The X synaptics module is used for all trackpads. Please test that your trackpad is behaving sanely. We are mostly looking for blocker bugs right now (random X server crashes, really obnoxious behavior, etc.). Please reply with any such bugs you find. Oops, I forgot to mention the packages are in ppa:canonical-x/x-staging. [ubuntu-in] Having problem with read only disks ? How to change it ?
Hello everyone, recently i had installed many tools on my ubuntu 11.10 like gparted , oracle 11g xe, other many more. but i'm facing problem like read only disks with other partition which have ntfs file system. i can't save my files on them or write any data to them. Have i changed any kernel parameters or any group policy accidently etc ?Can some body help me regarding isssue? How to fix it? Thanks in advance. Si le pilote a été testé et fonctionne sous Ubuntu ou Kubuntu ou Xubuntu 12.04, pourquoi je devrais m'imaginer ou croire que le pilote va continuer de fonctionner quand je vais passer à 12.10? ou à 13.04? Qu'est-ce qui m'assure que le pilote de l'imprimante va encore fonctionner quand la version du kernel va changer? Pourquoi je devrais croire qu'une compagnie qui produit une imprimante va continuer à supporter cette imprimante pour plus de 2 ans? ou pour plus de 3 ans? Est-ce qu'il y a quelqu'un dans la liste qui a déjà une imprimante HP qu'il a acheté il y a de cela plus de 3 ans? Ce n'est pas supporté sur la plupart des types de VPN. Pour faire à peu près la même chose, tu peux scripter cela dans /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d. Par exemple: (un fichier hypothétique: 02-connection-vpn-auto ) case $2 in up) if [ $CONNECTION_ID = Ubuntu ]; then nmcli con up id VPN fi ;; esac Aussi possible en se servant des UUID de connection. Bonjour Gérard! j'ai plusieurs vielles imprimantes qui fonctionnent bien en 12.04 et qui datent depuis l'époque des dinosaures! soit: HP Deskjet 500 HP Deskjet 600 HP Deskjet 692c Hp Officejet MF (pas le numéro en tête) Epson Stylus Color IIs Brother MFC 290c Brother MFC 490CW Pour ce qui est de HP, c'est des plus surprenant, avec HPLip ça marche du premier coup autant en USB qu'en parallèle. Pour la Epson c'est dans cups (tout comme les HP d'ailleurs). je fais beaucoup plus confiance que cela continue de fonctionner dans Linux que d'autres système proprio... et ce pour quoi que ce soit, le problème est surtout à savoir si c'est déjà fonctionnel, mais lorsque ça l'est ça y reste. bonne journée! Le plus complex est de trouver une carte qui a deux HDMI. En général, on n'enlève pas le support de matériel d'une version à l'autre, hormis les cas où le support d'un tel système serait très complexe par rapport au nombre d'utilisateurs d'un tel matériel. Qu'est-ce qui m'assure que le pilote de l'imprimante va encore fonctionner quand la version du kernel va changer? En vérité, rien. Mais si le pilote est libre, il y a de fortes chances que ca continuera à fonctionner dans les version plus récentes. Fortes chances, parce que des bogues ca arrive en ajoutant de nouvelles fonctionalités. Pourquoi je devrais croire qu'une compagnie qui produit une imprimante va continuer à supporter cette imprimante pour plus de 2 ans? ou pour plus de 3 ans? Pourquoi être si négatif? Si ton imprimante utilise un pilote libre, tout devrait continuer à fonctionner. S'il s'agit d'un pilote propriétaire (scanneurs Brother, ainsi que de nombreux autres matériels qui m'échappent), difficile à dire. Est-ce qu'il y a quelqu'un dans la liste qui a déjà une imprimante HP qu'il a acheté il y a de cela plus de 3 ans? Si, j'en ai encore une qui date de plus de 3 ans. À ma mémoire, elle fonctionne très bien (bien que je l'aie remplacée il y a deux mois par un nouveau modèle). En passant, je crois qu'elle traine encore chez moi, j'aimerais bien m'en débarrasser s'il y a des preneurs. Imprimante HP ou Canon (je vérifierai) très ordinaire, avec scanneur sur le dessus... ubuntu 11.10 orca and speakup do not work together
