This happens under Windows XP home with TheBat 4.2.33.9 professional but also
happened with previous TheBat versions. I hooped for solution for some
TB versions now. ^^

If nothing happens, I guess no log will be generated. But you could
look whether you have a file starting with "exceptions" (and then
something, I forgot) in your TB! directory. This is where TB! writes
any errors to.

I have received the plain-text message and printed it out. To my
surprise, I confirm:

1.) When printing the message as is, the details after the colons are
printed onto the next line, even though there seems to be no reason
for it.

2.) When hitting reply and then printing it, it prints correctly.

I am not sure why this is happening. I went into the headers I found
in the original message:

X-Mailer: MIME-tools 5.411 (Entity 5.404)
Content-Type: multipart/mixed;

While I don't see the reason for multipart/mixed, I think you have no influence
on it anyway. However, this might give someone else a clue for this
behaviour, because the reply (which prints fine) shows:

MIME-Version: 1.0

It looks like TB has a problem printing multipart/mixed, but I cannot

As above - I *think* I've tried all possible editor combinations.

Further tests - if I forward the email then the fault remains, but if I send it to
another email client (Pegasus or OE) then it prints correctly. Copy/paste to another
text editor also prints correctly. It does appear to be something with TheBat at this
stage of the tests.

I can forward part of the email to the list if that would help (data protection means
I can't forward the whole thing).

Printing problem with TheBAT! 2.12

2004-08-28 Thread Vark
Hi all,

Having scanned thru the list messages in the archive, I couldn't find a solution to
the following, so I hope someone here can help.

I've just moved a car hire firm over to using TB from OE, and that has gone fine,
however they receive on a regular basis emails from another firm giving car hire
details, in the following format:

Name : x y
Category : vvwx

Etc,etc for 2 pages worth of fields. These emails display in TB in the correct format
- the problem comes with printing.

If you print the email from the main screen, or open the email and print it from
there, the print format looks like this:

Name :x
y
Category :
vvwx

However, if you pretend to "reply" to the email, and print it from that screen, then
the email prints exactly as displayed on screen - and most importantly, this is how it
is meant to be printed.

(Note that, with the above, if you have more than one word after the colon on a line,
it tends to print the first word on the same line and then the rest on a second line,
whereas if there is only one word as the post-colon word, it tends to get put on the
next line).

Having played with the various settings available to me, I've found no way to prevent
this behaviour - your thoughts would be appreciated! (Oh, and it's printer independant
- it happens on my Brother HL5150D, and their HP multi-function thing).

Printing Problem

2002-07-11 Thread Michael S. Greenbaum

Please forgive me if this problem has already been raised.

With version 1.60m, I'm running into a printing problem. If an email
is two pages or more, and I go to the print menu and tell TB to print
Pages From 1 To 1, the first page prints and then a blank sheet is
ejected with no printing on it.

This happens only in TB, not in any of my other programs, and I can't
figure out what's happening. It never happened with earlier versions.
I've had the problem only since switching to 1.60m.

I'm using TheBat! version 1.60m on a Pentium III 500 mg PC with
Windows 98 Second Edition and a Hewlett Packard printer Laserjet 4P.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks.

I just assume that this is the standard in *all* Windows Programs, so I
_always_ use Ctrl-P to print. Even if I am going to take the default
settings. That's when I just go Ctrl-P, Enter. I would expect that
future versions of TB! will remain the way they are now with regards to
the Print button.

btw... it takes me longer to find the print button on the screen than it
does to go Ctrl-P or even File/Print. But that's me. =]

In order to avoid this (I also need to print only the first one or two
pages), I use the menu item Message / Print... so I can still choose
the pages to print.

BTW it seems to be pretty standard behaviour in Windows programs to
just start printing all pages when you hit the print icon, but give
you the dialog when using a menu. I find this in other programs as
well. Good or not, I don't know. I hardly ever use the print icon in

There is a program called fineprint www.fineprint.com which allows one
to print multiple pages on one sheet, or select pages to print and
pages to delete. It is a very useful utility, and might be even more
than just a good workaround for your need.

Printing Problem with 1.53d

2002-01-02 Thread Michael S. Greenbaum

I recently upgraded from the 2000 Christmas edition to 1.53d. In
the Christmas version, hitting the print icon brought up the print
dialogue box and allowed me to decide which pages I wanted to print.

Now, hitting the print icon simply begins the printing process and all
pages are printed.

I find this fairly wasteful, since I usually don't need to print 2nd
and 3rd pages of a number of emails I receive.

I believe that in the Halloween edition of 2000, clicking the icon
printed everything (same as in 1.53d), and I hated it. I was very
happy when the Christmas (2000) edition changed that and brought up
the dialogue box.

Now things seem to have taken a step backward.

Why was this change made and is there any way I can have the dialogue
box appear when I hit the icon, rather than having to go into the
Message Print menu or hitting CTRL-P (which takes two hands, rather
than a single click with the mouse for the icon)?

Thanks for any help.

Re[2]: Printing problem

2000-05-09 Thread Gary Luther

Hello Chuck,

Larry>> I have noticed lately that there are times when
certain Larry>> messages simply will not print.

I, too, ran into this just 2 days ago. I monitor my wifes mailbox but
do not delete from the server. She received a message that she wanted
me to print for her. TAIM (Try As I Might), I couldn't get the message
to print. The mailbox had two messages in it. The other one printed
fine. I chose to forward it to one of my other mailboxes and it then
would print.

I thought it was just a fluke but apparently others have seen this as
well.

I have an AMD K6III 450 running Windows 98 SE w/64MB Memory & 13.5GB
HD.

Re: Printing problem

2000-05-09 Thread Larry Barrett

Greetings again,

In regards to my "problem" with printing - I still could not get the
message to print - so I dragged it to my Inbox and it printed. I then
dragged it back to its original folder and it printed! Interesting,
huh?

Yes, at least a few of us have reported it at last count.

I don't print from TB! often, but have run across this twice so far
and, as you say, only with certain messages. To date, I've not been
able to determine what is different about those messages, nor have the
others who have experienced it as far as I know.

In one case, though I could not print the message from my Inbox, if I
redirected it to myself via my ISP I *could* print the re-directed
message.

In another case (and the last one for which this printing problem
reared its head), I went into Message | Print Setup | Setup printer
and RE-selected my printer. The non-printing message would then
print. Haven't seen the problem since, but then, as I said, I rarely
print e-mail.

FYI, I've had the latest drivers for my printer (HP 820Cse) throughout
the difficulties. I only mention this because someone will
undoubtedly point to outdated drivers or your printer, saying "those
printers are known to have problems ... blah, blah."

Let us know more info, if either of the above help, etc.

Printing problem

2000-05-09 Thread Larry Barrett

Greetings,

I have noticed lately that there are times when certain messages
simply will not print. Today, for example, I received two different
messages within my "family" folder. When I clicked "print" on one - it
printed - when I clicked on the other - nothing! This has happened to
me on a least three or four other occasions. Is there something I
should know? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thank you.
