Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
On a Touch the file is located here /etc/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs Enable remote login in the Touch settings then log on to it using SSH via a terminal on Linux or OSX or a terminal app on windows (like putty) . Edit the file with the vi editor Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96767 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I mixed up some things here did not realise that OP used Touch on-board server ,that has no settings :-/ running the normal LMS on a computer/NAS/Something ,then you have this preference easily available , but on the other hand migth not need it at all then . However if you find the server.prefs file there is a value "precacheArtwork: 1" that you could experiment with , but given Touch slow speed it could be slow selecting any album as the art is pre cached when it encounters unscanned art in an album . I 've been experiencing this problem with artwork scanning for quite a while, too ... and when I thought I solved it (had few months without it), it just resurfaced out of nowhere! For the record, I have near 20k files on that HDD. Now, I have firmware 7.7.2.9663 on my Touch and would like to do exactly this - disable artwork precache, but I could not find the option you mentioned (not there nor under another menu). Is this dependent on firmware release? Do you know by chance where to search for the setting to change this configuration through command line? congole's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40776 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96767 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
Hello Mnyb, there was no artwork in folder as I had deleted them first. Very strange. Even when i look at the tags no artwork is shown. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
Hello all, Well, pleased to say problem is know fixed. I used Mp3tag to remove all artwork and that still didn't fix it so I devided my collection in half and loaded 1 half onto a USB stick. The touch scanned the stick correctly. Good so fare. Then I had a stroke of luck. I had decided to add albums 5 at atime until it failed the scan. The next five albums I added made it fail the scan. I then removed them one at a time until the scan completed successfuly. It turned out to be a Kasabian album which according to Mp3tag doesnt even have any artwork. Very strange. The result is I know have my hole collection minus 1 album all running lovely. Thanks for all the help. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
Missed that one re using the Tiny server in Touch = no settings . And very limited cpu and ram (and no swap ,by default ) = erratic performance . Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
BTW, I would eject the SD card from the Touch, and on your PC delete the folder .Squeezebox. Replace in your Touch and rescan. kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96767 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
Perhaps some unusually large embedded cover art in some of the files? The recommendation seems to be that artwork should be kept under 500x500 pixels and be in jpg format, don't think it's a hard size limit so if some files are slightly larger it will still work but a few really large images could probably kill things. alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96767 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Pre-caching artwork problem
Hi, New to the forums but was hoping for some help. I have had a Touch for about six months. Up untill now I have been running it of off a NAS310 NAS drive. The NAS drive has failed so I wanted to move my music onto a 32g pen drive. I have about 21g of music. I loaded my music onto the drive and plugged it into the USB port on the Touch. I started the squeezebox server on the touch and it scannned the 32g drive. It completed Discovering Files and Scan new files successfuly but when it gets to pre-caching artwork it locks up. Thinking this may be due to some dodgy files in the music folders I cleared out everything apart from music files but still no good. So I then tried loading the majority of my music onto a SD card, same result. I did try loading 5g of music onto a sd card and this time it completed successfuly. Am I exceeding a size limit that I'm unaware of? I have updated FWto 7.7.2-r9663 but this has not helped. Am I doing something dense? I'm more than capable of it. :O) Any help gratefully recieved.
