August. I sent an
email to ritlabs last night, and am awaiting a response. I'm sure they
have many emails to go through this week with the new version coming
out.

As someone had mentioned a few days ago, I had over 20 days left on
the eval period, and I now hope that registering early was not a mistake.

You do have to go out and get it separately. Also the docs have not

Yes, it works just fine for me. But I am on a newer (still beta)

Group Template Reply Problem

2003-09-02 Thread Allen

In my address book, I have separate address book entries for each of
the TB mailinglists, all of which I'm subscribed to. I have them all
placed in a group and have defined a group template. The idea is that
my compose/reply/forward template will be shared amongst them.
Generally, this does work -- but with one problem. When I attempt to
reply to a message in the TBUDL discussion group, it uses my default
account template rather than my TB template. With all 3 of the other
subscriptions, it properly uses my TB group template. I'm quite
certain that all of the addresses in the group are configured the
same, so I'm absolutely stumped as to what might be causing this
behavior. I must be missing something, somewhere, but I can't figure
out what. Any ideas?

Allen
