Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Why do flacs sound so nasty on touch?
Do not decompress all your flacs to wav, because in this way you will loose all tags informations. In the flac there is a place for the information about artis, album etc, transferring flac to wav is deleting this info. You can change the setting on your sb server so, that the server will decode flac in wav on the fly and Touch will receive wav instead of flac (btw this incease the sound qauality) and all tags will be still present. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Problem with buffering
Thank you for sharing your issues - seems like this is a problem Logitech should investigate. I am not a programmer, nor very technical, but to mee it seems like the Touch needs a firmware update related to lossless formats, where it starts buffering before playing lossless file formats, instead of starting to play while buffering. Buffering while playing might work on lower resolution files, like MP3s, but on lossless formats, with their related file sizes, this is obviously too ambitious. I doubt that there are any problems on the serverside, as the files/ file images plays just fine for the rest of the album, as soon as the buffer is filled. Is there a formal way of raising this issue as a defect to Logitech? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] port 9000
If I understand correctly then the issue that you have is that your Touch does not connect to your local SBS server, correct? First check that the SBS version that you installed is at least version 7.5.0. Older versions of SBS do not support the Touch. The next thing to check is that your Touch is properly configured. It should be setup to connect to SBS. From the home menu go to My Music Switch Library. There you need to select the computer name of your laptop. If it still doesnt work the check if SBS is running on your laptop. I dont have a windows install but if I recall correctly it is able to run as a service. So in Services it should be running. If it still doesnt run then I would try to created entries in the Windows firewall for the port 3483. -- Pascal Hibon 2 x SB3, 1 x SB Boom and 1 x SB Radio - all wireless ReadyNAS NVX running SBS iPeng on iPod Touch.
