[tw5] Re: Stroll - Idea Stew

2020-08-24 Thread Birthe C
W. D.
I looked at https://giffmex.org/gifts/ideastew.html the original work. I
have looked at it several times, but always feel it kind of work the
opposite way of my brain. Don't let that worry you, I have felt that
earlier with some of Davids work just for later to love and use it heavily.
It all comes to the question are you working from top to bottom or from
bottom up.
I think it is supposed to collect all the information in the Home tiddler
(Default tiddler in ideastew.)
It might be an idea to save a copy and test it in the original how you like
it and get to know it well. When you are sure it fits your way of working,
and know how it works, it will be easier for you to know if it will fit
with other changes you have done to your tiddlywiki.

I myself love Stroll https://giffmex.org/stroll/stroll.html It can be used
for a lot of things. David has made it easy for us to get the parts we want
to use in other wikis. Still some things just do not go well with other
plugins at least not without some changes.

I find that I have to try a wiki for some time, to get the feel of it. I do
not find it easy to understand just from the description. (also it is quite
fun. The tiddlers I created can always be exported and later imported into
another wiki or dragged and dropped. It is only after having used my wiki
for some time I start to know, what I need and what I would like. Still it
changes over time - and all the time. ;-)

Hello Birthe - thank you for your patient reply.

I did import the pill, however the Tiddly has been updated back and forth a
few times. Perhaps that plays a part in the question.

I am just beginning to play around with the application to see if it can be
effective for my needs. I am sure this will be something I figure out
eventually.

Appreciate your kind attention!

Sorry I have no idea of the functionality. You are new to tiddlywiki, you

In the standard editor Toolbar the "link icon" allows insertion of a

The problem is how you quote the filter inside the macro. Use the
tripled-quotes like this:
\define getWithStatus(myStatus)
<$list filter="""[all[tiddlers]contains:status[$myStatus$]]""" />
\end

Then, the value of $myStatus$ can contain quotes without a problem.

Hello All,

Suppose that I've a set of Tiddlers called "Recipes" ( Recipe01, Recipe02,

Where:
= This is OK
= This is OK
= This is OK
= This is "Not" OK
= This is "Not" OK

Also, I've a simple Macro to get all Tiddler by "status" :

```
\define getWithStatus(myStatus)
<$list filter="[all[tiddlers]contains:status[$myStatus$]]" />
\end
```

As expected, when I run the below macro command:
<>

The output is OK, I got :-
Recipe01
Recipe02
Recipe03

BUT, my problem when I run the following :
<>

where the output is (the macro content with substitution of parameter) :-
```
<$list filter="[all[tiddlers]contains:status[This is "Not" OK]]" />
```

Thanks in Advance

P.S, I've tried both """_""", and '_' for the parameter :-
<>
<>

but I got the same output,

Yes, that should be doable.
There is some info here:
https://saqimtiaz.github.io/sq-tw/streams.html#Extending%20the%20Context%20Menu

I can probably help you get the actions right. Are you thinking an option
that renames a node, and the subnodes *if* their titles begin with the node
title?

Or something to use after you've already renamed a node and the subnodes no
longer match in terms of titles.

That's the plugin that came to mind when I asked. I'll fiddle with it some
and see if sequential naming is an option.

Though, the concept of adding it to the context menu in Streams is
intriguing. I agree that you wouldn't want it to be default behavior, but
having the option from that context menu could be a helpful addition when
the minority use case presents itself.

Is that something I could add to the context menu? I know you've set it up
so users can create their own menu items.

No errors this time. This is a great improvement on the search. Having
that second tab dedicated to streams allows both a regular search and the
option to filter out the chaff in a stream and focus on the main tiddler.
That's perfect. And, it's unobtrusive too.

In fact, it's already allowed me to locate some dangling tiddlers with
no content that had somehow been removed from my streams. So, I was able
to
tidy up a bit.

[tw5] Re: [ Streams ] : feedback and issues

2020-08-24 Thread Keelan Cook

That's the plugin that came to mind when I asked. I'll fiddle with it some
and see if sequential naming is an option.

Though, the concept of adding it to the context menu in Streams is
intriguing. I agree that you wouldn't want it to be default behavior, but
having the option from that context menu could be a helpful addition when
the minority use case presents itself.

