[TMIC] Dr Kerr
This week I learned that Dr Douglas Kerr will be leaving Johns Hopkins in January and relocating to Boston. I do not know the details other than he will be seeing new patients beginning in mid-2010 at Harvard. Based on the recent announcement by NIH and the fact that 11 of the 13 embryonic stem cell lines approved by NIH came from Boston Children's Hospital, that he will have a better opportunity for research and treatment thru this new venue. I will miss him dearly and hope to travel to Boston one day to see him again as we all get closer to a cure for TM, MS or any other spinal cord injury that can benefit from stem cell therapy.
Re: [TMIC] Dr Kerr
I wonder then if he will still be working with the Transverse Myelitis Association? Hi TM Friends, Today Dr. Kerr spoke at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan NYC. There were about fifty or more people in attendance. I sat right up front in the first row. First Donna Jackson Nakazawa spoke about the increase in auto immune illnesses. She made us realize the importance of going green in our daily lives. The products we use are so loaded with chemicals which trigger our immune system into thinking we are the bad guys. Diet, cleansers, cosmetics all contribute to illness. Of course stress is a major factor which leaks cortisol into our bodies. She used the word autogenic in the same way we use the word carcenogenic. Doug spoke about many auto immune diseases, in fact I think I was the only one there with TM. Many trials are being done with MS. They named so many different diseases. He also talked about stem cell research. I asked him what was being done about pain related to TM, and he just said they were working on it. I don't think, at this point in my life, I would be a candidate for stem cells, however I really would love to see some serious research to help the horrible nerve pain, instead of all those medications. He mentioned Project Restore at Johns Hopkins for more information. Doug also talked about Cody Unser and the work the two of them are doing in Washington. We spoke a little after the lecture and he seems to think things are ready to go if we can only get through the politics. Let's hope our new president will lead the way. Take care all. Tobe :O) Brooklyn NY

I have it somewhere... try 1.410.614.1522 or google Johns Hopkins. They have a 800 number for patients. It is a world-wide 800#. The wealthy of the world make appointments at Johns Hopkins. My ex bro-in-law who lives with his wealthy wife in Montana was diagnosed with brain cancer and had an appointment at J.H. two days later. He's completely cured three years later Good Luck F

Rob, How old is your # for Dr. Kerr?? Mine, I realize, is very old. I use his cell #, but haven't spoken with him in at least 4 years so that number is probably out of date. F

Hi Tobe in Brooklyn (where I was born and grew up and went to Brooklyn college), Too bad the discussion is in Feb. I will be in Fla. at that time or I would have tried to make it. Sounds like it would be interesting. I hope you go and report back to us about it. Take care, Rosalie (from Woodbury, Long Island, NY and Florida) In a message dated 8/10/2008 5:31:44 A.M.
