Hi! Happy New Year 2009!

Is it possible to put an image (PDF format) just after the title of a
MusiXTeX sheet? Japanese characters, for example :)

For information, I tried to include the Japanese characters directly in
XeTeX (thanks to Hiroaki Morimoto), but here is what I got:

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/5273/xdvipdfmxwg5.png

But on Acrobat Reader, it works fine. I'll try to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

2009-01-02 Thread Hiroaki MORIMOTO
Hi all,

[preamble to all]
I have been helping Jill-Jênn for these days (or, for months).
Since I'm not a MacOSX user, I had many hurdles about explaining
the multibyte-character typesetting with XeTeX.
However, we cleared them and thus now he can produce a PDF as
you know.

[contents]
> 1) Why dvips imagtitl didn't work, Jean-Pierre Coulon?

Although I have no knowledge about this, I guess the problem
is in writing font-encoding table into the PDF.
That's beyond my skill but I will write what I think about...
MusiXTeX fonts uses char0 to char32; ordinally control codes.
dvips has a option -G*, Shift low chars to higher pos.
(Of course xdvipdfmx does not have such option.) Perhaps using
-G* makes no effect, but is there any relation about this?

> 3) It's a pity that the Japanese text is a bit grayer than there:

Using color specials will do, but the syntax is specific on each
dvi->pdf translator. Each dvips/dvipdfm/pdftex have different syntax.
Using LaTeX a little absorbs the difference but the .tex source is dependent
on the software at all.

> Isn't it possible to include a PDF instead of a PS file in a TeX file?

Possible in xdvipdfmx (in the same way of dvipdfm). I forget the detail.

(personally, i would be using musixtex over pdflatex, in which case "the
normal way" is the latex standard graphics package. however, i've not
tried my patches on current musixtex with current latex, so can't
confidently say how this is done. you could use the latex standard
graphics with miniltx.)

looks as if xetex has its font selection mixed up. since i don't know
xetex, this comment comes without any sort of guarantee and without any
supporting "fix".

Hi! Happy New Year 2009!

Is it possible to put an image (PDF format) just after the title of a
MusiXTeX sheet? Japanese characters, for example :)

You must convert the image into .ps first. Say \input epsf at the
beginning of your MusiXTeX source, and say:

\hskip6.5cm\epsfxsize=6cm\epsfysize=8cm\epsfbox{yourpicture.ps}

(adjust the position afterwards).

There is an example with MusiXTeX source here:

Hope this helps,
