[tw] Re: TW5: Are the parser's pragma rules documented somewhere? Anywhere?

2017-04-13 Thread Douglas Counts
As a follow-up, after looking at the source code

 for
the parser's pragma rules, I found the comment:

\rules except ruleone ruletwo rulethree
\rules only ruleone ruletwo rulethree

so, are those the only two pragma rules or are there more?

[tw] TW5: Are the parser's pragma rules documented somewhere? Anywhere?

2017-04-13 Thread Douglas Counts
After spending several hours reading the sound docs
 and even playing around with
Tobias' enable-js plug-in.

I noticed that I couldn't attach events because the TW parser is spitting
var target = document.getElementById("audio-div");

just after the get. So within the debugger, it looks like so:

var audio = document.get
ElementById("target");

Obviously, that isn't going to work. So adding the pragma

\rules except wikilink

fixed the problem. Which brings me to the question, where are these pragma
rules documented?

I even searched for the term except at tiddlywiki.com/dev/ and came up
empty. Is there a resource out there on these?

A how to article out there? Something? Anything?

Thank you guys or gals,

-Doug

[tw] Re: TiddlyFox seemed to stop working

2017-04-13 Thread Andrew Ashling
Hi All,

I have two questions:

1. TiddlyFox updated automatically on FireFox because I had left the update
option at "Default," and I can see the icon. Do I understand correctly that
I also need to enable this for every *TWClassic* file?

2. In actual practice I use the combo TWC+PaleMoon most of the time. I've
temporary frozen updates and I'm still using 1.0Alpha18.1, last updated
05/02/2016, on PaleMoon. Is there any reason why I should upgrade TiddlyFox
on PaleMoon?

Hi Josiah

The feature is undocumented yet, because it is experimental. Two things are
to consider:
– it needs an additional macro (my extract) so I might make it an option. I
don’t want to bloat the core
– I am misusing the header tag and will maybe switch to something else like

Thank you for testing the archive!

That looks like JavaScript string escaping; is that something that the console
is adding for the display? I don't see that encoding in my tests.

Well, your original request is to do something that is already done by the
core, so you might want to start with the existing code.

Ohhh :( I’ve just lost a day of work because of this as well. It didn’t
save anything, the computer freeze and I’ve had to restart it. When I
opened TiddlyWiki again all work was gone. I didn’t have clicked on the
TiddlyFox icon and the green button to enable the save again.
The icon change is so subtle I didn’t noted it…

[tw] Re: Problem with text in two columns

2017-04-13 Thread Juan Palomo
Thank you very much!!!

The truth is that it looks very nice. I had tried several alternatives but
none of them were the same as yours. The last one was a simple transclusion
on a two-column table, simple and effective, but looked at the edges of the
table and I did not like the result. I am a newbie to this in HTML and CSS,
the knowledge I have is almost null.

On the other hand, I wish I could avoid having to create two tiddlers, one
for the original song and one for the translation and have it all in one.
But if the way I want is not possible, I like your proposal, especially the
vertical bar that you have put.

Best regards.

P.S. And many thanks for the other proposal. ;-)

Re: [tw] Re: TiddlyFox seemed to stop working

2017-04-13 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Apologies, I hadn’t appreciated the impact of the change; I have to rely on
feedback from beta testers to smooth out the rough edges of things. (The new
version of TiddlyFox has been available as a beta for about 3 months).

The automatic update was a surprise to me, too. I submitted the add-on for
approval on 21st February and had almost given up hope that it would be
approved before the release of a version of Firefox that broke TiddlyFox.

TiddlyFox settings are stored using the Firefox extension standard storage API
for preference storage. I guess that it probably does get cleared if you nuke
things sufficiently powerfully; hard to see a way to avoid that other than to
store preferences somewhere non-standard, which seems like extra work, and
makes the Mozilla review process more complex.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

This happened to me as well and I don't see anyway for it to happen unless
Firefox automatically updated the add-ins. I count automatic updates that
change how the add-in works without notification as being a big mistake.

I seem to be constantly telling the thing that I want to enable saving for
the wiki even though I haven't knowingly updated anything. Does clearing
the cache, cookies, etc, also reset whether TiddlyFox has saving enabled?
If so, is there some way to change that behaviour?

Re: [tw] Invitation to TiddlyPip: an Apple App Store experiment

2017-04-13 Thread Jan

Hi Jeremy, Hi all...
I just realized that I got fascinated about a very old thread...
Has something like an easy way to publish a TW in an app with the
features specified in Jeremy's Mail come up in the meantime...
Also a way to publish TW with the normal features and interface would be
very welcome...

