Unfortunately this doesn't cure the problem because I still have to be

Mine is the same way, but i'm *very* sure that it did go away prior to

Personally, I've never seen it go away automatically once it appears.
I've always had to hide it manually. The only difference is that in
previous versions, if you disconnected while the dial-up monitor was
displayed but disconnected using windows dial-up rather than TB!'s
dial-up monitor abort button, then the only way to get rid of the
dial-up monitor would be to shut down TB!. That problem has since
disappeared a version or two back.

Hi A,

this is what happens when your "real name" is set up the way it is and

When do you wish to close it? It closes automatically when it's
finished. If you don't want to see it, just choose "hide" instead of
"auto".

I TB! initiates the connection for me, i.e., when I try to send or
receive mail without a connection already established, the dial-up
monitor appears. When the connection is established, I have to hide the
monitor. In fact, the monitor never really disappears until I manually
hide it, even if I were to disconnect. (Although, come to think of it,
I've never disconnected with it, but usually abort, when a connection is
being attempted and I didn't really wish for it to happen).

That doesn't cure the problem. On my end there are not one but two
(2) dial-up monitors (one real and one fake) created by The Bat when I
dial in. The first shows up and makes the connection (and I like to
watch it do so hehehe). The second one shows up in the bar at the
bottom of the screen -after- the connection is made!!! I click on it,
then hit close and all is well since I am already connected... I just
want to know how to get rid of this second, fake dial-up box...

I think that this 'fake' dial-up box is the minimised first box that you
like to look at while connecting. This I have to manually close as well,
mainly because it takes up precious taskbar real estate.
