Selective Sent Mail Removal
Hi, I had a filter that would remove the local copy of messages sent to this list and before I re-do that I wanted to see if there is something that is built into TB!. I've looked for a 'don't save' type option but figure the filter is the solution... What I had before was an outbox filter. I was kind of unsure if it would just delete my mail as I tried to send it but it worked as I wanted in 1.62r. I'd also like to not keep sent items for other email I send from time to time.. Perhaps a macro that I can run when I create the message? Macro / Template annoyances
Hi, Apparently macro placement has become more critical in v2.00 - I was able to use %ACCOUNT anywhere in the (AB) template with 1.62r where now it will break (if placed below) %fromname. Why would I do that? Because of the annoying blank lines that are added to a message when templates use certain macros. Is there a way that despite the apparent new placement requirements that I can keep macros such as %ACCOUNT, %QUOTES, etc from adding their own new lines? The only resolution which seems to be is to put all the macros on one line, which is rather nasty looking in the template editor. EG: %ACCOUNT="PICTURES"% TO=""%TO="""%OFromName"" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" On%SETPATTREGEXP="(?m-s)Date\:\s*?((.*?[\d]{4})\s*?([\d]{0,2}\:[\d]{0,2})\s*?(.*))"%- %REGEXPMATCH="%HEADERS" GMT, %OFROMNAME wrote: ..will add new lines at the top of the message. Similarly, I wound up using %QUOTES%CURSOR since %QUOTES adds a blank line. There is generally enough cleanup to do when replying for me to enjoy cleaning up what the template produces also. With 1.62r the macros that generate these new lines seemed quite comfortable being below the tear-line thus provided a decent workaround. -- Pixie TB! v2.00 on Windows 95 (4.0.1212 C) Current version is 2.00 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Address book / Autocomplete bug confirmation anyone?
Hi, I created a second address "Mail Lists" book with TBOT, TBUDL and some other entries which are for mailing lists. Options -> Pref -> System : Autocomplete on, Check All addr books (note no history check) Address Autocomplete would work for TBOT but not TBUDL ...so then Copied all entries from Mail List address book to the default book Options -> Pref -> System : Autocomplete on, Ck Default AddrBK only Autocomplete works as expected for all.. While segregation of the entries isn't mandatory for me I would like to use more than one address book and apparently autocomplete has issues with it. Just for kicks, perhaps someone can explain what is happening when starting on the first column of a message "Options ->" becomes something 'special' and changes color. When TB starts and message auto-view = ON, default to preview of no message. Or perhaps if it's ON by default, turn it OFF on initial startup until a message is specifically selected. It's annoying to have spam or whatever happens to gain focus at startup get tagged read, shown and so-on. There are many work-arounds I can imagine but it would be better IMHO if TB simply did not automatically select a message to view. I'd turn off preview but it is handy and there are issues with viewing messages in a separate window that make it inconvenient and misleading to use. -- Pixie Using The Bat! v1.62r on Windows 95 4.0 Current version is 1.62r | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Yes, that is what is so frustrating. The " +" combination also is not doing anything at all. I've had it working more/differently than it is right now in my experimentation. I seem to loose the majority of the autocomplete functionality when I turn off parsing of history. EG: right now, I get the behaviour as described in the prior message, and in this one, having no apparent " +" operation -- setting is 'all address books'. I turned on 'history+all addrbks' and TBU grabbed the address from somewhere. I set it back to 'all addrbks', test, back to 'hist+all addbk', test doesn't work. In other words I'm not even seeing consistent operation of the same setting when toggling between two states of operation...other than it simply is not working as prescribed. I get very inconsistent operation, making it a PITA to track down what is happening. At first I thought maybe it was just something simple like not having a fully constructed sur/family name so I put TBUDL in nickname, firstname and tried other variants of completed addy entries with no solid results. I'm just hoping it's not something wrong with TB compatibility with Windows 95. It'll be my first sign of a backwards compatibility problem. I figure it may have something to do with the entry I have made and the autocomplete I've tried a few approaches thinking perhaps the entry is causing problems. Considering other stuff I've read on the site, the emails I received from them and so forth it's been apparent that although it's in english, it's not the typical run of the mill american english that I take for granted and I find myself needing to read, reread.. Sadly I'm still confused... Part of which has kept me from having already registering TB!. One thing that caught my attention is for some reason my mail has -0400 in the header instead of -0500, as indicated by your template. OT: TB! v2 price anyone? Help deciding on a version and so forth
