Ports 1-4 of a Edgepoint 16 are either 24vdc 4 wire or 48vdc 4 wire power.

So I assume that ports 1-4 cannot be used to power a Rocket Prism AC which
is 24vdc 2 wire plus return on 7/8 wires?

Wouldn't even ask question except someone (me), accidentally plugged 2
Rocket Prism ACs in ports 3 and 4 of the EdgePoint 16. Caught it before
powering the ports, but it does mean a 185' climb to switch the ports! So I
thought I would ask the stupid question anyhow, since the temps are coming
down to late Autumn levels. (What happened to winter?) Bonus question.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Edgepoint 16 power handling

2016-11-30 Thread Clay Stewart
Dont have that answer, but did find out if under power E16 you will have
big issues. We had a voltage drop in the run and low output 46VDC. All
48VDC outputs worked fine, but ALL 24VDC ports would come and go!

Our solution was this:

TSP-360-148 Traco PS, combined with Battery switch TSP-BCM48 for backup,
added PCS-C40 120VAC breakers for protection, and on 48VDC output at
battery switch we added an adjustable stepup regulator to get 56.5 VOLTS to
send up tower. Small footpring, DIN RAIL Solution. Fits in a NEMA 18x18
with lots of air space available. Batteries in separate box of course.

Yes, we had that issue when we were using a POE inserter that was less than
1.25 amp. Make sure you use the POE that comes with the EdgePoint, it is
rated higher than the POE that comes with the RM5s

If you are using a 24v setup, we started using the Mean Well RSD-100B-24 as
a DC-DC converter before the inserter and our problems disappeared.

But to answer your question, I do not know how to remotely check the power
on the edgePoint

Is there a way to see the supply voltage on a Edgepoint 6.I have 2
Rockets connected to one that keeps rebooting. No errors and no log. Only
radios rebooting. I think I need more UMPH up the tower. But I am not able
to see what power is getting there.

Re: [Ubnt_users] EdgePoint summary issue

2016-09-03 Thread Clay Stewart
I have decided that one of the AC ports has a bad wire (not likely,
pretested), bad UBNT surge (likely) or bad radio or port. As soons as I
turn port on, all 24VDC ports go low voltage.

We have had an occasional issue with UBNT surges when put on Gig VDC
radios. I guess another tower climb is in order.

strange for the 24vdc ports being used (5-8)

The voltage is showing 7-13 volts and current draw jumping from 50-500+-.
These ports have AC AirPrisms which use 24vdc .5Amp Gig power supplies.

So, the EdgePoint says the radios are powered, with low voltage 15 or less,
and the radios are not staying on?

[Ubnt_users] EdgePoint summary issue

2016-09-03 Thread Clay Stewart
The summary screen of interfaces is showing 4 radios down on ports 4-7
while the POE tab shows amps and power... and the radios are up and running.

Anyone seen this? It is running 1.3.0 (cant upgrade as a new brewery is on
it with a grand opening today.)
