My understanding of the registry is limited also, but when using

For that line, did you try something like:-

%To=%OFROMNAME %OFROMADDR

(not sure if you need the quotes)

Look at TB!'s help file:-

TO=address(es) Changes the TO header to the value

Not sure what to do with this

2012-02-27 Thread Jack S. LaRosa
Greetings Batties,

I have received several of these HTML messages with the
following line as the entire message:

Invalid HTML ! Please forward this message to developers.
Thanks.

I assumed it was an Apple problem simply because Apple was
the sender. It wasn't until I searched for this string
on-line that I learned it's apparently being generated by
TB!. If I understand what's happening, Apple is sending me
HTML messages which TB! is having trouble displaying in
HTML. The actual text of the message (from Apple) can be
displayed by clicking on the TEXT tab at the bottom of that
message.

So, if my assumptions are correct, to whom should I forward
these? The line doesn't contain any links.

Message base damaged - what can I do?

2010-02-01 Thread Andreas Schwartmann
Hi,

I have a problem with my sent message base.

It must have been corrupt, so I ran maintenance over it.

The bat reported the message base damaged and put about 3.000 mails in a
part0001.bin file.

Is there any way to access those lost mails and to reimport them into the
message base?

Thanks
Andreas

If you use OTFE, you are out of luck.

If you use plain, just go to Tools / Import, and point to that file.

Can you configure what TB! sends as HELO/EHLO string?

2009-08-04 Thread MFPA
Hi

I've recently noticed the following header in some test mail I sent to
myself using TB! v4.0.38 sending through my ISP's SMTP server:-

X-Lookup-Warning: EHLO lookup on [10.0.0.1] does not match
xx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I enabled protocol logging and looked at the SMTP logs and, yes, TB!
is sending EHLO [10.0.0.1]

I am behind a router and 10.0.0.1 is the IP address assigned to my PC
by the router. The xx.xxx.xxx.xxx of the X-Lookup-Warning header
matches the public IP address.

Is there any way to make TB! send a HELO/EHLO string that won't
generate the warning header?

For comparison, I have now enabled protocol logging on another account
that sends mail through my own SMTP server app on the same computer as
my TB! installation. That account is sending EHLO localhost. I guess
in that instance, localhost or [127.0.0.1] or the computer name
would be correct...

In this case, the credentials have to be different. The ISP
blocks outgoing smtp traffic unless it goes through the ISP's
SMTP server.

Regardless of what username and password is used, the log
indicates the smtp authentication is not happening. I expected

Often they're only blocking port 25. I see that you're using gmail and
they're using a different port. You could try to reach them.

BTW Can you send mail via your regular mail account at your ISP?

Often they're only blocking port 25. I see that you're using gmail and

Same problem: gmail says I need to be authorized first. Here's
the log using gmail's smtp server.

 [07:43:34] C: Connected to smtp.gmail.com, port 465

Again, no AUTH.

BTW Can you send mail via your regular mail account at your ISP?

Oddly enough, I can. Here's the smtp log from that:

 [07:49:58] S: 334 ok, go on
 [07:49:59] S: 235 ok, go ahead (#2.0.0)

yay, auth... I went through and double checked the settings but
I still can't send email out. The only difference that may matter
is the non-sending account is really IMAP, and the second
account is POP. Having said that, I'm not sure how why or how it

smtp auth: what am I missing?

2007-05-07 Thread WL

Hello, all.

With TB! 3.99.3, I seem to be unable to use smtp
authentication. I'm getting a ``must first authenticate
message'' from the server. I must be missing something...

In the account properties, I have the smtp server using TLS.
The port is set to 465. In the authentication button, I
have Perform SMTP Authentication checked, with the specific
settings selected. I've tried tests with and without the
``Require secure authentication'' selected but the results
seem the same.

The protocol logs say:

 [18:49:11] C: Connected to smtp.att.yahoo.com, port 465
 [18:49:11] S: 220 smtp104.sbc.mail.re2.yahoo.com ESMTP

[18:49:11] S: 530 authentication required - for help go to
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/dsl/mail/pop/pop-11.html
 [18:49:11] C: RSET

It doesn't even seem to be performing the AUTH step.

Suggestions?

Hello Tom,

Monday, March 26, 2007, 1:55:38 PM, among other things, I wrote:

R I will set up some similar filters here and see what happens and report
 R back.

I initially set up three filters in the following order:
 1. Time of creation 00.00 to 07.59
 2. Time of creation 08.00 to 15.59
 3. Time of creation 16.00 to 23.59
and then used them to filter 850 messages that I
copied from my 'Trash' folder, with the result that three messages with
creation times like 00.00 and 8.00 did not get filtered anywhere! I did not
do any further analysis of this test.

I then changed the filter times as follows:
 1. Time of creation 00.00 to 08.00
 2. Time of creation 08.00 to 16.00
 3. Time of creation 16.00 to 00.00
and repeated the filtering of the 850 messages with the following results:
 a) The filters work on creation times converted to my local time zone.
 b) One message was mis-sorted. It had a creation time of 08.00 but was
repeatedly sorted by the No.3 filter. I cannot see anything unusual about
the header of this message, but it is always ignored by filters 1 and 2 and
 found by no.3!
 c) A message with a creation time of 00.00 was sorted by No.3 filter
whereas a message with a creation time of 00.01 was sorted by filter No.1.
Thus it seems that these filters do not really overlap.