This really would solve some open questions for me at the moment.

Would you be interested in working together to create your multimedia
TiddlyWiki content and wrap it up as an app that can be distributed
and sold on the iPhone/iPad app store?

Here's the background for this invitation: I've recently finished my
work with CTRLio. I'm very grateful to them for the support they've
shown to my work on TiddlyWiki over the last 18 months. But now I
need to find new sources of income to replace my salary. There's a
few weeks in which I can consider some radical options, and this is
one of them.

I want to explore the idea of building a commercial TiddlyWiki
ecosystem on top of the Apple platform of iOS, the Mac and iCloud.
I'm not making any moral or philosophical judgement about Apple's
place in the world. I'm considering this plan just because the App
Store is one of the places that someone like me may be able to make
money.

This first step is simple: we create a framework for building iOS
apps that provide a terrific, read-only user experience for
interacting with TiddlyWiki documents. I'd want to support free or
paid apps, with the possibility of using in-app purchases for premium
content. It would be a way to deliver a highly custom, interactive
user experience around multimedia content. We would be able to
deliver free updates to the app and content via the app store update
process.

Such a simple application would be the quickest way to get into the
app store - I believe in just a few weeks. The aim would be for the
app to be invisible without much of a discernible user interface,
just providing the mechanisms for the content to take centre stage.
It certainly shouldn't resemble the familiar default TiddlyWiki
editing interface.

I'm open to suggestions about how to structure this from a business
perspective. I'd need some upfront payment to fund the development,
but hopfully we'd find a big enough handful of people that individual
shares of the startup costs would be relatively small.

If enough people can provide the necessary commercial backing we can
use TiddlyPip to publish Eric's "Inside TiddlyWiki: The Missing Manual".

Beyond simple read-only publishing, there would be a number of
incremental improvements we could make once we see regular revenue:

# Support read/write functionality like annotations, with iCloud
syncing between iOS devices.

# Support publishing custom, TiddlyWiki-based applications, such as
tw5.scholars. It wouldn't appear to be a TiddlyWiki file: it would
behave like a custom app for scholarly notetaking (including
multi-device sync)

# Support quizzes and questionnaires, with content unlocked by
successfully completing exercises

# Support reporting of progress to the TinCan API

# Support one-on-one student/educator interactions through the app.
Students might buy an academic textbook along with tokens to ask the
author 5 questions via messaging within the app.

# Create a full end-user application that enables the user to create
and work with TiddlyWiki documents on iOS devices. This is really the
ultimate goal from a development perspective. But it's a lot of work
to create such an app with enough polish to stand out in the app
store

[tw] Problem with text in two columns

2017-04-13 Thread Juan Palomo
Hello everyone!!!

I am trying to make a tiddler with two columns of text to put lyrics and
their translation to the side. I have tried it in several ways and I can
not.

-The first way I've tried is with the following code:

* Text of the column (right side) *

The problem I have with this form is that the text overflows the tiddler
and looks bad. What is there to add so that the text does not overflow the
tiddler?

-The second way I tried with this code:

 Text_A

 Text_B

In this second case, what I do not like is to see the edges of the cells. How
can they be deleted or hidden?

Thank you.

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] How to get the base html code and POST it to PHP server?

2017-04-13 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi sini-Kit

You can obtain the HTML text that would be used for saving with this snippet:

$tw.wiki.renderTiddler("text/plain","$:/core/save/all")

In terms of POSTing the wiki to a server you may want to try re-using some of
the code in $:/core/modules/savers/upload.js or $:/core/modules/savers/put.js

Best wishes

Jeremy

Hi Richard,

Thank you for posting the picture of the TiddlyFox toolbar icon. No for the
love of Pete
I do not see it anywhere in the toolbar.
Might there be any other add-on interfering? I have uBlock Origin
installed, but that is
switched of when I use a TW5 file from one of my hard-drives.
Like I said I'm using FireFox 52.0.2 (32 bits)

When I save the download dialog is triggered and I must save otherwise the
new tiddler I made is lost
when I continue to use the original TW file I was working on. I only can
continue working If I open that
new version in FireFox. Is really a hassle. Hope that someone can help as
it impedes my work greatly.

Salut! Ed.

I do not know if I get you right, but when the file is loadad you can
simply run:

var html = $tw.wiki.getTiddler("$:/core/templates/tiddlywiki5.html")

That will return a Tiddler object with the tiddlers content stored in the
property "fields" -> "text"
