A caving trip in Feb. sounds good to me. Still trying to get ahold of Mike Gray

check out the repairs needed, or if we need to line up a welder, etc. Don't yet
know when my days off are in Feb.
Like you, my weekends off are few and far between.

Sound as if it is gonna be hard to organize a party for Christmas.
Lets plan a late winter / early spring caving party to Abyss, Ess or even Parks
Ranch for the last weekend in Febuary.  Which coincidentally is the next
available weekend off at this moment.  We could even bring gifts.

Just my thoughts, chances are I wouldn’t be able to attend anything

[PBSS] December Meeting

2012-12-07 Thread Ormsby, Matthew A
Cavers,

I do not have any significant meeting items to discuss in December. I am
willing to compile a presentation of PBSS caving activities from 2012 if
anyone is interested in having a Christmas party. I would be willing to
host the party at my house in Odessa on the 15th of December if there
are enough interested participants. If not we'll have our traditional
monthly meeting on Tuesday at Murray's, in which I could still show the
presentation, but I don't have any business to discuss. Please let me
know your interest and availability over the weekend and I'll send out a
final determination by Monday.

Tuesday at Murray's, in which I could still show the presentation, but I
don't have any business to discuss. Please let me know your interest and
availability over the weekend and I'll send out a final determination by
 Monday.

  Cavers,

I do not have any significant meeting items to discuss in December. I am
willing to compile a presentation of PBSS caving activities from 2012 if anyone
is interested in having a Christmas party. I would be willing to host the party
at my house in Odessa on the 15th of December if there are enough interested
participants. If not we'll have our traditional monthly meeting on Tuesday at
Murray's, in which I could still show the presentation, but I don't have any
business to discuss. Please let me know your interest and availability over the
weekend and I'll send out a final determination by Monday.

All,
Our Fire Department Christmas Party is the 15th. I for sure can't make the
meeting, though. I miss all you people.

I'd sure like to see a presentation, Matthew, since PBSS has done some good
caving this past year!

Jacqui

[PBSS] December meeting notes

2010-12-15 Thread J. LaRue Thomas

PBSS Meeting Notes

12-14-10

The meeting was attended by Matt and Alex Ormsby, Kerry Lowery, Bill
Bentley, Tony Abernathy, and Jacqui Thomas.

The meeting opened at 1905, and after a slight continuation of our
admiration of our new patches and our pre-meeting visiting we had the
Treasurer's Report. We had $606.40 before everybody started buying patches
and shirts.

The new patches look great and they are selling for $4.00 apiece.

We have 21 paid members and 11 of those are NSS members.

We caught Kerry up on the events of SWR Winter Tech and the NCKRI building.
At Winter Tech we met the new Cave Tech at Carlsbad Caverns, Jason Walz, and
it looks good for a rock haul in November. Although we know nothing can
happen this soon we came up with the 5th of November as a good date for us.

We also picked March 5th as a good Five Mouth dig date as long as it works
for the landowner. Jacqui will work on an Abyss trip for May. We would very
much like to go to Amazing Maze again-we have new members who have not been
there. Jacqui will contact Peter about getting the key and although we
cannot remember lambing dates we picked January 8th as a possibility.*
Perhaps we can go to Blackstone on the same weekend and Bill will check into
that possibility. We also talked about trying to work out a trip to
Montgomery again and Jacqui will check on that.

We talked about the Forest Service cave closures and a trip Matt and Alex
are taking to the High Guads.

Then we ran out of things to talk about and decided to close at 1955.

Jacqui Thomas, Pres.

*January 8th will not work for a couple of us so we'll check on other
January dates.

[PBSS] PBSS December Meeting

2010-12-12 Thread J. LaRue Thomas
The December meeting of the Permian Basin Speleological Society will be held
this Tuesday, December 14th, 7:00 p.m. in the back room of Murray's
Delicatessen in

Midland, Texas. We have the room at 6:00 so feel free to come earlier.

Murray's is is located at 3211 West Wadley in Midland.

Any and all are welcome! Although we have a bit of business, (another 5
Mouth dig to schedule, a Winter Tech report) we will be primarily being
Christmas-y and Murray's most excellent NY cheesecake will be involved.

[PBSS] December Meeting the 14th

2010-12-07 Thread J. LaRue Thomas

All,
The general concensus is: Normal old meeting at Murray's, in the back room
(which we have starting at 6:00 in case we want to start dinner then), with
PBSS buying the cheesecake. We only have a couple of business items and as
with any meeting, interested guests are welcome.

Not much interest was shown in bringing gifts, having a grab bag, dressing
like elves, or any other Christmas-specific activities. However, I'll bet
Christmas-type candies or cookies or other holiday edibles would not be
turned down by the majority of attendees.

Anyone who wants something Christmas-y bring it or speak up or whatever it
takes. Jacqui

[PBSS] December meeting and party

2010-11-22 Thread jlrbills
All,
Only one person has commented about having a holiday party in conjunction with
our regular meeting at Murray's.

Does anyone want this meeting to be a Christmas Party with family, etc. and
maybe a bit of some cheer (eg. white elephant grab bag, gift exchange...) or
should it just be a meeting?

If more than 10 or 12 people will be there I can try to get the bigger room. We
do have our regular room reserved for the regular meeting time and day.
Comments, anybody!? Jacqui