Conclusion:
I can confirm that some messages can get mis-sorted, but for reasons still
unknown! I hope this will at least reassure you that the problem is not just
local to you. :-|

filter incoming mails according to what time they were created

2007-03-23 Thread Tom

Hello Everyone,

for statistical purposes I would like to filter incoming mails of a
specific account by the time they were created. My intention is to
have one filter for all emails I receive that were created between
08.00AM and 05.00 pm. Similar filters for 5.00pm to midnight and
midnight to 08.00AM.

I looked a the source code of incoming email and tried to find the
information required. I am not sure which line has the right
information and get confused by the fact that there may be an
adjustment to my time zone or GMT. In most emails it appears that the
line Date underneath subject shows the right time and if the
adjustment (+11.00) is identical to my own, than the time is correct.
In other cases it appears as -7.00 and looking at other data, the
correct time would be deducting 7 hours from the time shown. Could
someone please explain this to me and provide some guidance as to how
I best write a filter? I suppose some regEx can do this but that's
beyond me. I don't think I could do this with the easy conditions
offered under filters?

what is a postmaster in the address book?

Hi guys,

I sent out a message and mistakenly pushed the wrong button - so it ended up
being sent to a sublist of my address book. However, I noticed that one of the
sublist address entry was supposed to be an empty one, such as xyz, but it
seems to me that it's automatically filled and became xyzpostmaster. Even
worse, some people who are not in that sublist reported back that they received
the rogue message...

Does anyone know what exactly does postmaster do in this case?

You can make that choice in

Whatever way you select there is the default way to forward any

It is for messages from contacts in your address book. There is also a
pre-built filter in the Sorting Office that will move messages from
these people into the Known folder. The filter is called Known. You
 may need to enable it.

Mystery solved, thanks! Outside of mail lists most of the mail I get
is from known people, so I don't think I'll wind up using it. If
Inbox - Known was just a reference to the email, and not a move or
copy, I'd probably use it, though.

Now from TB's menu

I don't use it with a browser at all. As I recall you can:
   * use a command line with a single argument (the winmail.dat file)
   * drag a winmail.dat file to the fentun.exe file in windows explorer
 and drop it
   * put a shortcut to fentun.exe in your C:\Documents and

I use the third of these options.

 [What is winmail.dat file attachment?]

It is probably from someone using Outlook who is writing you in
rich-text format. To extract it, try using this free (as in freedom)

Thanks but that seems to be a Unix thingy - now I know what a win mail.dat file
is I'll
just delete it. Now if there was a way for TB to do that automatically - cool.

BTW your message came through with a part.txt attachment - it was the TB
current version
data.

Dear Marten,

@15-Nov-2005, 21:22 Marten Gallagher [MG] in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to Chris:

MG BTW your message came through with a part.txt attachment - it was
MG the TB current version data.

Chris's message was (as is mine) signed with a PGP/MIME signature. The
difference between a normal plain text clear signed message and a
PGP/MIME signed is that this MIME signing adds an attachment to the
message. This attachment contains the signature data.

Now - this is where clever-server-mode kicks in. When there is a MIME
attachment, any footer to be added by the list server has to go as an
attachment following any other attachments already present.

Thus - you see a part.txt containing the list footer.

Does that help?

Sometimes the winmail.dat file contains attachments that you actually
need. Try Fentun at http://www.fentun.com/ for a windows decoder.

What Triggers 'Read' Filter

2005-10-20 Thread Barry
Hi

I know this may be a really dumb question!

But what actually triggers the 'Read' filter?

Is it the action of actually reading the mail OR is it the fact that a mail
has been read?

I ask because I would like a filter that moves mails that have been read
and are of a certain age to a specified folder.

I want to archive certain messages when they reach a specific age and I
have read them.

I tried the 'Alternative deletion method for purging folders' but it
doesn't seem to work the way I want as my archive folder ends up with
messages I don't want to keep.

Or maybe I just can't see the obvious.

The changing from 'unread' status to 'read'.

You could create a filter that checks whether the message has been read
and is older than your specific age and then moves the message to
another folder.
And then you create a recurring re-filter action in the scheduler and
assign that filter to it.

I'd place it between the incoming filters. Together with the required
'read' status that will mean that it won't be triggered by accident.

And then you create a recurring re-filter action in the scheduler and
 assign that filter to it.
B That's the bit I was missing!

For this you need to set the folder (in the schedule) you want to run
the filter on. The last time I tried it, it worked only for the first
selected folder. So when you want to process multiple folders, I'd
suggest that you use multiple schedules.

Themes dont vary a whole lot from what I see

2005-06-15 Thread Darrin
Hello TBUDL,

I finally got around to taking a look at all the different themes for
TB. The majority of the ones I see dont offer all that much change.
All the changes are very slight. I guess Im used to themes for other
programs where everything is altered sometimes drastically.