Hi all Subject says it all, I find that I cannot get orca and speakup to run at the same time on my installation of ubuntu 11.10. It's either one or the other, but never both at the same time. I can tell that both of them are running. For example now, I can hear speakup. I can confirm that orca is running because I see the start up splash thing when orca executes, I just don't hear anything. It seems like part of my problem has to do with running pulseaudio in system mode. I downloaded the pulsesystem and pulseuser scripts, made by the vinux team, and executed the pulsesystem script in /etc/local/bin after changing its permissions to 755. I restarted the machine, and same result, orca mute, speakup running. It seems that I am getting this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/886700 when I try to execute espeak hello in the gnome-terminal, which suggests that my problem might have something to do with alsa. Still playing... Aside from the missing link things look pretty good. - cdrdao is missing - a2jmidid is not missing - Good - The newer envy24control - mudita24 would be nice. - Nautilus and thunar do funny things ;-) - icon to get a file manager gets set to nautilus ok - nautilus access sftp ok - but the desktop stuff still opens thunar - ARandR is there - Good (seems to work but I have yet to test it with two monitors) - gedit is nice. - xchat isn't set to #ubuntustudio yet. - There is no bookmark for the webpage in firefox either. - The themes are ok by me, but I don't see any changes from the last time I tested... And I thought that was where there were changes. Oh hang on some of the menu icons are different. Localizing Ubuntu Documentation images
Hi all, In a conversation with other translators yesterday, the subject of localized images in Ubuntu Docs came up. We were wondering how to make it easier for everyone to be able to provide images in their language, other than starting to submit branch proposals to the Ubuntu docs bzr branch (not everyone is familiar with bzr). One idea that came up was to set up an Ubuntu One share with the content of the upstream branch's ubuntu-help folder, i.e: ast/figures az/figures bs/figures C/figures Once the documentation string freeze is over, we could open the share and translators should only need to: - fetch the source images from C/figures - create their localized images - copy then to their locale/figures folder Then once the NonLanguagePackTranslationDealine is reached, we could submit a merge proposal against the upstream ubuntu-docs branch with the contents of the share. I believe this would make it easy for translators to provide the localized images (just copy images to a folder instead of dealing with Bazaar) and easy for members of the docs team to include them (just need to accept a single merge proposal). If you all think it could be a good idea, I'd be happy to set up the share and organize all the rest. Let me know what you think. You should have now received an e-mail to accept the share. You should now be able to upload files, either from the desktop or from the web. As per the Ubuntu One issue on your Lucid desktop, you can try asking on IRC on the #ubuntuone channel. The guys there are usually quite helpful with all the issues. It would be a shame to get a bunch of localization done and then need to pick and choose due to space limitations. So, as well as localized images, the slideshow needs to get those images from somewhere on the Internet. I could possibly get away with using my people.ubuntu.com, but I think the ideal would be a collection of files near ubuntu.com itself. At any rate, the web people (or the people with the keys) will need to be involved somewhere. I'll be on irc this weekend (and Friday) so maybe we can chat about it then. As far as I know, the ISOs for Precise are already oversized so they do not fit on a standard CD anyway! That's why I don't see so much a problem with storing localized images on it. Oi Usiel Sena, eu sempre prefiro instalar pacotes .deb dando clique duplo nele, assim ele abre a Central de Programas e instala normalmente mesmo sendo arquivo local. eu também... mas lembre-se que este é justamente o meu problema!! a central de programas do ubuntu não está entrando! oi marcos ... é mais fácil instalar todo o 11.10 na mesma ou em outra partição... não entendi!! pode explicar oque quiz dizer? Sena, com tantos problemas que estás encontrando na versão Ubuntu 11.10, eu (que não sou técnico e não trabalho na área de informática) preferiria reinstalar todo, do zero, fazer uma nova instalação limpa. Faria isso na mesma partição em que já tens a distro montada e/ou em outra partição, pois já reinstalei na mesma partição uma vez e deu o mesmo erro pois a partição é que estava com problemas. Quando tenho problemas semelhantes ao que tens com a Central de Programas, geralmente faço uma reinstalação limpa, pois acho mais fácil do que ficar remendando e encontrar novos problemas no futuro... Faria isso na