But the average "corporate user" probably uses 20% of the capabilites of
Outlook/Exchange... imagine what would happen when you confront them with
TB, the macros, the filters... :-}

I had to insert the Sender: header field manually (as X-Sender!) and
I had to save the message into the Outbox to get the Bat! to let me
put my address into the Sender: field.

Well, I sent a copy to myself and the Sender: field was there, but when the
TBUDL list returned it to me, the list manager software had changed it to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (usually considered to be incorrect behavior).

Upon looking into the matter, TB supports the Sender header, but
merely displays it as X-Sender and you don't need to export it to the
Outbox, but you have to check the X-Sender in the editor menu:
  View -> X-Sender

Sorry for this very late response.

This msg here had a very
funny behavior. When I first time moved the cursor to this posting I
saw some writing. But a few seconds later this msg got encrypted. When
just looking with TB! to the posting it seems empty. But Exporting it
and dragging it into an Editor shows very clearly it is encrypted (see
my two attachment).

Honestly, I wonder why there where members that could reply to Jim.
Any Idea?

When I sent this message, I was in the process of getting certified in
thawte's Web of Trust program, and had a provisional certificate. I
since have been authenticated, and changed my certificate to reflect
my actual identity.

I deleted the provisional certificate from PGP, which may have pulled
that public key from servers. I suspect that is why there is a
problem. I don't believe there is a problem with TB.

This could be too simplistic, but you could just create a directory
called Mail Archive, and move the folder for the account that is
currently in the Mail folder, into the Mail Archive folder. You could
then just move it back again when you need to access it. I think you
will have to do something to reinitialize your folder structure in The
Bat!, but I am not sure of which files contain that info. I'm sure one
of the mods would know though.

Yes, I think you have it correct. You can select all msgs in a
folder by clicking in the message list and pressing Ctrl-A. As for
the folder structure, you would have to recreate it in Windows.

Stuart's suggestion of just relocating your TB! folders into a new
Windows archive directory is not a bad one. You would go into
Windows, and move them out of your default directory. When you need
them again, re-import them. This approach keeps you bound to the TB!
file format, which has some long term risk if the messages *must* be
accessible into the future, but otherwise seems fairly
straightforward.

Help With Filter

2004-08-07 Thread Pete Holsberg
I'm having trouble with a filter. Perhaps someone can spot
my error.

Account > Sorting Office/Filters
Read messages > Harvest (that's its name)

Rule

Source: Inbox\04-01
Move messages to folder: Inbox\04-01A

(Question: is there a way to omit the source and just apply
the filter via "refilter current folder"?

Is there a way to omit the destination because I don't
really want to move the messages at all?)

Filtering strings:
StringsFrom:
Location Sender
Presence Yes

Active - checked
Manual only - not checked

Actions
---
Add addresses to Address Book
Items: Sender (From)
Add tp groups: taskvols (this is a folder in the Personal
AB)

Options
---
Regex is checked
Execute on CTRL-SH-F12

(Nothing else is checked)

I close this, go to the Inbox\04-01, click Folder >
Re-filter. It says that it filtered N messages, but when I
look at the AB, nothing has been added.

???

Thanks.

If you mean list server, you have everything you need; just read the
help files.

However, if you need a true mail server (POP3, IMAP, or SMTP), you
will need to find a different program. The Bat! is an e-mail client,
not a server.

BayesIt filtering: Spam error high

2004-08-07 Thread Peter Kerekes
Need some help to improve on Spam filtering.

My ISP is has a spam filter. Based on their default setting I lost to much
mail as spam. I changed it so now 10% of my mail is spam. Which is OK since
I use BayesIt as an internal filter.

The problem is that BayesIt designate to many mails as non-spam.(Spam error
is 20%). I cannot remember any mail which was designated as spam by BayesIt
in error.

Can I change some setting in the advance.ini file or somewhere else to
improve the filtering of Spam mail?

My advance.ini file and information (abbreviated) is below

I haven't much clue what the lines in advance.ini do and therefore do not
want to experiment with it.

Can anyone suggest a change in any settings to improve filtration?

No, but I just remembered that it's an old wish.

Yes, but that involves joining TBBETA. A new filtering system is being
written and tested, and the developers are still taking suggestions. I
would urge you to bring your question up as a suggestion, the timing
has never been better than now. :-) And once they're finished with the
new filtering system, I don't think they'll touch it again for a
while.

Thanks to both Stuart & Joseph. I will give Stuart's suggestion a try first. I have no
current plans to move away from The Bat!, it's just that because of how many old
messages there are, The Bat! takes quite a while to fully get up & running, so I just
wanted them out of the way (seeing as how I can't recall the last time I actually
needed to look at one). Keeping the same folder structure is a bonus. In the future,
if for some reason I need to have a message in another format, I can easily re-import
the messages & then (using Joseph's suggestion), export them. Thanks again guys :-)

I've not tested your filter with "refilter." I used it with your
hotkey. It appears to work fine with the minor modifications I
mention below.

Using the hotkey, leave these at their defaults.

There's no need, with hotkeys, to add a filter for your harvesting
action.

Check Manual also.

Why?

Check "This rule is executed only by pressing the hotkey

If you actually want to process all the mail in a folder, just use
ctrl-a to select all before your hotkey. The normal use, however,
would be to press your hotkey on a message whose sender you want added
to your AB.

Can this be done from a message opened from the message ticker? I've tried to
find the shortcut to change and no joy :-(
