Re: Using twi smtp servers

2000-07-28 Thread Marck D. Pearlstone

Hi Curtis,

On 28 July 2000 at 21:47:38 GMT -0500 (which was 03:47 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points on the subject
of "Using twi smtp servers":

K BTW, is there a way to copy all of my filters from my main account
K to the office account so I don't have to set them up again?

C Marck posted a solution to that recently but I can't
C remember. It involves copying a file from the main accounts mail
C folder over to the other accounts mail folder. I thought it was
C account.srx but I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work.

It is account.srx but there is an order of execution issue with it:

Exit TB then copy the ACCOUNT.SRX file from the root folder of your
main mail account to the folder for the account you wish to have the
same filters. When you reload TB the secondary account will have the
 filters.

In Reference to "Using twi smtp servers" From Katsmeow:

K Any ideas of ways to handle this where it is easier?

Two separate accounts with mail filtered into a single one. Changes
accounts on the fly is a snap with The Bat! You could even make a
quick template to make it even easier.

Again templates using the %ACCOUNT="" macro. Or you may select
the account on a per message basis using the Options | Active Account
menu option in the editor.

K where to find the basic info).

Both accounts would be similar, with the only exception being the smtp
server in acounts/properties/transport.

You said that all mails are filtered into folders (which is in account
A, the one with the office smtp server set). When you reply or send a
new mail from home, every time you use to-be-defined quicktemplate
called "home", which contains the macro %ACCOUNT="B". Then the mail
will go to the outbox of account B, which uses the netcom smtp server.

Won't work. When I accidentally write a message in my work account that I
meant to send from my home account I, at one time, tried to just change the
active account. Sure, the name changed, the reply-to change, etc, etc, etc.
It still sent out through the work SMTP server.

K I tried to do this. I went to quick templates and tried to set up a

K this right. Could someone give me step by step who to set up a
K template for a reply to be from a particular acount and then tell me
K how to actually call it up to use it when I am writing a message in a
K folder where another account is the default?

This is the scenario. You wish to send a reply to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] but using your account 'foobar'

OK, open quick templates. Hit 'add' to to bring up a new
template editor window. Give the template a name such as 'foobar' and
give it the handle name 'fbar'.

Place in it:

Hi %FromFName,

%Quotes

%Cursor

--
Regards,
  Katsmeow

%ACCOUNT="foobar"%CLEAR

*

When you generate your reply message. Place the cursor in the message
body field, type "fbar" and then hit CTRLSpacebar. The previous
template will be erased (thanks to the %CLEAR macro) and the quick
template put in it's place.

Another approach would be to simply place in the template:

%ACCOUNT="foobar"

But if that's all you wish to do then using the editor menu
account change option would be as easy as typing "fbarCTRLSpacebar.

OK, so you wish to avoid the office account from downloading the

K Right now I have TB set to leave mail on server (I am still trying it

K get some mail to my main e-mail address from the main account and

K If so, maybe it doesn't matter. I know I can check mail on one
K account at a time but want to click one button ideally that would
K check mail on the main and secondary account but not on the office
K account.

If you click the little down arrow just beside the check account
toolbar button, a drop down list will appear with a selection to check
all accounts. The keyboard shortcut is also indicated. Now, you can
exclude the office account from this all accounts by opening the office
account properties, going to the options section and enabling 'Ignore
'Check all Accounts' request'. This will prevent this accounts servers
from being checked when you invoke the check mail for all command.

K BTW, is there a way to copy all of my filters from my main account to
K the office account so I don't have to set them up again?

Marck posted a solution to that recently but I can't remember.
It involves copying a file from the main accounts mail folder over to
the other accounts mail folder. I thought it was account.srx but I just
tried it and it doesn't seem to work.

Probably the easiest is to go into the secondary account, select
Account - Properties, then under Options select "Ignore Check All
command" Also, you can delete the POP account information. You
shouldn't need this information to be readily accessible to the
 second account.
