You'll find it mentioned in the window popping up when activating.

Yes, that is how I would use it referring to the long string that the
Ritlabs web site gives you at activation. I mentioned token serial
number as well referring to a string that Voyager generates and is
unique to your USB stick.

RW That might be the problem. I reactivated with a new activation
RW key.

Unfortunately this actually means that I am at loss with what is your
problem. Since my guess of what is going on with your installation was
based on assuming your serial serial number was altered.

RW Big problem. As I've said, I didn't save the original activation
RW key. :-( But then I didn't either of my USB sticks.

No problem at all. I offered you a hack. Surely the way I go about
this is not the recommended way for any normal installation. It gives
you the possibility to reinstall Voyager on the USB stick even after
you formatted it without using a new reactivation.

RW Usage: volumeid driveletter:-

A simple command DIR driveletter: at the command prompt will reveal
this number

Re: Voyager re-install problem

2006-12-11 Thread Gerrit Kiers
Hello Richard,

I have just installed Voyager onto my USB stick and can only refer to what I
noticed during that process. I hope it'll be of some help.

I understand that you have 'cleared the stick' and reinstalled Voyager onto it,
and 'put in my registration number and then got my token from
the web site and put it in'. Despite this it seems your Voyager is not
accepting your token and continues to pop up for one.

When I got my token from the web site it said I had four more activations to
go. Do you recall that message? Is yours decreasing now that you are
reinstalling and got your token from the web site to point out you've been
using a new activation?

I saved my token to a text file so I could use it in a later instance in case I
needed to reinstall (preventing using my future activations), BUT I did not
fail to notice that the token uses a 'token serial number' that is based on the
file system type of the USB stick and its volume ID.

My token serial number was like FAT- (can be FAT32-)

This is my guess at what your situation is all about:

You have formatted your USB stick and as a consequence its volume ID has
changed and now your token activation is no longer valid as the volume ID is
based on the token serial number.

Please Note that I assume that you saved your token and used this number
instead of reactivating through Internet your new installation.

This is what you can do:

Download VolumeID v2.0 from Mark Russinovich
(Whow. That is new to me: He is at Microsoft now!!! )
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/VolumeId.mspx

After you format your USB stick run this little tool to give it back its
previous volume ID. Make sure you formatted to the right file system type as
well (defaults to FAT is my experience). Now reinstalling Voyager with your
original registration number and the token you have saved should be working
smoothly.

Most probably you never noted down your original volume ID, so you'll need to
reactivate your new installation again through the internet and get a new
token. This time you write down your token serial number as well.

KC Thanks for sharing your solution.

Kevin,
Bill's solution does not solve instances when you send mail from the
notebook. I use the following set-up to cover for that.

Whenever I send an e-mail from my notebook I send a blind copy (BCC)
to myself. The Bat! on my notebook knows it should leave these e-mails
on the server. Then: When I reach home I start collecting my e-mail
and The Bat! automatically sorts the messages that I have send during
my trip to it's Sent Mail folder. Thus my home PC always contains
copies of all the mail I get and send.

On the notebook:
Add these macros to your templates for 'New message' and 'Reply' (and
if you use these also in 'Forward' and 'Reading conformation') You do
this at menu: Account - Properties - Templates
-begin macros---
%BCC=
%BCC=%FROMNAME %FROMADDR
--end macros
From now you are sending automatically BCC copies to yourself.

Then go to the Sorting Office and make a new rule under 'Selective
download'. Make the rule 'Detect by originator' with as signal string
your own e-mail address. This will make your notebook neglect these mails
on the server. (Call the rule 'Ignore BCC copies' or something like
that). That's it on this side.

At home:
Go to the Sorting Office and make a new rule under 'Incoming mail'
Apply these settings in the Rule tab:
  Source folder = 'Inbox'
Move message to folder = 'Sent mail'
Filtering string = *your own e-mail address*
  Location = Sender
  Presence = Yes
Then under the tab Actions click 'Mark the message as read'
Now your own mail is sorted to the 'Sent Mail' folder (you won't even
notice it functioning). Call it To Send mail if I send as BCC or
something like that.

I actually never use the Synchronise tool between my notebook and home
PC. If I really need copies my e-mails on the notebook I usually copy
the all the Messages.tbb and the Messages.tbi files (containing the
messages) onto the notebook before I leave for a trip (and
address books).

Hope i could be helpful.

Template option planned for Redirect Message in Sorting Office?

2004-01-19 Thread Gerrit Kiers
Hello all,

This question is related to html formatted email. I run an NGO's mailinglist and
redirect html formatted mail to its members.

