There needs to be an empty line between the non-bulleted line and the 1st
bulleted line.

[tw5] Re: Plugin prototype: Command Palette

2020-06-16 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Souk,

Just tried Command Palette in my wiki and wanted to report a visual bug: It
doesn't take in the custom theme applied by the user. I am using a dark
theme and the search box still takes dark gray text color. Also, the
dropdown remains black text on white background. I've attached a
screenshot. If possible please fix.

@Reet Pandher I tried resolving the save wiki bug, but I'm out of luck. I'm
> gonna ask over TiddlyWikiDev.

Thanks for looking into it. FYI You can create a new tiddler and then
delete it to save the wiki. Maybe under the hood you can tell the *save
wiki* command to do that? I don't know if it is even possible to do
something like this but gonna throw out the idea anyway.

Hi Souk,

A bug(?): The command *save wiki* does not seem to work. I get the message
*saved
wiki* but the save button is still red and i have to manually save it. I am
using tiddlydesktop

Also one request: Please add a command to access control panel directly.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick response Saq. No worries please take your time.
Also a request regarding the css.. please try to make it like this

I was able to customize codemirror without any css knowledge because of how
easy it was to read. I'm not sure if it is even possible to do it for your
plugin but i'll throw it out there.

FYI plugin won't update via drag and drop if the version is either same or
lower than the current one. You'll need to delete the existing one and then
drag and drop the new one.

[tw5] Is it possible to divide this Google group into subgroups?

2020-06-07 Thread Reet Pandher
Sometimes it gets hard to follow the posts in this group. There are just so
many types of posts here ; technical questions, general questions, noob
questions, new plugins etc.

If it is possible then might I propose a layout
 that may work for us?
It'd just make it easier to follow certain types of posts.

If not possible then can we introduce categories that you have to put
before your headings like we do in Github. e.g. *[General]*, *[Plugin Help]*,
*[New Macro], [Idea]*, *[New Plugin], * etc.

Obviously i haven't been long enough to dictate the policies. It's just an
idea that i feel like might help.

[tw5] Re: CodeMirror: Wrap line on indent. Is it possible?

2020-06-06 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Pmario,

I wanted it to be a global behaviour. I use codemirror specifically because the
ability to indent using a tab indent allows me to rely less and less on the
preview pane; it becomes really easy to see which line is the heading,
sub-heading, main text etc. Very helpful in long typing sessions.
That's why the lines not wrapping at indent is a bit of nuisance as it takes
away the clean look of the document. But if it can't be helped I'll make do
with what i have.
I think I'll raise a request on Github anyway. Hopefully in the next versions
of the plugin it'll be fixed!!

Thanks

2020-06-05 Thread Reet Pandher
This feels more natural and better. The previous version wouldn't let me
click the github link in the roadmap tiddler, it would just enter the edit
area.

Also, small suggestions:
1. I feel like visually it would look better to have a single line (maybe
spanning the complete tiddler?) show up instead of double when we create a
bullet.
2. Once we click outside the edit area it should close the edit area. It
would feel more natural.

Thanks

[tw5] Codemirror Theme and Autocomplete query

2020-06-03 Thread Reet Pandher
Regarding theme:

I am unable to change the theme of the codemirror editor box in TW. I
followed the instructions given in *$:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/usage *but
no luck! It sticks to it's default theme.
Themes i tried: blackboard-black

and blackboard.css

Regarding Autocomplete:
I used Saq's solution
 for
autocomplete and it works great but there is one small issue with it: It
requires you know the exact initial letter of the tiddler title or else it
won't show the correct tiddler! Is there any other modification available
that'll make work more like *edit-comptext* plugin. I would use
edit-comptext but sadly these two don't work together!

Any help will be appreciated

Mark,

Thanks for sharing the links!!
This seems a bit beyond my level of understanding. For now i am just trying
to move all my exam related notes into TW so i am trying to keep it simple.
For now the ability to copy paste from excel sheet to TW is more than
sufficient. Maybe in the future i'll try to broaden my understanding TW :)

Yes that's what i'm doing.
Just curious is there a plugin(or macro) that allows atleast the editing of

Right now i am stuck typing 400 bars.

I looked up a solution by jed and it seems too complicated for a task as
simple as creating a table. Plus it kept creating the row and column
headings as separate tiddlers which is a no-no.

is there a simple plugin to add a button in the edit toolbar that inserts a

2020-06-01 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Saq,

Why not use implement both of those use cases?
Have 2 lines show up when creating a bullet. The 1st line will be the
tiddler title and the second line will be the tiddler text/body. Down arrow
key should be able to navigate between two rows since the titles aren't
going to be more than a single line anyway. Once you move on to the next
bullet point only the title line is visible. Once you click on the title,
the body becomes visible again

Forgive me if my idea sounds too impractical. I speak from a non-coding
user POV so my ideas are bound to be a little stupid :)

2020-06-01 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Saq,

Wouldn't making the bullet text the tiddler title make more sense?

