[TMIC] Baclofen
Need a little help. I am presently weaning myself off of Cymbalta (hated it!) and am down to 30 mg from 60 mg and I will be off of the Cymbalta within about 2 more weeks. Once I am finished with the Cymbalta I am going to retry ( I tried it more than 10 years ago) Baclofen. The Neuro gave me a prescription of 10mg 3 times a day...but he told me to build up to this dosage over time and to cut back on the dosage if my leg starts to buckle. My question is for those who use Baclofen (not the pump) what are the dosages you take. Also let me know the benefits I am hoping it will reduce the excessive banding.and any negative side effects Baclofen has caused you. Much thanks...and everyone...Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Re: [TMIC] Baclofen
i have been on baclofen for over 2 years. i am supposed to take 100mg a day but usually just take 80. the people that make the stuff say to take no more than 80 but my neuro told me to take 100. mine is a 20 mg pill. sometimes it makes me a little sleepy. it has helped with the spasms in my legs but not a whole lot with the banding in my right side. if i do not take it I not only have more pain with spasms but i jerk a lot. John ...I almost never spasm and I can walk and drive unassisted.but the banding just above my right leg makes me walk crippled. The Cymbalta helped with the banding but the anti-depressent side effects outweighed the benefits. Hopefully the Baclofen will benefit the banding without the side effects. What have other members of the group found to be the most effective drug for banding ?? After 13 + years with TM I will try almost anything for some kind of relief! I can now honestly say that I no longer remember what it felt like before TM...sad!! Re: [TMIC] Baclofen
Hi Rob, I've been taking 30 mg twice a day since I was in rehab (8/95)It does not help my banding at all.It does stop my spasms.I tried to cut down the dosage once, and my legs went nuts i.e. kicking, shaking. I don't notice any bad effects from it. I do have times when my legs buckle, but that happens when I overdo and my legs are tired. I did read an article about a woman who lost weight and became confused due to staying on the same dosage of it. Hope this helps. RE: [TMIC] Baclofen
Rob, I've never had relief from banding;it's been intense since 8/13/95. Never easier or better;just awful. I read a lot and watch tv to keep my mind off it. [TMIC] Money
Please don't send birthday cards tomorrow as it is my birthday. Please send cash or money order for my retirement fund. I'll hold my breath.

[TMIC] Cat Scan Adverse Reaction
Has anyone ever had adverse reaction to a cat scan with contrast. I don't know if I had an adverse reaction or sheer coincidence, but about 30-60 minutes after the cat scan, I developed pain (I think neurological) which I still have 24 hours later. My lesions are at T7-T10 and this pain is about 3-4 inches right of my spine and about 4 inches up from my waist and in my groin area on the right side. I reported this to my Internal Medicine doctor's nurse and naturally she said it could not be from the radiation or the contrast but rather just lying on the hard table for 15 minutes. I didn't feel uncomfortable, but I could have strained getting off the table. I tend to think that the pain in my back is neurological and the pain in my groin is muscle, but I don't know. Respond if you have any ideas. Carol Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles; It empties today of its strengths.

Re: [TMIC] Final diagnosis: Transverse idiopathic
Dalton, that's my diagnosis, too it still leaves me wondering. Do you keep a journal/calendar/list of symptoms, times, actions: this may help with possible triggers, causes and treatments. Further-- since it is idiopathic I would urge you to investigate using acupuncture, acupressure and add regular massage to your curative tool kit. Happy holidays, Akua --
