UPDATED Xen 4.0.1-rc2 … source kernels packaged for Ubuntu http://virtualusr.wordpress.com/2010/06/17/xen-4-0-1-rc2-source-kernels-packaged-for-ubuntu/ * Updated 2010-06-30 - Added the very important missing xen-4.0-0ubuntu1.diff.gz for all versions. This was a big mistake making this post unusable since the 21st of Jun, SORRY. - One line was missing in packageXen40x.sh to update xen repository every time it is run without version argument. Previous version could not automatically pick up 4.0.1-rc3, this can and does the build without error. - Bruce Edge reminded me to retry standard ubuntus “make-kpkg kernel-image” which was broken when I started. Now it seems to be working again. I added a script for really Ubuntu-way of packaging kpkgXenKernel.sh. It’s practically the same as the older remakeXenKernel.sh except the “make-kpkg (Ubuntu) vs deb-pkg (Linux Kernel source)”. [Bug 555210] Re: Please assign global scope to RFC 1918 addresses in getaddrinfo()
I agree with Gro-Tsen. I have better IPv6 connectivity than IPv4, and while IPv6 is preferred for most connections, if they are hosted on a 6to4 (2002::/16) host, then IPv4 is used. Some applications can force IPv6 (i.e. ssh -6, or telnet -6), but others cannot (i.e. Firefox or Chromium). Strange thing is that even though I'm *not* on a 6to4 connection, and even if the *destination* host has 6to4, then IPv4 is preferred. That logic doesn't sound right to me. If *I* had a 6to4 connection as the source IP, then maybe preferring IPv4 to 6to4 would make sense, but not for the destination. -- Please assign global scope to RFC 1918 addresses in getaddrinfo() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I eventually solved this by switching the printer to a wired connection rather than wireless. Prints fine now. Switching back to wireless causes the same issue again. Wired and wireless printer connections both work in 32-bit Lucid. By wired connection I mean a wired connection to my router not to the computer itself. I still connect my computer wirelessly to my router. -- [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434564 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 600112] [NEW] firefox freezes on load
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox On starting up Firefox in the morning, with say 15-20 tabs in the session, sometimes - more frequently lately - the package freezes, the loading symbols freeze on each tab, and nothing further occurs unless firefox is closed and restarted. This morning it took 4 goes to get it working. This has only started happening in the last couple of versions. Previously I was able to load up to 50 tabs without problems (when tabkit still worked). [Bug 599889] Re: the search entry text should be cleared when the entry is selected
unduplicating the bug as discussed on IRC, the issue there is not that what is typed is preserved but that the initial Search label in the entry indicating the function of the widget is kept when the user select the entry which leads to doubt about what to do, ie should the text there be deleted? [Bug 600115] [NEW] Inactive touchpad randomly on HP Pavillon dv6800
Public bug reported: - By turning on the computer, the touchpad is recognized, it runs on the login screen. Very rarely (in an apparently random), the touchpad does not work once logged into the account of the user A (can not move the cursor or click). If we return to the login screen or we log on to the account of user B, the touchpad works again, but still does not work in the user's session A. - A solution has been found to temporarily fix the bug: deactivate / reactivate the touchpad, click with a mouse on the gnome-menu (Application, Shortcuts, System): the menu highlights as if it was selected but not is opened. Now we log on to the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F1) then we return to the graphical session (Ctrl + Alt + F7) and the touchpad works. - Each time the touchpad was recognized by xinput. - This bug has appeared on two HP Pavilion dv6800 with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (never had this bug in previous versions of Ubuntu). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: touchpad -- Inactive touchpad randomly on HP Pavillon dv6800 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

TBH, it would be handy if ZIM would at least identify the duff files en masse. On version 0.43, all that happens is the file does not open and then you have to restart ZIM because no other file will open either - except oddly, in a new window! That is really tedious. I did the upstream testing with kernel 2.6.35-999-generic but there was no noticable difference to the bahaviour than with kernel 2.6.32-22-generic. What *seems* to help is setting the MTU of the wlan- device to 1492 instead of Ubuntu's default 1500 (sudo ifconfig wlan0 mtu 1492). [Bug 555210] Re: Please assign global scope to RFC 1918 addresses in getaddrinfo()
Jeremy, RFC 3484 specifies the following priorities («IPv6» here implies non- 6to4) - it does not matter which is the source and which is the destination: 1) IPv6 - IPv6 2) 6to4 - 6to4 3) IPv4 - IPv4 4) 6to4 - IPv6 These haven't changed. However, if you want #4 to be sorted above #3, you can easily accomplish that by disabling the special casing of 2002::/16 by adding the following lines to gai.conf: label ::1/128 0 label ::/0 1 #label 2002::/16 2 label ::/96 3 label :::0:0/96 4 label fec0::/10 5 label fc00::/7 6 label 2001:0::/32 7 precedence ::1/128 50 precedence ::/0 40 #precedence 2002::/16 30 precedence ::/96 20 precedence :::0:0/96 10 If you also want Teredo-based connectivity to be preferred above IPv4, comment out the line with 2001:0::/32 as well. [Bug 524860] Re: starts eating cpu when trying to unlock screen
I can confirm that the problem occur when two instances of gnome- screensaver are launched by the system. For my part, the fact that 2 gnome-screensaver instances are launch at startup is unknown and appears randomly. using a console : $ pstree -p | grep gnome-screen |-gnome-screensav()───{gnome-screensav}() |-gnome-screensav() $ kill -9 then do ALT+F7 to come back to your X session. As my system have only been upgraded Ubuntu release to another (for several years), may be there are corrupted config files that launched two instances of gnome-screensaver, that is at the origin of the conflict and cpu outage ... [Bug 434564] Re: [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv!
Note to everyone posting here, the '[cups-driverd] Bad driver information file /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv' does not prevent printers from working or CUPS from executing jobs. It only tells that CUPS is not able to generate PPD files from the /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv and this is only relevant for creating a new print queue and there also for a small selection of printers. All printers mentioned here do not depend on /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv. Please create an error_log in debugging mode as described in the CUPS error_log section on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. Then you will see that the mentioned error does not occur during execution of your print job. Please create a new bug report for your problem. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434564 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
