[Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-06 Thread Eduardo
We have currently using v5.6.6 and want to try v6.0.3, was told that v6.0 was
more stable.

Does someone have the v6.0 firmware?

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-07 Thread Nick Bright

v6.0 is said to have disassociation problems.

I tested v6.0.3 on several sites with a mix of XM/XW (mostly XM) 2.4GHz
hardware. Mostly RM2 AP units, some BulletM2 units. Mostly AirGrid and
PowerBeam SMs.

It was stable, with no disassociation issues, but we had a non-trivial
number of SM units exhibit a *significant* drop in RX signal strength -
but it was not consistent across the AP. We also showed experimentally
that restoring that one SM unit back to 5.6.15 (leaving the AP unit at
6.0.3) restored the signal strength to the previous level. Some clients
lost as much as 18dBm RX strength.

We chose to go back to 5.6.15 at that point.

Just checking, did you also note a drop in modulation to match the drop in
modulation? Just want to make sure the RSSI drop you've observed is not purely
cosmetic.

We are late adopters here, so no experience.

6.0 was a double edge sword, it did improve some PtMs, but was dropping

I tested v6.0.3 on several sites with a mix of XM/XW

BulletM2 units. Mostly AirGrid and PowerBeam SMs.

It was stable, with no disassociation issues, but we had
a non-trivial number of SM units exhibit a *significant*
drop in RX signal strength - but it was not consistent
across the AP. We also showed experimentally that
restoring that one SM unit back to 5.6.15 (leaving the AP
unit at 6.0.3) restored the signal strength to the
previous level. Some clients lost as much as 18dBm RX
strength.

We chose to go back to 5.6.15 at that point.

There were issues with stations refusing to reassociate until the AP was
rebooted up to 6.0.3. So far so good with 6.0.4 for me, but it was
infrequent enough in 6.0.3 that I can't confidently say it's fixed in 6.0.4.

We've installed 6.0.4 in a few APs and STAs in both bridge and router mode

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-08 Thread Ridgetop Networks
It moved from beta into general release pretty fast, like some other recent
firmwares have. I think there are other motivations like security patches
and high priority bug fixes, when it moves fast like that - making
important updates available to people who aren't beta testers.

I haven't had any problems yet with v6.0.4 beta, for what it's worth... On
the other hand, I had been running 6.0.3 beta for weeks before I saw
problems.

The problem was observed in 6.0.3, and was corroborated by the customers
complaining of slow service. We confirmed that throughput was poor; so
it wasn't just a UI artifact or some kind of reporting error. Rolling
those specific clients back to 5.6.15 did veritably fix the issue.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-08 Thread Brian Hesterberg via Ubnt_users
I had 6.03 and it was horrible. First time I'd upgraded in about a year. After
the upgrade, customers would slowly disconnect from the AP. Took about 3 hours
for 25 customers to drop. I'd reboot the AP and they'd all come back. Had
multiple reports of slow service the next day after upgrade.
That's for both RocketM2 and RocketM365 AP's.
I won't touch any v6 for some time now.

I tested v6.0.3 on several sites with a mix of XM/XW (mostly XM) 2.4GHz

PowerBeam SMs.

It was stable, with no disassociation issues, but we had a non-trivial number
of SM units exhibit a *significant* drop in RX signal strength - but it was not
consistent across the AP. We also showed experimentally that restoring that one
SM unit back to 5.6.15 (leaving the AP unit at 6.0.3) restored the signal
strength to the previous level. Some clients lost as much as 18dBm RX strength.

We chose to go back to 5.6.15 at that point.

I tested v6.0.3 on several sites with a mix of XM/XW (mostly XM) 2.4GHz
hardware. Mostly RM2 AP units, some BulletM2 units. Mostly AirGrid and
PowerBeam SMs.

If anyone on here is actually with the WISPA organization, please reach out

It was stable, with no disassociation issues, but we had a non-trivial

it was not consistent across the AP. We also showed experimentally that
restoring that one SM unit back to 5.6.15 (leaving the AP unit at 6.0.3)
restored the signal strength to the previous level. Some clients lost as

We chose to go back to 5.6.15 at that point.

EPMP elevate and new ePMP AP's. Problem solved.

Joking, but it will solve the pain.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-09 Thread David Hulsebus
We continue to run 5.6.9 and below; mostly 5.6.5. We had an issue with
6.03 last week. Took a system with 4 PB-400 clients and a PB-400 AP and
upgraded them. When we replaced the 3rd client on the list below with a
new PB400 after a storm because of a 10MB ethernet issue. Within 18 hrs
of replacing it the RX side of that radio was dropping to 1.625 rates.
We kicked it, it came back up fine and the next day did the same thing.
We downgraded them all to 5.6.9 and haven't had an issue since. The MAC
is F0:9F:C2 When we have time we will take an older MAC address based
system out and try upgrading again.

We didn't see any RX power drops with 6.03 but these were the first five
systems we updated.

Our experience in mixing Nano Bridges, Power Beams, and Nano Stations on
a system have not been good over the last couple years. Now it looks
like same family and mac's may be an issue as well.

YMMV, Dave Hulsebus

I tested v6.0.3 on several sites with a mix of XM/XW
(mostly XM) 2.4GHz hardware. Mostly RM2 AP units, some
BulletM2 units.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware V6.0

2017-05-09 Thread Jan-OOLLC
I had a whole case of new nanobeams do that to me. Sounds like it was
firmware? Good I didn't scrap them yet. Seems I was not able to
downgrade them, is there a trick to it? Sorry, that's off-topic, make
it a side-note. What I was thinking of doing was making an AP run 6.0.4
and CPE run the 5.6.15 on just one network and watch it. But if this
will cause them to go to sleep every 10 minutes I can get in a lot of
skeet practice. Right now some APs are on 5.6.9 and most CPEs are on 5.5.11