I say this because here's the use case i had imagined for this:

I will have a single tiddler that will display a logical structure of how all
my tiddlers are arranged, what is connected to what; sort of like TiddlyMap but
with bulleted list. It'd also be a way better alternative to creating a
contents tab.

   1. Right click on* nw.exe* and click on *create shortcut* and rename the

   2. Then browse to *C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs*
   3. Create a folder named *TiddlyDesktop*

Hope this helps.

2020-05-28 Thread Reet Pandher
Well until it gets a web version or an android app i don't think it
competes with TW.
Plus strollwiki with Tiddlymap is a pretty fantastic combo i'd say.
IMO the biggest problem why TW doesn't immediately appeal to the broader
audience is the difficulty of theme customization. And even when you do
manage to change the colors in the default wiki there is no guarantee that
your plugins will also respect it.
Also stuff like TiddlyMap needs a bit of a facelift, doesn't matter to me
but for the general public

Hi Dave,

No issues. For now whenever i need that TiddlyMap feature i just import all
my tiddlers into an empty tiddlywiki file with tiddlymap and just work from
there.
Having it work in Stroll would just be a bonus addition :)

Re: [tw5] Re: Stroll updates

2020-05-27 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Dave,
Sorry to bother you again but i have noticed a bug with TiddlyMap that
exists in strollwiki but not in tiddlywiki.
When you enter fullscreen mode in TiddlyMap in strollwiki and double click
on a node it displays the following error:
Internal JavaScript Error
Well, this is embarrassing. It is recommended that you restart TiddlyWiki by
refreshing your browser
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'shiftKey' of undefined

Normal behaviour for this action is that tiddlymap will open the
corresponding tiddler inside the map itself (which is a pretty handy
feature when reviewing multiple tiddlers for exams).

I have tested this on an empty strollwiki file as well so it is not caused
by any plugins.  Also, i didn't apply the tiddlymap fix for stroll either;
tiddlymap was used as in it's original unaltered state.

If possible please look into it.

Thanks

[tw5] [For Beginners] Setting up Tiddlymap to view all maps

2020-05-23 Thread Reet Pandher
First off let me say please don't ask me any technical questions. I learned
all of this by spending too much time on google. I don't know what any of
those code snippets mean. The intent of the post is to make sure no other
new users have to waste their time.
Second, it's just sad that for a community so active we have so little to
offer in terms of clearly written easy-to-follow-guides for beginners. I
hope that changes.

Here is how to setup tiddlymap to view all tiddlers:

1. In your tiddly map click on the 3 horizontal bars on the right of the
view tab.
2. Create new view
3. Enter the following code and hit OK :

<$tmap view="All" editor="advanced" >

4. Click on the bars again and rename the view to *All*
5. Click on the bars and Configure View.
6. Paste the following code in the Node Filter column under Edit Filters
tab:

[!is[system]]
+[limit[100]]
NOTE: you can delete the +[limit[100]] line if you like.

7. Select Floating Nodes under Layouts tab and hit OK.
8. Go back to the configure view and uncheck Floating Nodes Layout.

The background color still refuses to change. But the entry *color: red;* took

Hi Tony,
I am currently using your plugin and it works great but i ran into an issue
today. I changed the background and foreground color of my TW. Background is
black and Foreground is white.

Issue is when i am hovering over the tiddlers in the Backlink section the pop
has applied the white color to the text BUT it still has white background. So
nothing is visible anymore. Is there any way to change the background?

[tw5] Re: Redesign of TiddlyWiki

2020-05-20 Thread Reet Pandher
I'd appreciate if y'all can also focus on making some *very basic
*functionalities
accessible to those who cannot code.

For e.g.

   1. A properly labelled color palette like i suggested here
   .
   2. Add an option in the control panel to change fonts and font sizes
   without having to edit some code {I am genuinely surprised this isn't
   already there.}
   3. Ability to create a todo list without writing a macro (add a todo
   list option into the editor.)
   4. Ability to collapse text inside a tiddler (or at the very least allow
   us to create a shortcut for things like these)
   5. A proper(and up-to-date) guide on wikitext shortcuts that work in TW5.
   6. If possible have some color coding inside the editing section(For
   example color code the headings(Exclamations}, indents{colons} etc.)
   because currently i feel lost when writing large amount of text. And
   looking at the preview pane everytime is just so distracting and slows me
   down significantly.

I feel that stuff as basic as that will go a long way to help us lowly
non-coders :)

<$button class="tc-btn-invisible" popup=<>>

$heading$ {{$:/core/images/fold-button}}

<$reveal type="nomatch" state=<>

Changed the image from chevron-right to fold-button. It is a smaller icon

Hi Tobias,

Sorry to bring up such an old issue.
Just wanted to check if there is any way to add a arrow indicator to the

I tried a few other Macros which have the arrow feature but all of them
remove the formatting of the heading text. So would there be a way to add

Thanks!!

