Does nobody use the official Spotify App through MySqueezebox?

Would be interested to hear if anyone has it working without the

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Genre then album

2011-07-15 Thread JJZolx

No, you can't. But you should have an 'All Albums' link at the end of
the artist list, which is the same thing. Just takes another step to
get there.

If you're using the remote you can scroll upward in a long list to get
there quicker. That doesn't work in the touch interface, but it's
fairly easy to get to the end of a long list by using the scroll bar.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] unable to access webpage from another client.

2011-07-15 Thread JohnSwenson

The Touch itself does not have a web server, so pointing a browser from
another computer at the Touch's IP address will not do anything.

If you want to control the Touch via a web page from another computer
you need to point the browser at the computer the server is running on.
The web page on the server will let you control the Touch. The outside
world talks to the server and the server talks to the Touch.

That ip address is local host ( only works on computer running SbS).
Yours should be something like

192.168.1.102:9000

Note I'm just making up the ip address above. Yours will be different.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Display turns on by itself

2011-07-15 Thread mbg

Are you sure it's not related to power outages?

I am running the latest non-beta firmware and this happens on both of
my Touches when the power goes out and comes back on. When the power
goes out and the player is in an "Off" state, when the power comes back
it ends up in an "On" state (which is usually Now Playing) and I have to
turn it off.

The main reason I notice is that my screen is set to turn off when it's
"Off", so after a power outage the screen is no longer off.

You may have missed Terry's second post, the one with the link to
instructions for installing on a GoFlex. I strongly suggest that you
look carefully at those instructions, because installing server
software on a NAS is rarely as straightforward as installing software

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] NAS drive.

Good news:
Here is a thread that says that the server software can be run on the
GoFlex:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79954&highlight=GoFlex&page=2

So it should be possible to use the GoFlex to host the music server.
Then you do not need to have your PC running while playing music.

First, it is not clear that you realize that the Touch is a music
player, but it needs to be connected to an amplifier and speakers to
make music.

The Touch is intended to play music that is "streamed" to it from some
external server. Think of it as a component, like a CD player that you
would connect to an audio system. But instead of having to load a CD to
play, the music is stored on a server elsewhere, and streamed to the
Touch over wired or wireless Wi-Fi. The Touch lets you browse for and
select the music you want to hear, then plays it and sends the music
signal to your audio system, either through the RCA cables (analog) or
optical (digital)connections.
So you also need a music server running somewhere in order to listen to
your music. The server is a computer of some sort that runs (hosts) the
server software and has access to the hard drive that contains the
music. You could host the server on your PC and it will work very
well, but your PC will have to be running whenever you listen to music.
In this case, you would connect your hard drive directly to the PC.
The server software running on the PC will read the music from the hard
drive and stream it to the Touch, which converts it to a music signal to
play through your amplifier and speakers.
The Touch can not access the hard drive over your Wi-Fi network
directly. It can only work with a music server that is connected to
the hard drive.

If you don't want to use your PC for the music server, there are many
other options. It doesn't take a very powerful computer to work for a
music server, so a small NAS, or a Vortexbox, or an ATOM based
computer, or even a "squeezeplug" can be used. You can read all about
these on this forum. Most people try to find something that doesn't
use much electrical power, so they don't mind leaving it on all the
time. You need to read up a bit on the various options and ask
questions and decide how you prefer to run the music server.
I would suggest that to get it running first using your PC and become
familiar with the music server software and the capabilities of the
Touch. Then you can switch over to a NAS or Vortexbox or whatever
later, using your same hard drive with your music on it.

There is one more way to do it:
You can directly connect your hard drive to the Touch with a USB cable.
Then the Touch can play the music on the hard drive. But to do this,
the Touch will be running a smaller version of the music server
software. It will not be as responsive or have as many options as the
external server on a computer. Some people do this and are very happy
with it. It means you do not need any external computer or anything
running elsewhere while using the Touch. Again, you can read about
this setup and try it out to see if it is to your liking.

I hope this helps get you started, and good luck with your new Touch.
I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Terry

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Tracks finishing early and skipping to next song

2011-07-15 Thread gingerneil

I've been having this same problem for a while now. I installed the
latest nightly on Windows Home Server yesterday, but this did not fix
it.

My music is generally purchased from iTunes, so tends to be AAC. I have
tried other builds from 7.5 upwards, but have the same issue. Tracks
skips randomly - some will play fine, others will skip within a few
seconds of the start, or half way through. I'll have a go with some
earlier ones having spotted the download page posted above for all
previous versions. I'm sure I didnt have this in 6.x - but I will try
from 7.3.4 and work my way downwards.

Both devices I am having issues with are SB2, one is wired and one is
wireless. Everything comes through fine when I play remotely using
stream.mp3 across the interwebs.
