When I try this, I get a memo window, but it doesn't open the memo for
the selected message. Here's what happens for me:

Step |Result

Ensure that message auto-view is |No action

Press Ctrl+Shift+I|Memo for the message opens

Type some memo text, Press Ctrl+S,|Memo is saved and memo window

Press Ctrl+Shift+E|Message auto-view toggles off

Press Ctrl+Shift+I|Memo window opens, but the memo

FWIW, I created and saved a memo in the blank window -- and I still
haven't found where it went. It's attached to neither the message, the
folder, nor the account.

Select the message then press Ctrl+Shift+I. Unfortunately, you are
correct, this only seems to work if you have Message Auto-view set to
on.

BTW, why are you not to keen on using message auto-view?

I found that if I select Message Auto-view and create and save a memo then
un-select Message Auto-view the memo function continues to work.
Also prior to following the above steps the save and
clear icons in the memo box were grayed out.

I noticed this same thing a couple of days ago and almost e-mailed the
list last night when this thread started up... but then didn't because
I figured this was normal behavior.

However, I would really like it to change all my folders without me
having to go in and edit them... and when I exited/restarted the only
folders that had the memo field were the original ones that I had
already edited. So, it worked for you but not me!! (bummer!)

In the folder properties, select [X] Use the account default column
settings. This actually means make this folder's setting the
default. If you have several folders with this tickmark, you change
a column setting, it gets changed this way in all folders with this
tickmark.

Message- Save as: Email message (.MSG)

That's plain ASCII text. Edit at will, then:

Tools- Import messages- from .MSG

After this operation finishes succesfully, of course delete the old
message to avoid duplicates...

Changing received message subject

I've got a load of archive messages from a mailing list and they all

Is there a way of changing the subject of a received message, other
than redirecting the message to myself and changing it then? They are
digests about half a meg each so this isn't ideal!

Thanks!

Well, since someone helped me with this yesterday, I'll return the
favor:) TB has the excellent memo feature, which I like better than
altering the subject (which I used to do in Pegasus mail). Just
highlight the message and press ctrl-shift-I and a memo box
appears. Type in whatever you want and then make sure to have the
memo field in view as a column and you'll see your memo there. ( To
select the columns go to view then Message List Columns).

Hope this helps. I think the feature is great.