Hi, I know it sounds pedantic but i'd really appreciate if the theme
palette was a bit easier to understand. Coming from notepad++ this one

what. It just isn't user friendly. Plus there's the problem for some of the
themes color palette preview is incorrect.

I am completely new to TiddlyWiki and i would like to share my experience
on accessibility of TW to the general non-coder populace.
If it wasn't for this guy's tutorials

i would have never gotten into TiddlyWiki.
I tried it once last month and i absolutely couldn't figure out what to do
and how to do it. There was just no user friendly guide available on the
website. Then out of the blue YouTube recommended me his videos. The first
thing that came to my mind was why the hell is a tutorial like that not
available from official sources.
I think you should post his tutorials on your website. They are super good
for priming a non-programming newb brain.
I was out on the market looking at every possible alternative for a proper
note taking/Knowledge Management application and they always seemed to lack
one thing or the other. Now i have completely shifted all my note taking as
well as my Knowledge Bank over to TiddlyWIki now. And to think i would have
been dissuaded to use this amazing product had it not been for a random
YouTube suggestion.

[tw5] Question for long time TiddlyWiki users

2020-05-17 Thread Reet Pandher
Have you tried the encryption feature of the tiddlywiki?
If yes then has it been reliable for you? Reliable as in Has it caused any
sort of corruption or loss of data even when you know your password? Does
it work properly even when you have large amounts of data stored in it?

Thanks!

Export the desired tiddler to a .json file and drag and drop the .json file
into the wiki.

[tw5] Re: [Question] Is there a way to limit number of backup files with TiddlyDesktop?

2020-05-16 Thread Reet Pandher
I don't think it'll be added.
Read an old comment from the dev here:
https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyDesktop/issues/58#issuecomment-103140483

You will have to manage it manually.

Hi Dave, Just wanted to let you know that the stroll that you have linked
in your comment is working perfectly.
So here's an idea.. why not provide a download option for an empty stroll
with tiddlymap configured with the modified code on the stroll website.
That'd be amazing!!

Thanks
Reet

Hi Dave,

No worries. I can work with what i've got.
Regarding the /n in the code i haven't changed or added anything(apart from
the fix for tiddlymap). Perhaps our code is a bit different because i am
using TiddlyDesktop and the process of installing TiddyMap is a bit
different in TiddlyDesktop ( See: http://tiddlymap.org/#Common%20Pitfalls)
Anyways, Thanks a lot for your time and effort.

Re: [tw5] Re: [Presenting]: STROLL official rollout!

2020-05-16 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Dave,
I tried the fix for TiddlyMap.
I am getting the following error:
*SyntaxError: JSON.parse: bad escaped character at line 538 column 57 of
the JSON data*.

I tried it with 5 different copies of my original file. I tried editing the
tiddler in TiddlyDesktop as well as in Firefox and Chrome. The result is
the same. After saving the file breaks.
This is the process i followed:
Go to Options> Plugins> Open *$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap* Tiddler>
Edit and Save the tiddler.

Here is *where i pasted *the code:

"$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap/hook/editor": {
"title": "$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap/hook/editor",
"caption": "Map",
"tags": "$:/tags/SideBar",
"text": "\\define width() calc(100% - 15px)
*I_PASTED_THE_CODE_HERE*\n\n\n \nThe editor is not displayed
in mobile mode.\n  \n\n\n
<$tiddlymap\nclass=\"tmap-sidebar-map-editor\"\n
editor=\"advanced\"\nobject-id=\"main_editor\"\n
click-to-use=\"false\">\n  \n"
},

If you copy paste the *$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap* Tiddler text into
Notepad++ this block of code is in line 534 - 539

Here is *what it looked like with the code pasted *in:

"$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap/hook/editor": {
"title": "$:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap/hook/editor",
"caption": "Map",
"tags": "$:/tags/SideBar",
"text": "\\define width() calc(100% - 15px)\define lingo-base()
$:/language/ThemeTweaks/

<$select
tiddler="$:/themes/tiddlywiki/vanilla/options/sidebarlayout"><><>\n\n\n \nThe editor is not displayed in mobile mode.\n
\n\n\n  <$tiddlymap\n
class=\"tmap-sidebar-map-editor\"\neditor=\"advanced\"\n
object-id=\"main_editor\"\nclick-to-use=\"false\">\n
\n"
},

I also tried the pasting the code after removing all the spaces b/w
ThemeTweaks/ and <$select tiddler...
Same Result. File Breaks.
Please let me know if i am doing this correct at all.

2020-05-16 Thread Reet Pandher
Hi Dave,

First of all Thank You for putting in so much effort into Stroll. I have
switched to Stroll now from my typical TiddlyWiki.
I have but one query: In my original TiddlyWiki i used TiddlyMap. I
installed TiddlyMap on Stroll and it seems to override the two-story layout
and reverts it to a default tiddlywiki view. I understand it is because the
TiddlyMap needs the space to open up. Is there any way to expand the view
back to two-story mode once i am done viewing the map?