mesma partição em que já tens a distro montada e/ou em outra partição, pois já reinstalei na mesma partição uma vez e deu o mesmo erro pois a partição é que estava com problemas. Quando tenho problemas semelhantes ao que tens com a Central de Programas, geralmente faço uma reinstalação limpa, pois acho mais fácil do que ficar remendando e encontrar novos problemas no futuro... Olha, quando por aqui usavamos o Thunderbird (atualmente só usamos o o gmail) havia problemas com performance em alguns departamentos onde a caixa principal era enorme. Eu não tinha problemas porque sempre as catalogava em pastas por assuntos então embora o tamanho geral fosse grande, cada mbox tinha no maximo 500mb, mas os usuários dummy deixavam tudo na caixa principal e depois xingavam a lentidão. Se o TB armazenasse as mensagens no formato maildir talvez fosse mais rápido, mas abrir mais do que 2GB de arquivo num windows é consumir muitos recursos, tenta abrir um .txt com 2GB e veja o sofrimento, embora o TB abra o arquivo de forma diferente ainda assim é um flatdatabase. Acho que separar por tags não funciona porque o arquivo no formato mbox do thunderbird continuará a crescer indiscriminadamente, quanto maior, pior. Usando varias contas ainda piora porque o TB abre conexões em background e deixam o foreground lento quando se clica nas mensagens que vem por imap. Além disso, há alguma coisa no Gmail que parece deixar as contas acessadas via Imap mais lentas ou restritas, eu notei que quando varias pessoas baixam suas mensagens via imap algumas delas ficam em estado de espera até que outra termine ou por timeout, dava muito timeout no TB+gmail, mais do que o ISP anterior. Assim migramos toda a empresa para o gmail e a maioria usa via navegador e não há reclamações, em vários aspectos é melhor, como o uso das tags e filtros com aplicação de tags+arquivamento. Noutros é pior como o caso dum usuário que queria eliminar as mensagens mais antigas e o gmail não tem recurso para isso na janela de busca. TB agora só mesmo para fazer backup de certas contas no gmail. []'s e boa sorte. Opinião pessoal: Eu nunca achei seguro manter muitas mensagens de e-mail no servidor de e-mail; sempre gravo as msg mais importantes como arquivo (.eml), organizadas por pastas, que são abertas por qualquer gerenciador de e-mail. Bom, eu discordo quanto a comparação entre abrir um mailbox e abrir um arquivo txt de 2GB. Lembre-se que um database nada mais é do que um conjunto de vários arquivões e nem por isso há degradação de performance quando um bom conjunto de indices estão em uso. Deve-se lembrar ainda que com o maildir você reduz o tamanho dos arquivos, mas o número de fileopen/fileclose aumenta então há degradação também e novamente tudo dependerá dos índices para otimizar as consultas (isso é o que falta no thunderbird e em outros gerenciadores de email). No meu caso o bicho é usado para arquivo mesmo então tenho pastas organizadas por anos. Mensagens de 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 etc. Estas pastas com cerca de 100MB a 200MB não deveria ser um entrave para o aplicativo, mas estão sendo. Processos em background não deveriam ser problemas, afinal de contas a máquina em questão é um quadcore e já constatei que o maldito abre vários processos do TB e que são alternados entre os vários núcleos. O problema parece ser memória. Pois é rápido vê-lo consumindo todos os meus miseráveis 2GB de RAM e apelando para o swap. Francamente, estamos muito mal no quesito software para gerenciamento de e-mails. Usando varias contas ainda piora porque o TB abre conexões em background e deixam o foreground lento quando se clica nas mensagens que vem por imap. Além disso, há alguma coisa no Gmail que parece deixar as contas acessadas via Imap mais lentas ou restritas, eu notei que quando varias pessoas baixam suas mensagens via imap algumas delas ficam em estado de espera até que outra termine ou por timeout, dava muito timeout no TB+gmail, mais do que o ISP anterior. Assim migramos toda a empresa para o gmail e a maioria usa via navegador e não há reclamações, em vários aspectos é melhor, como o uso das tags e filtros com aplicação de tags+arquivamento. Noutros é pior como o caso dum usuário que queria eliminar as mensagens mais antigas e o gmail não tem recurso para isso na janela de busca. I checked this out and all versions of the tomcat6 package in natty (and all other releases) create relative paths for these links as part of the package build process.