At the moment their is no good solution to distribute a html formatted mail to a group
of addresses.

Current TB might offer ways, but neither can perform the task.

One is to use 'Create a message for ' and use the %TEXT macro, but naturally it will
not reproduce the html content. Is an %html macro planned in the future?

An extension to this method is to save all attachments of the original mail, and
import them again. But the html part is not considered an attachment by TB, so it will
not be saved.

The most promising way is actually to use 'Redirect the message to'. This works very
well, since the original html content is maintained unmodified. But this Action
(Sorting Office) misses the 'Template button'.
It is therefore impossible for me to use vital macros related to the redirecting of
the mail:
%From=
%From=mailinglist [EMAIL PROTECTED]
%BCC=list list
%SUBJECT=%OSUBJ

My question is: Does anyone know when will a Template button be offered at the
Redirect action?

With my example I hope to have shown the relevance of such an option.

Account found as lost folder appeared as Common Folders

2003-10-03 Thread Gerrit Kiers
Hello fellow Batters,

I've seem to have made quite a mess, since my accounts appear twice in
the account tree. Once correct as accounts, but then also as Common
Folders. I obviously made an unfortunate Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L to try to
recall some folders I just had copied under Windows to a new Common
Folder.

I think deleting those Common Folders is the way to clean up. Taking
care I use the option of leaving the account files on the disk.
Unfortunately I have mails parked, so the delete is not allowed as
long as the accounts holds parked mails. (Quite some mails).

Before I go around unparking, does anyone know of a smarter solution
to get clean again. I would not mind tweaking a bit. I know the
container files of TB to be truly robust, but then I seem already to

The Bat 2.00 and support for HTML

2003-10-01 Thread Gerrit Kiers
Hello all,

I didn't really follow the development of version 2, but I surely
picked up support for HTML all along the long road leading to the
release of version 2. To my great surprise this support is really very
limited. Too limited in my opinion, and it does not even function
well. Now, I personally never use formatted e-mail (I use The Bat!
;-)), but I there are several instances when HTML format does add
quality to the message created.

For one: I maintain a scientific NGO's mailinglist and for obvious
reasons a well structured HTML formatted e-mail is superior to any
text message (And here you might feel provoked ;-)). So we do use HTML
and our current implementation of it with The Bat! includes several
work-arounds. It seems that with the release of version 2 we'll have
to live with these work-arounds a little longer, since replying,
forwarding or redirecting an HTML formatted message does not preserve
the original HTML format (as it should be IMO, and even included in
the sorting office as an option).

(For another: Kids...)

Also the current HTML editing capacities are unsatisfactory. Simply
from a general point of view: I cannot use TAB to align, I think
supporting of (un)numbered lists is basic (but currently lacking) and
not supporting alignment on the level of a paragraph seems
unsatisfactory to me as well.

And what seems to be a a bug to me (or at least a bad implementation):
My boilerplate includes e-mail addresses and Internet addresses in the
form of mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] and http://visit.here.org. If I change
between the different message formats while composing my e-mail, these
tags are deleted by The Bat!.

Is there a way for me to include these fields into the headers of my mail? I run a
mailinglist with the bat, but cannot find macros for these fields.

Re: S/MIME - CA Root certificates

I don't consider this fully off topic...

Peter,
Your S/MIME sign is invalid since it claims that: The issuer of this chain is not
found.

But: I possess the same type of certificate as you have, meaning that I am also a
validated member of Thawte freemail program. I have my certificate installed on my
PC, and it is valid.

This means that i have installed the CA Root Authorities (Personal Freemail RSA
2000.08.30 and Thawte Personal Freemail CA) that are required to validate your
certificate. This is why I think your certificate should be valid *by default* on
my PC, but it isn't.

I can think of two possible causes.
1. The Bat fails to recognise the root CA installed on my PC.
2. Having them on the PC (encapsulated by micros~1) is not enough. I have to
install the root CA as well in the Addressbook of The Bat.

Any light?

Re: Mailto url goes nuts in IE

TB Any mailto link in IE seems to exhibit this behavior, but only on one
TB of my PCs which is running XP Pro.

It probably should be attributed to IE 6. I have seen the same happening on a Win
2000 machine twice, and here The Bat! 1.60 is installed as a second e-mail reader,
leaving the privilege to be the default mailto-program to Explorer Outlook (v6).

In my case numerous instances of IE were opened all with the mailto:... in the
address bar. I clicked on the mailto:-link inside IE.
