Well thats useless. My scour invite was also sent automatically like this. What these invite apps do is invite using the Address book. And Gmail users have a addressbook full of anyone who was sent a mail from their account. What measures should be taken is block messages like this through filters. Hey this is really a good post. You mentioned about keeping reserved resource(hackers) yes. Thats really really important. Also u forgot to mention about activities. I'm suggesting some following yours. 1. Holding formal meetings once in month. Sharing active knowledge. 2. Holding workshops, training sessions. Providing solutions 3. Sharing hacks and customization tips especially locale specific ones. You don't need programming to use Linux. Yes, It works differently then Windows but that do not mean you have to learn programming. Remember you had to learn to use Windows too. Its same with Linux. You have to give some time. Learn the basics. and when you have the basics it will be more fun and easier to use. Linux is awesome to those who gives a little time learning it. File System basics: http://www.freeos.com/articles/3102/ Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux As for your problems, You need internet to install applications using the package manger. Its the best way to get applications in Linux. without internet its too much for any newcomers to download and install applications. I think there were some guys who made some package collection DVD. may be you can ask them, or you can download required packages from this site by your self https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/ or You can download mint Linux, which is a variation of Ubuntu but with all the multimedia packages. http://www.linuxmint.com/ have fun :) Mahmood -- Ubuntu Bangladesh mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd

I want to use Ubuntu as a multimedia operating system, will it be possible? How? I want to start using open source software but the problem we(the people don't have active internet connection) face, turns us to use pirated software (e.g. Windows) again.