Is that something I could add to the context menu? I know you've set it up
so users can create their own menu items.

[tw5] Re: edit-comptext plugin and CodeMirror

2020-08-24 Thread History Buff
Hey Tony,

Thanks for the reminder to include a link to the plugin I'm referring to. I
don't have that good habit yet.

The functionality of edit-comptext that I haven't been able to get to work
is the autocompletion feature. For example, to link to another tiddler
within my wiki, in edit-comptext I start typing [[ and a few characters and
it pulls up a list of the tiddler titles that start with the characters
that I type. I can then use the arrow keys to scroll through the list and
pick the one I'm looking for. Since I have nearly 3,000 tiddlers, this is
extremely helpful because I can't possibly remember the exact title of
every tiddler. I know in the plugin that I have to select the editor type
as comptext which is probably part of the problem.

When you refer to an editor toolbar button, are you refering to the plugin
or CodeMirror? I don't see a toolbar button with the plugin.

Thanks,

Damon

[tw5] Re: Presenting TW5-CodeMirror-Plus, an inline wikitext syntax highlighter

2020-08-24 Thread JD
So exciting and fun to use! Thanks so much Adithya!

Maybe you can try using your own colour name, defining it in a color
mapping tiddler

$:/config/DefaultColourMappings/

So you can use <>, for example, where cm-highlight is
defined in

$:/config/DefaultColourMappings/cm-highlight

(documentation here: https://tiddlywiki.com/#colour%20Macro)

[tw5] Re: Effective ways to use Tiddlywiki?

2020-08-24 Thread bimlas
I further developed the previously written "hashtag link" idea into a
"metadata link".

It is a good idea to group hashtag links by category so that you don’t have
to browse a long list of all tags when, for example, you only want to see a
list of food ingredients. We can solve this with the conventional
"#component: Cheese" form, which also solves the notation of metadata
and field values. By opening the link and viewing its backlinks, you can
get notes that have the same "property".

Query compared to fields:

   - List of properties
  - Field: [all[tiddlers]fields[]]
  - Metadata link: [all[tiddlers]links[]prefix[#]splitbefore[:]]
   - List of values for the "name" property
  - Field: [all[tiddlers]get[name]]
  - Metadata link: [all[tiddlers]links[]removeprefix[#name:]]
   - List of notes where "name: Core"
  - Field: [all[tiddlers]field:name[Core]]
  - Metadata link: [[#name: Core]backlinks[]]

Usage compared to fields:

   - Without writing a filter expression, you can get notes with the same
property by viewing only the backlinks
   - Metadata is also part of the text, so there will be no duplication
  - For example, if we label the ingredients in the fields of a recipe
so that we can filter them, they should also be included in the text
  because of the amount required
   - A full text search will also find the values
  - This can be a disadvantage at times, for example if your goal is to
store "hidden" data independently of the text
  - If we create a search tab that lists missing tiddlers, we can also
  search for properties directly
   - We can refer to a specific value
  - For example, in TiddlyWiki we can't reference the "type:
application/pdf" field value to get a list of PDF files, but if we use
the
"#type: application/pdf" link notation, we can link to the specific
  "field value"
   - Different values for the same category can be specified with different
   links
  - Multiple values can be specified in a field, but it is not always
clear that a field can contain only one value or a title list.
   - Metadata links can only be placed in text notes, we cannot add them to
   binaries (eg PDF)
   - Text formatting options (such as in all Operator
    fields) are determined by the
text formatting options of the links, as this is actually just a link
   - It only fits to the surrounding text if the link text differs from the
target of the link (eg "0.2 kg #ingredient: Cheese")
   - They can also be listed at the beginning of a tiddler as a file header

Example usage:

Recipe

* 0.2 kg #ingredient: Cheese
* 0.5 kg #ingredient: Beef

Be sure to use #ingredient: Olive oil!

Music

# category: Music

* #author: Audeka
* #author: Rawtekk
* #album: Here's to them

... YouTube embed video ...

