I think it all comes down to the final integration of art and photograph. Maybe http://www.desktopography.net/ can help for inspiration? Although it's got some wild pieces with a lot of contrast, you'll also find proof that the contrast can be soft if done right. Bonjour, J'écoute parfois le hockey RDS à partir de mon mac (j'ai jamais été capable de le faire fonctionner sous Ubuntu). Ils utilisent les codecs de microsoft pour faire fonctionner leur diffusion de match, et évidemment, ça cause plein de problèmes, entre autre le fait que ce soit super lourd à utiliser (malgré le fait que j'ai une machine dernière génération, j'ai des pertes de framerate), la qualité est assez moche pour un fichier si lourd et finalement, ça ne marche pas (facilement?) sous Ubuntu. J'ai décidé de leur faire part de mes commentaires, et je voulais vous demander votre avis sur leur propos, qui font l'éloge de microsoft. Je ne suis pas un expert en encodage, alors je me demandais si vous connaissiez des alternatives valables pour les produits qu'ils utilisent, question que je leur suggère (malgré le fait qu'il ne risque pas de changer, mais au moins je les aurai bouché ;) ). Quand à l’encodage, le hockey est le matériel le plus compliqué à encoder puisque qu’il regroupe les 3 plus grands problèmes d’encodage vidéo : 1. une grande surface réfléchissante (la galce) 2. des mouvements de caméra hyper rapide 3. de l’action sans arrêts Nous utilisons le advanced profile de wme 9, qui est un des meilleurs présentement pour un encodage à la volée (live) de ce type de contenu. Le smooth HD développé conjointement par akamai et microsoft utilisera le même codec et est présentement une des avenues les plus promettante présentement dans le monde de la webdiffusion. N’oubliez-pas qu’il serai impensable pour nous de prendre 2-3 secondes pour encoder un frame, comme le font parfois les productions DVD haute qualité, car personne ne voudrait suivre un match en direct terminé depuis 1-2 heures. Est-ce que je peux me permettre de leur répondre que les codecs ogg serait aussi rapide a utiliser et beaucoup plus performant pour la diffusion LIVE sans avoir l'air d'un idiot? C'est mon sentiment, mais puisque je l'ai jamais essayé moi-même, je veux pas m'embarquer dans quelques choses que je ne connais pas beaucoup et parler à travers mon chapeau. Il semblerait que RDS se réfugie plutôt derrière une guéguerre technologique pour atteindre sans le dire, les mêmes objectifs. Merci, Marc-Antoine, pour les explications, mais reste que je trouve que cette façon de répondre à une invitation est plutôt décourageante et n'incite pas vraiment à adhérer dans l'enthousiasme à la «philosophie» du libre. (Entendons-nous: jamais je ne reviendrai en arrière. Je défends le libre et en fais la promotion chaque fois que j'en ai l'occasion.) Je ne me qualifie pas exactement d'idiot en matière d'informatique. J'ai déjà, dans une autre vie (avant Windows 95), été technicien spécialisé dans l'installation de réseaux Novell; j'en ai donc vu d'autres. Mais je ne comprends tout simplement pas cette approche absolument rebutante pour accomplir une tâche aussi ridiculement simple que celle d'ajouter mon nom à une liste de présence. Bien sûr que j'irai, même si mon nom n'apparait pas sur la page RSVP. J'étais au lancement de la 8.04. Mais je tenais à faire savoir que parfois le groupe ne prend pas les bons moyens pour rallier les non-nerds. Déjà qu'il faut avoir du coeur au ventre pour participer à cette liste. Je connais des forums auxquels la participation est tellement plus simple. C'est comme si on tenait à séparer «the men from the boys». Hi -- I use iTunes on my OSX partition for most of my podcasts, but there are some technical ones I'd like to start collecting on my Ubuntu partition -- usually screencasts. So what does the wider, great british ubuntu community recommend as a podcast collector? You visit their site and watch the video in a browser based flash plugin as opposed to downloading them. That said there are ways and means to download video from youtube, and indeed miro can do that too. Hallo I wrote my first Bash script! However I am struggling to find a way to test if 2 paths are the same: 1. I use a for loop to run through a set of folders in a path (lets say /home/myFiles/) 2. Now Test if the File Extension is = mpg 2.1. If true then I would like to know if the path of the previous mpg file is the same as this mpg file 2.1.1. Hi -- there was a thread recently during the course of which someone recommended gitso, and several people appeared to be converted on the spot! I'm after following the