Miguel,

 Hello Paul,

I had never before used the Horizontal split mode but I have just tried
 and they are saved here.

The horizontal split layout is saved, but not the widths of the
columns. Each time I restart TB the columns are all the same size.

Hello David,

That is the point I am a big key board used and don't use the mouse. When I
the cursor keys to move up and down the tree it gets really annoying that
the other columns disappear off the right.

The problem as I see it is that the first column width is not fixed but
will vary depending on how far into a tree you are in.

I don't know why that is happening to you. All I can actually say is
that I don't see that behaviour here. As you can see in this screenshot:

http://www.rancho-k.com/TB/Folder_tree.png

my Name column doesn't change width no matter how deep I navigate in my
folder tree. Sorry I can't be of further help.

Hmmm, I justed tested and found out that this setting *only* effects
the message list, the folder tree is untouched by this setting. This
seems to be correct (aka WAD), because the setting is called
Options|Preferences|Messages and not Options|Preferences|Columns.

So, I really do not know, how this setting fixed David's problem.

Re[2]: Window split

2008-03-13 Thread Dan Lester
Follow up on this. I have mine laid out with full height folder column
on left, then on right the message list above and msg view below.

What I can't figure out how to do (if it is possible) is to keep the
window split on the right side DIFFERENT for different folders. Why?

On most folders I want the split to show me a few msgs in the list at
top, and then most space taken up with the window with below
containing the message.

But for my spam folder, I want almost the entire right area taken up
with the list, and a very small message window. Why? I sort spam by
subject, and then very quickly delete it. That way I can quickly skim,
and on occasion (not often, I've got the filter very well trained)
find something that isn't spam. I can go through the thousand or more
spams a day in a couple minutes.

But then I have to resize when go back to any other folder.

Not a major problem, but one of those nagging irritants.

Corrupt message base

2008-03-13 Thread Tony
Hello Tbudl,

The Bat 4.0.7

All was fine until a reboot.
After the reboot all extra message folders are gone. Leaving me with the
default The Bat folders.
When I look inside the Bats directory in Program Files I see the missing
directories.
I tried the repair option but that didn't help.
I restored from a rather old backup and all the folders are back.
Except for one folder that I created yesterday and put some recent stuff in I
want back.
All is lost when restoring a backup you might say.
But somehow the folder is still there somewhere hidden
Let me explain.
I created a folder MyFolder as an normal folder under Inbox.
Then I used Ctrl+Shift+Left to move the folder 'to the left'
Not sure how that's called. i hope you understand.
After the restore I successfully created MyFolder again.
But when I try to move it out using Ctrl+Shift+Left the Bat give an error that
it can't rename the file.
Any other folder name works fine.
So to me it appears it can't rename because the old folder with the same name
still is there. (with message)

Any idea how to recover the messages?

Did you try controlaltshiftL while highlighting something on

If you are successful with that, run the maintenance center

Well I thought it might have worked. My folder tree doesn't go

Would viewing the folder *list* instead of *tree* work for you?
