Spam, Bayes It, Kludges, white list, balck list... : French need help !

2004-06-15 Thread WilWilWil
Hello,

(I use TB 2.11.02 and Bayesit 0.5.5)

Can I use Black and White lists with Bayesit plugIn of the bat ? Because auto
spam filtering seems to not work correctly (more than 1000 mails evaluated and
no amelioration).I can't find help for parameters of the plug in and I just want
to burn or to authorize e-mail addresses.

Other question, can you help me because I'm a poor French man and I can't find
good translation of theses words found in the Plug In (I've turned TB on French
language but these terms are not translated) :

   -kludges
-Use white list of kludges (and edit list button)
   -number of ranking tokens
-Out of 100 score to be used for actions below : Average/maximal/minimal
   -Use enhanced evaluation

Of course I don't ask for a simple translation but I hope I can find explain
and a What for it is.

I thank you for your help.

Just a partial answer, on most tricky term I ever encountered in TB, and
as I know not well known even amongst native English speakers: actually
*anything* in header(s) area of a message.

You can see this, usually hidden, part of a message, when you do
Ctrl+Shift+K (or by right-click on preview pane and selecting RFC-822
headers).

Listen, Wilwilwil, I'm a poor English-speaking woman and I can't
fathom what these things mean either! I used to think 'kludge' was
something like Rube Goldberg art where you put odd things together to
make them work in a way in which they were not intended! (clear as
mud?) But in the computer world, words like 'kluge' and 'protocol' are
for special, discrete cases and they mean something very specific. I
left the Opera list after someone whose native language was not
English, but who knew a lot about computing, yelled at me for wanting
to develop protocols. I was using that term to mean taking specific
steps to achieve a result, not anything to do with programming! So,
don't worry, you're not alone! :)

W Of course I don't ask for a simple translation but I hope I can
W find explain and a What for it is.

I look forward to learn from the answers to these questions, too!

ok, kludges are headers. If you are reading mail, hit CONTROL-SHIFT-K
and it will change and show you all the normally invisible headers (
kludges). magic!!

go head, ask! If I can't answer it ( probably) I learn by looking it up!

If the Bayesit plugin is not working for you, why not try a different
program. I use Popfile with great success
(http://popfile.sourceforge.net/) and it has a French page at
http://popfile.sourceforge.net/manual/fr/manual.html.

Others have found K9 very good (http://keir.net/k9.html) and it has black
and white lists available.