advice there, now, but am stuck on the bit where I'm supposed to open/forward port 5500. Basically, I haven't a clue how to. Could someone advise me on how they did it / where I should look to learn? Hi mate You need to do this on your router and have a static internal ip. Go to www.portforward.com and follow any guide but just use a different port (5500). Thanks, Basic instructions - I did this for the a sky router, but hopefully will be vaguely similar for any other one. 1 - Log into your router's administration site 2 - Look for something relating to services 3 - Add a new service, if it asks for a beginning and end port, you can just select 5500 for both. 4 - If you are using DNS to assign IP addresses to your local network, you may want to check this section and try to reserve an IP address for the machine you want to use Gitso on - this will mean that the firewall will use the same IP address to send the gitso information to. 5 - Go to the firewall rules. Add an outbound rule for the service you created previously. Add an incoming rule for the service and point it towards the internal LAN IP address that you have reserved for the machine you are going to give support from. 6 - Save and apply settings. Remember when giving support, the person needs to use your IP address that is your connection to the internet. this can be found by either looking at the routers status / connection page, or visiting a site such as http://whatsmyip.org/ - this IP address might change if your router re-connects. If so, then the is an option -p which means it is not an error if the directory already exists. It also creates parent directories as needed, so: mkdir -p $newPath/Sound/MP3 mkdir -o $newpath/Sound/wav will do what you want without the need to test. (BTW, it's forward slashes / in Linux, not backslahes!) Of course, I may have misunderstood what you are trying to achieve. Hi I'm wondering if string in Section Recommended packages installed by default that reads if you want to make this permanent, set APT::Install-Recommends false; in /etc/apt/apt.conf. shouldn't be change to if you want to make this permanent, type sudo echo APT::Install-Recommends false; /etc/apt/apt.conf. In my installation of 9.04 I have not /etc/apt/apt.conf file and probably I had not it in my 8.10 as well. Maybe I wrong and accidentaly I removed apt.conf file some time ago, so I would like to ask you if this file should or not be in default installation. Thanks. Nesse caso, eu formatando mas querendo usar o Ext4 no /, pelo que entendi tenho que usar o grub-install, é isso mesmo? No caso quando a instalação é limpa (no meu caso) vou conseguir fazer um grub-install (já que a frase comenta que o sistema não irá dar o boot) ou vou ter que usar um LiveCD da vida depois só para isso? Aí é só começar a seguir o tutorial/manual. Não tem coisa melhor. Se for para aprender a fazer sites, primeiro aprenda HTML, depois JavaScript, depois vá atrás de uma das 500 ferramentas que você vai receber como resposta para esta tua thread e aprenda a usá-la BEM. No meio do caminho aprenda a manipular figuras no Gimp (tem um videocurso muito bom do LedStyle na Internet), e a criar desenhos no Inkscape. Se tiver uma grana sobrando, entre em algum curso de desgin, para aprender a fazer visuais mais coerentes com a teoria da beleza, essas coisas e, se não tiver medo de programação, aprenda Java / PHP / Phyton ou alguma outra linguagem para servidor. Mais ou memos a ordem das coisas que você DEVERIA aprender para ser um BOM web designer e/ou web developer. É isso! Voce pode abrir duas janelas origem e destino(ssh) e arrastar arquivos dum lado para o outro que funciona. Fiz isso durante a temporada do 8.10. Se o que precisa é apenas transferir arquivos poderá instalar também o filezilla, um programa de FTP muito bom e que suporta sftp, como é chamado esse tipo de conexao ssh. Se voce formata o /, então não terá problemas. Eu também faço assim, e comigo deu tudo certo. Parece que o grub-install mencionado é requerido para quem vai optar por fazer o upgrade não destrutivo dessas particoes. Talvez dê certo com vocês, pois imprimo tudo em pdf com qualquer aplicativo que use: instalem o kpdf (mesmo que não o usem) e experimentem. Não sei se na instalação do kpdf algum recurso cups adicional é instalado porque não tive situação que me forçasse a verificar esse problema que vocês estão tendo. Todos os aplicativos, sejam html, imagens, docs ou planilhas são impressos em pdf sem qualquer problema no meu 8.04. Pergunto porque meu procedimento sempre foi esse, deixo o meu /home e só informo o ponto de montagem e