[TMIC] the snow outside --- OT

2008-02-24 Thread Alton Ryder
The temperature is about 15°; the sun is seemingly as bright as in
August. The snow on the lawn, about two feet deep, is undisturbed and
lies in smooth undulations like Sahara dunes in miniature. Crystals
of ice from twigs overhead are scattered sparsely and glint like
stars. I am enchanted.

Brrr, thanks for sharing Alton. You know, I worry about kids today. I'm afraid
they don't ever stop to describe in print what they see or feel. Have you read
any of their text messages? It is all abbreviations and made up phases. Thanks
to you, in just a few words from you I've transformed myself to your front lawn
and feel the sting of winter on my skin. I can see the snow drifts elegantly
flowing along the fence line and can hear the thundering silence of the frosty
morning sun blasting across the sky. Thanks for sharing!

encouraging. Here in Montreal we have received over three times the nomal

this week. I love the snow but when you have to go the store for the little
groceries I need with a walker it is no joy. At least you gave me the SPARK

Wow Alton. That sounds so beautiful. I know that a lot of people don't like
winter but personally I love the 4 seasons. Even when the cold makes TM
more difficult I couldn't imagine living somewhere else. Calgary has had a
pretty good winter despite the minus 50 (with the windchill) a few weeks
ago. It didn't last long though. I know that everyone in Canada have had a
lot of snow and freezing rain this year.

Thank you so much for your beautiful description of your view out your
window. I too would buy a book that you write.

Thanks,
Heather in Calgary

[TMIC] I hate my job!

2008-02-24 Thread Westgold

When you have a I Hate My Job day, try this: On your way home from
work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a
rectal thermometer made by Johnson Johnson. Be sure you get this brand.
When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the
phone so you will not be disturbed.

Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair.
Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a
table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken. Now the fun
part begins. Take out the literature from the box and read it carefully. You
will notice that in small print there is a statement:

Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson Johnson is personally
tested and then sanitized.

Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times,
I am so glad I do not work in the thermometer quality control
department at Johnson Johnson.

This is horrible. Every hospital has an ombudsman, whose job is to speak on
behalf of those who cannot or will not speak for themselves, and to intervene
in problems between patients and staff. Just call the hospital and ask to
speak to the ombudsman, and tell him or her what is going on here. It will be
taken care of. Nobody should be left to cry in pain And if the staff
doesn't like what you've done and think they might like to take it out on poor
Jude, tell that to the ombudsman too. She needs people to intervene on her
behalf now -- NOW is the time to do something, before it is too late.

[TMIC] UPDATE ON JUDE....

2008-02-24 Thread ROSEOFRENO
Hi Everyone ~
I had a wonderful chat with Jude today. She wanted me to tell all of you
how very much she is appreciating all of the cards, flowers, books, CD's,
etc.and to tell all of you that you are keeping her spirits up...!! She
is
just amazed at the outpouring of love she's receiving from this TM family.

I learned she has five new bed sores since going into this nursing home.
She described them to me and I about fell off my chair.one of them is
the size of a small orange. I told her she needed to go back into the
hospitaland she agreed...and will be calling her PCP (personal care
physician)
tomorrow.

They have done nothing for these bed sores so I got a package together
for her with Melaleuca Oil, bandages, triple antibiotic cream, everything I
could think of and got it off to her. She has Dave looking for it now because
she is going to try it on the sore on her ankle. I told her to just do the
one sore and see if there is improvement...if so, use it on the other sores.
She will need more than just the Melaleuca Oil but it's a start in the right
direction. This is the best tree tea oil on the marketit soaks in and
heals from the inside out.another paraplegic friend of mine used it and
now
swears by it he uses it whenever his skin gets the least bit red because
he knows a sore is beginning and he nips it in the bud with this oil.

I even got some advice from Jude today regarding Fentanyl patches. My
neuro just took me off my Oxycontin and has me trying the Fentanyl patch and
I've been curled up in a ball of pain for the past three days. Jude told me
he
needs to up my dosage...what he gave me isn't strong enough...so I'm calling
my neuro tomorrow regarding this. My pain has been off the charts this
winterworse winter with TM in ten years of living with this dang
syndrome..!

Jude needs us now more than ever so please keep those prayers going up.

   Love to all,
   ~ Lynn
