They are indeed just a list of songs but beware the list includes the full path to the track which will work if your iTunes SBS are both running on the same Windows box but a playlist entry created on SBS on Linux is going to look something like share/music/play-this-track.mp3 and that won't mean jack s*** to iTunes -- d6jg d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86460 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Album Cover Art not rendering on Touch
WMP definitely treats the album art files it creates (inlcuding folder.jpg), as protected system files. As a result these all have system and hidden attributes set. they will only be shown in Explorer if Hide Protected system files is UNCHECKED. Are these files being stored on a PC and accessed via a SBS running on that PC or are they being stored on the Touch and accessed via Tiny SC, the Squeezebox Server running on the Touch itself? Sounds like the former, but I just want to be sure. -- Davidg1 Davidg1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35004 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86436 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Instructions for connecting USB DAC to Touch
JohnSwenson;619541 Wrote: This is your problem, you didn't go back to the original asound.conf. If you want to play music using aplay over the USB port, you CANNOT have the USB DAC setup as the default device. Squeezeplay opens the default device, and if its the USB, squeezeplay gets it, which means aplay cannot open it, (because squeezeplay already HAS it). Here is the rule: to play music with aplay, the default device CANNOT be the USB DAC. If you want to play music with squeezeplay (the Touch's normal player, from the touch screen etc), the default device HAS to be the USB DAC, You cannot switch between the Touch and aplay with the same configuration. John S. Dear John, May be it was not clear in my explanations, I do not have only one PCM name defined in my asound.conf but several. I did not want to put the entire asound.conf that I use now during that debugging phase and only the part of interest. Since I noticed that it did not work straight I removed usbdac/plugusb as the default. That allows me to boot (every time I tried to boot with the Scarlatti as default, with or without anything else defined in asound.conf, the Touch did not simply start). I am still long way before trying anything with Sqeezeplay. I was hoping that it was related to a missing module (I know that it could be embedded in the kernel during the compilation) but it was the only idea I had. Anyway after deleting the file I left a completed DB rebuild running when I left for work this morning and lo and behold the album artwork has appeared on the touch. Looks like the problem was that the file was marked system. That's quite an old album so was probably ripped with WMP9. Newer albums don't seem to have that file. The best bet is to delete any reference to USB from the asound.conf and have aplay access the DAC by card number. This works where using the names sometimes does not. See if that makes any difference.
