Re: Some improvements
Hello Mike, Historians believe that Thursday, August 30, 2001 at 11:55 GMT -0400 was when, Mike Whalen [MW] typed the following: >> JW> 1. Possibility to run compression and defragmentation eg. >> JW> every 7 days... automatically - some kind of schedule... or >> JW> running it from command line. MW> Perhaps this has already been mentioned -- maybe it's already in there and I MW> haven't seen it -- but I would LOVE a backup scheduler. They don't even need to include a full scheduler, just a command line parameter which could automate and activate the backup feature. Then you could use the Windows Task Scheduler or some such program. There is an alternate option. In the days before TB had an internal backup mechanism, I had written a series of batch files to backup all settings and messages. Tony Boom polished them very nicely into very usable scripts. If you're interested, it might be possible to convince him to repost his versions. You can see a good thread on this issue in the TBBETA archives (I hope) from July 26-27. The subject was: "Backup and Restore of mail folders -- messages" -- Thanks for writing, Januk Aggarwal Using The Bat! 1.54 Beta/7 under Windows 98 4.10 Build A I've determined the momentum of my physics assignment so precisely that it can be anywhere in the universe right now. -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The address was: CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I hope it was delivered, becuase I got my e-mail to TBUDL returned... it seems that my SMTP server is on the RSS abuse list ;-( What is about CC: field if I get return for the To: address? Was it delivered or not? I am not sure now... but I think it was, because I didn't receive any returns... Perhaps this has already been mentioned -- maybe it's already in there and I haven't seen it -- but I would LOVE a backup scheduler. If it's too difficult to allow a customized schedule, perhaps you can do it the way Intuit does with Quicken. They nag you every few application-restarts. Now, I presume that some folks would think their financial data much more important and in much more need of backup than e-mails. Perhaps a preference can be set up for those who don't want to be nagged by TheBat! backup? Just a thought or two. I must admit, I'm a threading idiot... but I do know that neither "References" nor "Subject" produces acceptable results -- although "Subject" seems to be the lesser of the two evils. I know there has been much discussion about this, but I have never had sufficient time to really dig into it myself. JW> 4. Better attachments handling - let's say I have 15 JW> attachments in one message. OK. I have option "Save JW> all attachments". Great... but why do I have tick JW> Enter 15 times?? Very annoying... Same about JW> deleting attachments - why can't I select them all JW> and press "delete"... that would be faster. I can see your point, but more often than not, I am glad it doesn't automatically save everything in one shot. Many times I have used the save all attachments, and then cancelled the save for "message.htm" and/or other "junk" attachments. -- Dave [EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.53d on Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2 _ Do You Yahoo!?
