[tw5] Re: Introduce Fishing, spaced repetition and active recall plugin for TiddlyWiki

2021-08-02 Thread oflg Li
hi, Atronoush

The 'Tips Usage' tags are automatically generated by the tags on the
tiddlers you want to revise.
You can add a tag to the tiddler you want to revise and the tag will appear
there.
These tags are used to categorize and you can revise tiddlers with this tag
by clicking on it.

By the way, you can use the field 'caption' to solve the 'Q&A cloze'
problem. Tiddler's title is 'Q' and the content is 'A'. 'cloze Q' and even
'choice Q' can also be created by using the 'caption' field. Try it out and
see if it solves the problem.

thanks

[tw5] Re: How to batch import journal entries?

2021-08-02 Thread Radish Records

It's two separate zip files one with pdfs and one with docxs, separate
files for every entry i wanna put in, naming scheme is like (Month Day -
title.pdf) although not everything is formatted identically.

The timestamps for date of modification are correct, so ideally i'd sort
using those.
It's not strictly one per day, sometimes they'll be multiple entries per
day.

All plaintext, very few have images and i'm okay losing them in the
transfer.

All in all it's only a few megabytes. 600 unique files.

2021-08-02 Thread TW Tones
Maxhi,

I think you need to share more information about the arrangement of your
data.

PDF and docx are less easy to transfer from than other formats, do you use
one or more files? or spreadsheets, are these files based on some time
period or every day, or by subject. However you organise these is it easy
to identify the breaks such as the difference between two days? Can you
download all your data in a zip where they can be accessed as files?

What is the total size of files, does it include images or Audio, are they
plain text or something else.

My experience has taught me you start doing it and find ways to make it
faster or more automated if possible. But if you don't explain the first
step - understand your data we can help much.

Never the less you can use special import tools, import multiple files at
once, import JSON, CSV, TEXT and more, and manipulate content after import.

Ha, I like that collapse button. It's a system component, so everyone
can simply understand what it does. And it was one of the inspirations for
 this plugin.

I've changed the cat-face difficulty button to text, and modified the
 "all, overdue" prompt.

Check out the new version at https://oflg.github.io/fishing/ !

I love the simplicity. The learning curve is very short!

 just some few comments
 1. the plugin uses the system wide fold button to hide the content of
tiddler, so if I wish to install the plugin in my current wiki and and not
use the folding for other tiddlers, this make problem for fishing plugin
I think there are many good tools/solution out there to hide
/show/slide body of a tiddler tagged with Fishing.
look at Thomas Elmiger details widget or Shiraz (by kookma) display on
 demand

 2. It is good to add more explanation one can understand difference
 between new, all. overdue, ...
 3. There is another plugin by James Anderson (
http://welford.github.io/twsr.html) it uses easy / difficult buttons
 which may be useful here

Thank you for all your talent and effort! Please keep going on with

Hi, Tones

It is simple to use for those who have used similar spaced repetition
systems such as Anki.
You can take a look at the anki documentation at
https://docs.ankiweb.net/studying.html#questions . It may be helpful.

Thanks.

[tw5] Re: Introduce Fishing, spaced repetition and active recall plugin for TiddlyWiki

2021-08-02 Thread oflg Li
Hi, Atronoush
The fishponds are not created but automatically generated.

When you add 'Fish' to a tiddler, it will be grouped into 'new, all'
fishpond.
After you revise it once at 'new, all' fishpond, it will be grouped into
old fishpond.
After that it will be automatically grouped into 'overdue, due, undue' at a
scheduled time, depending on the the difficulty button you click.

Thanks

I have this to create a new tiddler from a button with the current

It works fine but it also creates an unwanted draft tiddler as well.

Any ideas what's wrong with it?

