I just make a slightly different card for each address -
I'm not sure if they have to be different, but on good
days I know which addy will come up for each entry - Bill,
Billy, Will .. and then when I start typing the address,
the first one will come up; if it's not the right one, I
hit cont-+ until the right one shows up.

You have to have completion turned on, which is somewhere
in the options, but I don't remember where. I think it may
be turned on by default.

You can also check the boxes in the AB, which will put
those up first.

I hope this is reasonably clear ... it's *way* past my
bedtime ..

If you mean that it's a nuisance to have to have 3
different entries for someone who has 3 email addresses,
yes, it is a nuisance.

I tried putting multiple addies in the field separated by
commas, and to the extent that it will then pop up the
addresses correctly, it worked, as I recall, but it would
be much nicer if you could select just one ...

On the other hand, Cont-+ will cycle all the addresses you
have for a particular person ... it's better than nought
:-)

AB; Multiple E-mail Addresses

2004-09-12 Thread Joseph N.
This is an issue that has come up so many times in different ways
that I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if it's just a blind
spot in an otherwise powerful program.

People have multiple e-mail addresses. It's just the way it works.
But TB! has only one e-mail address field. Yes, I know that more
than one address can be put there, and, yes, I know that addresses
can be put in the notes field. But neither of those options helps
a user to put the one address s/he needs in the correct address
field. And, a much bigger problem from my perspective, is that
there is no way--none--to export contact info from another program
into TB!'s address book so that multiple e-mail addresses are
preserved and also so that notes are transferred.

This is a serious issue IMO, but it has received no attention. Am
I missing some functionality somewhere to workaround this? Or are
others as frustrated as I with the issue?

Could you perhaps have him enable 3.1 in addition to 3.0?

You could also explain the vulnerabilities to him and see if he will
then enable 3.1. Search the Internet for information about the
vulnerabilities:
http://www.google.com/search?q=tls+3.0+vulnerabilities

I have found that explaining the security vulnerabilities to any
normal tech is a good persuasion tool. I would try that; he may end up
switching the whole company.

From Access Violation to program crash

2004-09-12 Thread Quin Selman
Hello tbudl,

This has happened several times now, using what reports to be v.3.0:

When working in Sorting Office, I use ALT + Left Click to drag a
(usually newly created?) folder in the left pane to a new position.
The sorting office entries then speed by uncontrollably until an
access violation at address 00402601 notice pops up. I try to recover
from this but I can't recall what action I must take. Whatever it is,
I get a message saying "Invalid pointer operation." I press OK and get
another AV at a different address than the one mentioned above. More
OK's and the two access violations cycle in a loop. Finally, I must
forcibly shut down The Bat! using CTL + ALT + DEL. (Before shutting
down the program, I notice that all the left pane entries in the
Sorting Office have disappeared. These are restored once TB! is closed
and reloaded.)

This has been reproducible until I began this message; now I can't
reproduce it. But it will probably happen again so maybe I can fill in
the blanks.

Notice I said in my first line that my copy of The Bat! *reports* to
be 3.0. This is because I've repeatedly copied 3.0.0.11 over my
version 3.0. At first, TB! reports v.3.0.0.11 in About but it reverts
to 3.0 when I close and restart The Bat!.

As an addition. When I'm receiving an encrypted message, from a contact

I am sorry to hear this, Rich. I have visited this location last time,
according to my Compass (a bookmark organizer), on 03-04-17 at 22:52:44.
Haven't experienced anything similar. Obviously, the times change, and
this site is not any more for recommendation.

I use small part of its content for making a cookie file for TB, but am
also yesterday informed that now one could find (at the Shakespearian
section) the "f- words" and "ah- words" and even some "worse
combinations" (since it works as a random machine, and it seems someone
feed it badly). These also are the things I couldn't recommend on any TB
list, although "ah- words" are not known to me, in this sense.

The curses I harvested in that time are quite sappy, and gorgeous, but
are not of the sort described above.

I hope that you could get rid of this "Winad Client" easily. If not,
knowing that it is sort of a "client", you would have to leave the
Winblows and restart in MS-DOS, in order to delete the folder content. I
would do a Registry cleaning too (I use RegCleaner for this). I also
have unchecked in IE "Install on demand", if it helps in situations when
an *offer* is given to the user, so it can be flipped back. If it still
somehow installs, than it is really bad.

Sorry again, it was a fine and pretty funny site once.

