This problem has plagued me for ages and have just come to these forums looking for information to find this comment. My squeezeboxserver is current debian-testing which is 7.5.6. This installs firmware v130 on my sb. However, I use mysb.com frequently and I find that it often blanks out and doesn't respond to the remote. Sometimes it prompts me for a software update, and when i do that it goes to v137 which then seems to work fine. However immediately after that update, I can't go back to squeezeboxserver because it just prompts me for another update (even though 134 is 137?). How can I get around this cycle? My sb never used to do this. If your SBS server version is not the same as the MySB server version then you will always be prompted to upgrade/downgrade on every server switch. The only way to avoid this is to not switch servers or update your SBS to the same version as MySB, currently 7.6 -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89103 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I am running squeezeboxserver on ubuntu using the debian testing apt source which is 7.5.6~32834. I just checked and stable = 7.6.0, unstable = 7.6.1~32935. Testing version is supposed to be between stable and unstable so clearly logitech/slimdevices have a problem with the testing repository and have had these problems for a long time. Since doing the 7.6 update, the SBT doesn't recognise the server (no IP addr) when wired ethernet. With wireless, it can't find DHCP. I have 7.6 and I get update available to 7.5.4 Are you using the official 7.6.0 release or a nightly 7.6.1 build ? If you are using the nightly 7.6.1 build that could be the problem because there doesn't seem to be any 7.6.1 firmware directory available at mysqueezebox.com so it might use firmware it has downloaded in your old installation. Try to delete any files in the updates directory in the Cache folder and restart SBS and see if that solves it. Listening to internet radio via SBS doesn't require the computer to be on at all times -- only all the times that you want to listen to internet radio. :-) What I'm suggesting is a workaround to tide you over until you can get your server to successfully run the same version # of the software as mysb.com. Whether you succeed with 7.6.0, or 7.6.1, whatever, who knows? Only you can decide which of the three workarounds is less inconvenient for you. This would be my preferred ordering, from most to least convenient: 1) connect via SBS (tip: you'll find that suspending the computer instead of shutting it down when you're not listening makes this more feasible), 2) refuse the firmware upgrade/downgrade by using the left arrow on the IR remote (I think a quick left-to-right swipe on the Touch's touchscreen also works), 3) switch between mysb.com and SBS, and live with firmware upgrade/downgrade shuffle. When things get back to something resembling normal then you can resume switching between SBS and mysb without doing the firmware dance. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89103 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