formato o /, até para dar uma zerada em tudo. Nesse caso, eu formatando mas querendo usar o Ext4 no /, pelo que entendi tenho que usar o grub-install, é isso mesmo? No caso quando a instalação é limpa (no meu caso) vou conseguir fazer um grub-install (já que a frase comenta que o sistema não irá dar o boot) ou vou ter que usar um LiveCD da vida depois só para isso? Não sei se a pergunta é meio idiota, mas é que a frase não ficou muito clara para mim e como não gosto muito de suspresas desagradáveis, resolvi perguntar antes. :) Milton, Não há nenhum problema, porém a formatação em ext4 não parte direto por padrão, você tem que gerencia-la. Se na hora do particionamento você escolher automático, o hd será formatado em ext3 e o swap será criado sem sua intervenção. Você terá que optar pelo particionamento manual, criar a partição primária, defini-la como /, seu tamanho e escolher ext4; em seguida criar no espaço reservado o /swap. Daí em diante tudo seguirá normalmente sem sua intervenção. Parece que o grub-install mencionado é requerido para quem vai optar por fazer o upgrade não destrutivo dessas particoes. Pelo que lembro da ultima instalacao do jaunty não havia como fazer o upgrade duma partição para ext4, o unico jeito era apagar e criar de novo como ext4, a não ser que tenham incluindo isso recentemente ao instalador. Valeu então pela informação Hamacker... agora é só esperar mais uns dias então e mando ver no meu laptop o Jaunty. Meu procedimento é sempre esse faz tempo já... formatar o / e deixar meu /home. É só apagar as palavras quiet e splash do menu do GRUB ou colocar nosplash. O initramfs é usado para outras coisas fora o Splash. É interessante tu consertar se tiver errado. Se tirar a palavra quiet ele aparece o Splash junto com as mensagens dos daemons. E se tu colocar outro quiet embaixo do initrd ele esconde tudo, até as mensagens do kernel antes do Splash. Tem algum Windows instalado nesta partição? Se sim, dá um boot por ele. Tá parecendo que não tem nada na partição, que ela tá fazia. Não era para tá acontecendo isso. O Linux tem um bom suporte para NTFS - leitura é 100% e para escrita já dá pro gasto. O gparted não somente lê como pode modificar tamanho e outros parâmetros... -- André Cavalcante Porto Alegre, RS. [Ubuntu-BR] [OFF TOPIC] Saiu o resultado do julgamento do The Pirate Bay
Conforme se pode ver aqui: http://macmagazine.com.br/blog/2009/04/17/grupo-do-the-pirate-bay-e-considerado-culpado-e-sentenciado-a-multas-e-prisao/ e aqui: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technology/2009/04/pirate_bay_beached_but_not_sun.html. O resultado era o esperado: os donos do site foram condenados à prisão por apoiar e incentivar conduta de pirataria. Conforme já havia sido discutido aqui mesmo na lista, o site foi intocado (pois não tem nenhum conteúdo lá), ele continua de pé e deve continuar ainda por um bom tempo. Vc ou vcs saberiam me dizer como eu faco para instalar esse drive proprietário através do pendrive durante a instalação pois o kernel do CD não reconhece o drive de rede? [Ubuntu-BR] Not Philco Modelo PHN1 4003 Linux Fenix
Olá galera da lista, A sobrinha da minha esposa compro um not philco e veio com o fenix, estou tentando tirar ele para colocar o Ubuntu, tenho o cd da distro 8.04, so que ao dar o boot ele vai até a parte da solicitação do idioma e apos esse processo ele trava na barra não mostrando mais nada, alguem aqui já colocou o Ubuntu em um desses not philco? Sera melhor eu baixar a 8.10 e colocar ela? OBS.: O cd que estou utilizando é o que solicitei lá do pessoal do Ubuntu. Algumas vezes tem ocorrido comigo que encerrando o partição do windows abrutamente (desligar direto na tomada, queda de energia etc...) não consigo montar a partição no Linux/Ubuntu. Vou ao windows (inicio o finalizo de maneira certa) e voltanto a Linux/Ubuntu tudo volta ao normal. Uso XP Profissional na partição. Veja se pode ser isto. Sales, é bom corrigir o erro porque se eu não estou enganado ele também interfere com relação a hibernar o computador. Mantenha o quiet. [Ubuntu-BR] Retardo na exibição da janela de s aida do sistema.
Pessoal, Nestes 3 últimos dias notei um comportamento estranho, a janela para desligamento do sistema tem demorado bastante a ser exibida, o sistema parece travado aguardando-a. O display dela mudou em alguma atualização que fiz esta semana, mas não me recordo em qual pois foram 3 ou 4 neste período. Bem, a versão é a 8.04 e o último aplicativo que fecho habitualmente é o Evolution. Pensei que talvez este pudesse estar executando alguma tarefa pós-fechamento, mas isto não ocorria anteriormente.