I read this from the website: Important Note: Ritlabs informs all the customers that the planned release date for The Bat! V.2.** is September 1, 2003. Within two months from the release date, registered users of The Bat! v1.** are eligible to buy The Bat! V.2.** with 50% discount from the current price of V.2.**, regardless of the type and the number of licences of The Bat! v1.** bought before. We will publish an additional information on our site at September 1, 2003. I am wondering if someone can divulge the price for version 2? ..additionally Does anyone know what the upgrade to Secure Bat! is? What difference is there between Business, Regular? Is the whole lineup covered in V2? (reg/bus/secure/auth) or is all versions consolidated into one V2? I have not yet registered, but figure I'll be doing so but I have yet to hear back from RIT in response to my info request. It sounds as if I were to purchase now I'd simply need to cough up 50% of whatever v2 is going to cost if I want to upgrade.. Figures I'd decide to try out the program during a transition. Better yet if someone there is available for responding to info requests then things might be more clear. I haven't figured out which version of 1.x I want to get, now I have to consider this. AWK! S/MIME vs PGP
My guess is that PGP is the favorite amongst most here yet I wanted to see if I can get an idea which I should explore first. A long time ago with IE like 2.0 or 3.0 I bought a verisign S/MIME key to fiddle with. MS cryptoAPI was a PITA and eventually I broke everything and blew the whole venture off.. Never have used PGP for any length of time although I have always had a great interest in privacy and data security and keeping the black choppers away. I've so far generated a few key pair and tossed some mail back and forth with a couple account to get the hang of it.. I'd like to stick with the internal implementations of either unless there is some flaw with that thinking.. I'm not real knowledgeable about e-mail headers.. So you mean to say that what I put in the template is added to the message header? I was thinking the templates are basically cosmetic. I don't recall what was in there but my name was inserted in the message so I just tried a few until I actually saw "Thomas Fernandez" show up.. doh! Re[2]: Moving The Bat to another computer with same OS
Monday, August 25, 2003, 12:44:54 AM, Allie Martin wrote: AM> If this routine doesn't work, then you could do it the manual way. This Hi, the ability to 'manually install' TB is something I was drawn to. I have a common partition that I have TB reside on and 3 different versions of windows swap in/out of C: all sharing the common TB install. Seems to work without a hitch although there was a slight amount of registry editing needed. Mind you I did install it once and pluck out the "RIT" registry chain before I removed that partition and re-imaged it. However I don't think I really had to since TB simply created the missing reg entries (defaults of course) in the other OS when I ran the client. Seems much of the configuration information resides in the TB home directory so reconfiguring was quite minimal to have each OS-TB combination work the same. With regard to the backup feature, it has worked perfectly for me during the re-partitioning, OS swapping and so forth that I was doing seeing how TB will work not really being installed on any of the 3 windows partitions that I can boot. Also, unlike some programs you need not worry if your account(s) don't show up as expected. Create new account -> pointing to the directory where the files are.. works great. I SO THRILLED about how everything is so un-bound from windows and all the nasty underpinnings that make migration from-to another computer, backups, restore, etc so painless with TB. Craig, my two cents are to go with your gut feeling and use the (backup) TBK file. Works well. And as Allie said, manually moving it is no hassle. Seems IMAP related and I read that the IMAP code is getting some due consideration. The hot-keys aren't so bad. All in all I'll probably find other features as I go that will alter how I am using TB now anyhow. TF> Yes, that's possible. Check out Folder / Properties / Template... Great! I really haven't examined this area much so I appreciate the jump-start you gave me. As you pointed out though, perhaps I should be looking at AB templates instead. I am still finding myself loosing my way though the various menus and options. Took me a while to finally find the ticker again after I hid it. :-) BTW: which macro is generally used in a list for "xxx wrote" reply template? Hello and a couple questions (dispatcher & this list)
Hi all! Just got around to joining the list. I've been using TB for a few days now and feel pretty comfortable with it. However there are some areas MIA in the help file and have been unable to find relevant information in the FAQs and so forth. I am wanting to choose my own startup defaults for the dispatcher read|recieve|delete|open flags. Is there any way to do that? Secondly, is it possible to associate a folder to a recipient email address? It would be useful for lists and other sorted email folders. EG: -N when TBUDL folder is selected would default to addressing the message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] without having to add to, select from the address book.