When you transclude {{$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-tiddler}} you are acutely
 Transcluding the whole button, change this to {{$:/core/images/new-button}}

- Basically clicking on the button triggers both
$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-tiddler and $message="tm-new-tiddler"
- This highlights how a button widget acts somewhat like "on click"
- ActionCreateTiddlerWidget can create tiddlers without navigating
to them (in fact you need to navigate to them) and has more control
 than
 $message="tm-new-tiddler"

However why not use the new Journal here button?
 {{||$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-journal-here}}
You can change the title format, default content and tags in Control
 Panel > info > Basics

- Title of new journal tiddlers
- Text for new journal tiddlers
- Tags for new journal tiddlers

I have no real idea what I've just watched, small screen viewing probably
didn't help, but it looked impressive!
So was that a visualisation of git commits Mario?

It all looks like an awful lot of work so thanks Jeremy and everyone!

I am glad to create a flashcard plugin for TiddlyWiki - Fishing, which
makes remembering tiddler more efficient. It's designed to be simple and
easy, without the need to switch to any external system like Anki, all you
need to do is simply add tag 'Fish' to the tiddler you want to remember.

I have been using it for a few weeks now and would like to share it
with TiddlyWiki Lovers and get some requests and feedback on improvements.

@Eric,
I go with the $set widget solution, for me it is simpler and as you
explained seems to have the better performance!

[tw5] Simple suggestion to help new people

2021-08-02 Thread George Albercook
When I found the group I was very excited it has lots of member and
activity. Best of all it felt very welcoming. I did have one very difficult
challenge. I was reading the group on my phone. There was no "New Comment"
button. I was expecting a "post" or "new post" option and I was expecting
it on the page that I was reading. It took me about half an hour to figure
out that I had to be in desktop site mod.

If someone can edit the welcome message at the top of the screen that would
be very helpful. I you could mention both the desktop site thing and that
new conversation is under the three bars at the upper left it may help a
lot of other be folks

 just some few comments
 1. the plugin uses the system wide fold button to hide the content of
tiddler, so if I wish to install the plugin in my current wiki and and not
use the folding for other tiddlers, this make problem for fishing plugin
I think there are many good tools/solution out there to hide
/show/slide body of a tiddler tagged with Fishing.
look at Thomas Elmiger details widget or Shiraz (by kookma) display on

 2. It is good to add more explanation one can understand difference

2021-08-02 Thread Mohammad Rahmani
Very nice plugin! As others have said, it is simple to understand zero
dependency!

It is also possible to use several card per tiddler, that way you may like
to use what Atro proposed

See: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/details

caption question title
you can add field caption with question to tiddler to change the
showing title.

The status can be changed programmatically!

Also a simpler solution can be find
here:
file:///C:/TW/00.%20Plugins/TW-Shiraz/repo/docs/index.html#Tutorial%20Display%20on%20Demand

By the way, I like the current design and am happy with that!

Best wishes

Hi, Atronoush

Ha, I like that collapse button. It's a system component, so everyone can
simply understand what it does. And it was one of the inspirations for this
plugin.

I've changed the cat-face difficulty button to text, and modified the "all,
overdue" prompt.

Check out the new version at https://oflg.github.io/fishing/ !

When a streams node is presented in edit mode, the core edit-widget that
creates the input field gets focus. The edit-widget will not update its
content while it has focus. This I believe was implemented in this manner
in the core so that refreshes while typing would not lead to data loss or
the input field suddenly changing while typing.

So it does sound like the node is switched to edit mode too early. The
timing of actions within a single block of action strings is a bit tricky
to work with in such situations. I have had issues in the past with the
opposite, where the editing input field doesn't yet exist when I try to
focus it with an action string. If you have code that I can look at, I may
be able to suggest workarounds.

[tw5] Re: Difference between filter and subfilter?

2021-08-02 Thread The Islander
Hi Tones and Eric,

I greatly appreciate your detailed replies! Reading through them clears it
up for me thank you.

It may be useful to add this sort of clarification to official
documentation - the motivations behind some of the more complex filter
operators. If anyone feels it's appropriate for me to request this as an
open issue on github, please let me know.

The "filter" filter operator in particular is difficult to search for, due
to its identical naming to the parent concept of a filter, and other
related naming concepts like the "filter" filter run prefix.

Thanks!
