[Bug 1059230] [NEW] Cannot change the Initiate Window Move in Move Window Plugin
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 12.10, you cannot change or disable the Initiate Window Move by mouse in the Move Window plugin. I usually change it from ALT to Super. The reasoning, is it removes functionality from tools I use that require dragging or selecting with the mouse while holding ALT. Example: Blender 2.6x What should happen: 1. Open CCSM 2. Go to Move Window plugin 3. Change the keybindings from ALT to Super, or disable completely 4. Profit What happens: 1. Open CCSM 2. Go to Move Window plugin 3. Change the keybindings from ALT to Super 4. No effect. Easiest way to test, is go back, and return to the plugin. The keybinding gets reverted to ALT. [Bug 996343] Re: Game performance is choppier with compiz enabled (not unity)
This bug should have a high priority. With Valve wanting to put their chips into Ubuntu, Unity out of the box needs to be able to keep up with the others. Looking at these benchmarks: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=articleitem=ubuntu_1210beta_desktopsnum=1 This IS NOT the case. When running fullscreen opengl applications, there needs to be a way to disable desktop effects or something that will get the framerate to where it should be. Otherwise I could definitely see new users thinking, I'll give Linux a try. use Ubuntu, have a terrible gaming experience (Due to low frames) and either go back to Windows, or buy an Apple PC. I know I sound a bit crazy, but Linux's big chance is coming up, and we have to be ready if we want this to take off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996343 Title: Game performance is choppier with compiz enabled (not unity) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/996343/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1045528] Re: Not able to SHIFT click when renaming a file.
I would, but since 12.10 is using an older version of nautilus, I'm guessing the chance of the fix being applied to 12.10 is pretty slim unless you backport it. Also, I'm hoping that Ubuntu move onto another file manager that doesn't theaten to remove features every release. The gnome team has some warped vision that I don't agree with anymore. [Bug 458445] Re: libcupsys2 not in Karmic, Canon driver depends on it
My reason for reopening this, is because there are new users coming from other OS's such as Windows and when they download the drivers for their printer, and try installing, it will fail on them. It creates a broken package and they have to go online and search for a fix, which if they don't know what they're doing they may not be able to find a solution. I can imagine many new people would ask where the menu bar is. In addition, the text beside icons is a waste of space, and I for one keep a lot of files in my home directory, not to mention that in Netbook Remix screen space is a major factor. I do not like the idea of a background in the file window either, it would be distracting, IMO, competing for attention from the desktop. The only thing I actually agree with is the zoom bar placement, but that is because it is in my past Nautilus mockup which has already been partially implemented. Overall, though, this doesn't seem to improve usability much, and change for the sake of change is bad. [Bug 563362] [NEW] New video color seems inconsistent
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: humanity-icon-theme The film in the video folder icon is now purple. It seems inconsistent with the media category icon which is dark orange as well as the video icon which is orange. Even if only the media category icon was changed to purple, it would make the icons seem more consistent than they are. Attached is what the icons would look like purple. [Bug 546464] Re: banshee should have status icons in the panel
I see what you mean about color, but I think a minimalistic icon is more important than a monochrome icon. For me, I keep banshee running 24/7 and play music about 25% of the time I'm on my computer. For the rest of that time, it would be nice if all of the colors in the panel were uniform (monochrome). Sadly they changed the messaging indicator to be faded, then the uniform color when you get a message instead of it turning green (wish it would be changed back). So if banshee is the standard grey color when it is idle, what would it look like when it is playing? If it is faded, it doesn't make sense, I wouldn't add more geometry into such a small icon, so I figured blue might be appropriate. But that is just my opinion and is ultimately the choice of the artists. -- banshee should have status icons in the panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/546464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 546999] [NEW] message indicator is not noticeable enough
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-mono I'm using ubuntu-mono 0.0.10. The way it is, the icon is greyed out and when you get a new message it turns the same color as the rest of the panel icons. There is a red icon, but I'm going to assume this is for urgent/important emails. While working, it is hard to notice the messaging icon because it is the same color as the rest. I think it should go back to how it was before, and have the icon the same color as the rest, switch to green on new messages, and red on important messages. I do not think color would be an issue since it should only be color for a very small percentage of computer usage. It also would help to bring your attention to it if you receive a message while you are away. In my opinion, it is more important to keep minimalistic icons, then to have no color. At first I was very sceptical about having them on the right but I decided to give it a shot. After using the buttons on the left for a few hours, it feels very natural since I am usually focused on the left hand side of the screen to begin with, so it makes sense why the side was changed. I am currently using maximize, minimize, close:menu and I have to say that I really appreciate this change. I like this version very much. It looks great except for the progress bars. I'm not a fan of the black stripes. Now the progressbar looks different but I'm still not totaly happy with it so I'll redesign it more (attached current). [Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5
Shouldn't nvidia-glx-190 be added since it is the latest stable? Plus by then there will most likely be a newer stable release anyways. The 190 drivers from the nvidia-vdpau ppa have not been updated yet for xorg 7.5. There are 195 drivers (beta) that don't conflict, but they do not show up in Hardware Drivers for activation. -- [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494166 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I do agree with going with the 195 drivers for lucid. Harry, just wondering how you got the 190 drivers from the nvidia ppa to work. For me, they are still conflicting with xorg and ubuntu-desktop. -- [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494166 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