I created a ViewTemplate where we can view and filter the properties in a
table, just click on the links to search for more similar notes or open a
tiddler in edit mode to view the original content:
https://bimlas.gitlab.io/demo/tw5/property-comparison.html

[tw5] Re: Stroll - Idea Stew

2020-08-24 Thread Birthe C
Open the control panel from the little wheel icon in the sidebar. Go to the
info tab (The first tab to the left).

That is where you give your wiki the title, the subtitle, your username and
so on. But you are also asked to name default tiddler or tiddlers. That
will be the tiddlers you see when opening your tiddlywiki.

If you do it in Davids https://giffmex.org/stroll/goodies.html
you will see that it is the
tiddler named Get the goodies, hardly a surprise. The snippet mentioned is
a copy of what is in this tiddler.

Now go to your own wiki, open control panel, what is the name of your
default tiddler? Open that tiddler for editing, copy the snippet and
insert in that tiddler. Save and close the tiddler. When your wiki is
saved, you can refresh it in the browser to see your default tiddler
starting up.

[tw5] Re: TiddlyWiki Playground Broken (only for me)

2020-08-24 Thread Birthe C
Felicia,
Thank you, a bookmarklet will make it easier.

Tony,
Happy you got your wiki fixed.

Mark,
No, link missing the l was not the cause for me, as I had Tonys playground
bookmarked from earlier use. My bookmarks is in a tiddlywiki I drag along
as I shift from computer to computer or from browser to another browser.
As a matter of fact I have used that wiki from my first day of using TW5.
Early on the wiki was based on yet an adaptation from David Gifford, but
changed during the years of use. It has really helped me when running OS'es
from usb-stick, using my friends computer in a hurry and all that kind of
things. All the notes and comments is in Danish, much easier for me to
search that instead of guessing what something would be called in a foreign
language. Things I have used or just tested got comments making it much
easier for me when reusing. It takes a little longer bookmarking but not
long. I should add it is only used for tiddlywiki related bookmarks.

Birthe

What exactly happened?
Were you editing a tiddler with either no "type" field set, or "type"
text/vnd.tiddlywiki? It wont work for other content types.

You probably need to write an addon to extend codemirror, which might then
be able to re-use existing TW plugins or might need a custom JavaScript
based solution.

The following will list all tiddlers with a Journal tag and extract the
year number from the title,

   - If you are using the default journal title format DDth MMM
   - If you were using the created date or a journal date you could use
   firet[4] rather than last[4]

<$list filter="[all[]tag[Journal]]">
   <$set name=year filter="[{!!title}split[]last[4]join[]]">
<>

Now wrap this in a button to trigger it, and add an action widget to add a
tag to each tiddler for the year
For such messages we need to use the fieldmangler widget.
<$button>
<$list filter="[all[]tag[Journal]]">
<$fieldmangler>
   <$set name=year filter="[{!!title}split[]last[4]join[]]">
   <$action-sendmessage $message="tm-add-tag" $param=<>/>

Add tag for year

I will give you more soon.

To do the above through codemirror, it seems I need access to the specific
instance of texteditor to trigger the popup - I am stuck here. Are you
suggesting I use a TW plugin instead?

Joshua- The many of the colours are referencing the pallete. The
highlighting ones are hardcoded. Will figure out how to separate this in
the future. The css is pretty easy to edit and customize. Also, The Regex
might be useful. Thanks for sharing.

Tony, you can install by going to adithyab.tiddlyspot.com and following the

2020-08-24 Thread TW Tones
Hi,

So there is a tiddler called 2020 that tags 50 days or it it just a section
for all Journals with the year 2020?

Perhaps show us what one of the 200 tiddlers looks like, its tags or title?

If what you want is as we see, in your image there is no reason not to make
you own tab, rather than try and play with the tags functions.

We could also add a batch to add a "year" tag to all Journals, then you
could use the year tags?

For future reference: The easiest cross-browers way - at least as long as
the browser gives you a javascript console - is: localStorage.clear().
If you drop the below link into a tiddler/somewhere else html gets rendered
you can create a bookmarklet that clears the localstorage:

Clear localStorage

Off-Topic P.S.: Still working on your request for variables, just ran into
some very interesting problems and our heatwave wasn't helping with
processing the new information needed to solve them, so it takes far longer
than I expected. Terribly Sorry for that.