Problems with S/MIME

2004-09-12 Thread aceman

Hi

I'm using TB! Pro v3, and when I try and generate a digital certificate for myself
(using the generate button in TB!) I get the following error messages:

"Token driver is not installed or PKCS#11 API is missing"

(this error only shows up the first time I try it after starting TB!. After the first
attempt it then only shows the error below until I shut down TB! and reopen it again)

followed by:

"The specified token could not be found"

FWIW I used this function previously in TB! 2 without any problems.

I'm not using any tokens or hardware authentication methods.

Also, I created a digital certificate for myself using openSSL and a GUI front-end and
when imported into other programs (IE, Mozilla, Thunderbird etc.) it works fine but
when I import it into TB! the certificate shows up as invalid due to "Invalid
signature match".

Any ideas what the problem(s) could be and how to solve it?

Thanks.

Very good version, but it contains one major bug:
when in blacklist or whitelist use you condition "header" this plugin
search in all the mail, not only in header. So "any" and "header" do
the same. This bug was fixed in 0.6.0 version, but 0.6.0 and newer

No, a search and a viewing of the C: drive show only one thebat.exe.
Strangely, though, even while showing v.3.0.0.11 in About, the
executable's properties show v.3.0.0.3. Again, when I close and reopen
TB!, I see v.3.0 in About and the executable's properties say
v.3.0.0.3.

The downloaded update file, which should be v.3.0.0.11 *does*
identify itself as that version.

I'm still working on it. Sorry I posted a message to TBOT yesterday
about the problem, but forgot to post one here.

I think I found a bug of some sort in Tiki Wiki. Yesterday, I logged
on and saw Roelof had created an account. I went to make him an
administrator, and that's when everything went south. Apparently he
had been editing his account properties at the same time I made him an
admin.

I still don't know what happened, but the problem is limited to user
permissions/logins somehow. We haven't lost any data, so I'm probably
going to reinstall the software, and move over all the existing pages.
This may entail everyone having to create their account again, but
that's pretty easy.

Here's the url to an article in the knowledge base/FAQ:
http://www.ritlabs.com/kb/idx/44/076/article/

I still don't know why they didn't put this information with the rest
of TB!'s product information.

As my subsequent message indicated, I too get that same message.

I had assumed your problem was related to the fact that Leif had
originally posted one link and then later published a different one. I
had been able to use the second one he posted (the one I sent you)
without problems previously, but as I said I didn't check this morning

The Bat! on a network

2004-09-12 Thread Cams
I've just installed and am using the Bat! for the first time. I have
imported my accounts and messages from Eudora successfully and am trying to
set things up on a wireless network. The network is an ad-hoc network with
PC2 connecting to the Internet using Internet Connection Sharing set up on
PC1.

What I would like to do is to have PC1 as the master, with all messages,
directory structure, accounts, etc. set up there. Then have PC2 see the
same structure over the network without having to download messages twice.

Maybe that doesn't make sense, so to clarify, if I download a message on
PC1, file it in a directory called Fish, I should then be able to find the
same message in the same directory on PC2 without it being downloaded
again. If the Bat! is not loaded on PC1 and I download a new message on
PC2, the actual message should be stored on the hard drive of PC1 and be
visible when I load the Bat! on PC1.

I've tried installing using what look to me to be the appropriate settings
on each computer, so, on PC1, the Bat! is configured as the master, and on
PC2, as a client. I don't recall the exact settings but the illustration
looked right with PC1 being at the top of the tree with network clients,
and PC2 being a client.

I've tried with one account by going to Properties > Files & Directories
and browsing to a directory on PC1's hard drive, then doing the same on PC2
with the directory mapped as z: over the network. If the directory in the
account's Files & Directories settings is set as z: I get a message on PC1
that says z: cannot be found. Likewise if I change it to d: on PC1, PC2
then says that it cannot find d:

I spent almost all day yesterday trying to get it to work as I would like
but have failed. Can anyone help me with this, or am I trying to achieve
the impossible.

Thanks,
Cams

I am using IMAP - this way I can still get the contents of all folder

Why don't you post here your reply filter and/or template? Or send it by

Nothing happened over here (it didn't even work).

So I guess it has to do with the security settings in the browser or
with the PFW. I believe that no website can install any spyware on my
computer - I hope. Anyway, just checked with Spybot S&D, and I appear
to be clean.
