[Bug 1628014] Re: WebExtension fails to install only on ubuntu packaged firefox

2016-09-28 Thread Nate Wiebe
I get the same issue with an unlisted WebExtension. Works fine on
Windows, or downloading Firefox from their site. It's only affecting
Firefox installed from the repos.

You guys do realized, the fix has been comitted, but not released right?

You have to build compiz yourself at this point for you to have the fix,
or wait until the new version is released. The bug status will change to
Fix Released when it is released.

[Bug 1059230] [NEW] Cannot change the Initiate Window Move in Move Window Plugin

2012-09-30 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 12.10, you cannot change or disable the Initiate Window Move
by mouse in the Move Window plugin. I usually change it from ALT to
Super. The reasoning, is it removes functionality from tools I use that
require dragging or selecting with the mouse while holding ALT. Example:
Blender 2.6x

What should happen:

1. Open CCSM
2. Go to Move Window plugin
3. Change the keybindings from ALT to Super, or disable completely
4. Profit

What happens:

1. Open CCSM
2. Go to Move Window plugin
3. Change the keybindings from ALT to Super
4. No effect. Easiest way to test, is go back, and return to the plugin. The
keybinding gets reverted to ALT.

[Bug 1051371] [NEW] Can't play files with apostrophe in file name

2012-09-15 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 12.10 with all updates. Running totem 3.4.3.

Tried playing a song from the Black Mesa Source soundtrack titled We've Got
Hostiles.
It shows up in totem as three tracks:
- We've
- Got
- Hostiles.mp3

The files cannot be played simply because it thinks it's looking for:

- /home/nate/Desktop/BMS - Soundtrack/We've
- /home/nate/Desktop/BMS - Soundtrack/Got
- /home/nate/Desktop/BMS - Soundtrack/Hostiles.mp3

After some testing, it's due to the apostrophe. I don't remember this
being an issue in 12.04.

[Bug 996343] Re: Game performance is choppier with compiz enabled (not unity)

2012-09-07 Thread Nate Wiebe
This bug should have a high priority. With Valve wanting to put their
chips into Ubuntu, Unity out of the box needs to be able to keep up with
the others. Looking at these benchmarks:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=articleitem=ubuntu_1210beta_desktopsnum=1

This IS NOT the case. When running fullscreen opengl applications, there
needs to be a way to disable desktop effects or something that will get
the framerate to where it should be. Otherwise I could definitely see
new users thinking, I'll give Linux a try. use Ubuntu, have a terrible
gaming experience (Due to low frames) and either go back to Windows, or
buy an Apple PC.

I know I sound a bit crazy, but Linux's big chance is coming up, and we
have to be ready if we want this to take off.

[Bug 1045528] Re: Not able to SHIFT click when renaming a file.

2012-09-05 Thread Nate Wiebe
I would, but since 12.10 is using an older version of nautilus, I'm
guessing the chance of the fix being applied to 12.10 is pretty slim
unless you backport it. Also, I'm hoping that Ubuntu move onto another
file manager that doesn't theaten to remove features every release. The
gnome team has some warped vision that I don't agree with anymore. I'd
prefer using Marlin over Nautilus any day.

I'm thinking this fix wouldn't require too much effort. I may even
attempt a patch myself if I get the time.

[Bug 1045885] [NEW] Titlebar font is not Ubuntu in 12.10

2012-09-04 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

The font used for the titlebar in 12.10 is not 'Ubuntu', like it is in
12.04.

Every font shown in the panel is 'Ubuntu' Except for the window title.

I can provide screenshots if needed.

[Bug 1045528] [NEW] Not able to SHIFT click when renaming a file.

2012-09-03 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

If you press CTRL + L to bring up the address field, left click in one
spot, then hold SHIFT and left click in another spot. It will highlight
the text between the two selections.

You are unable to do this when renaming a file. It makes highlighting
large portions of a name very tedious and should be fixed.

Running Ubuntu 12.10 and also on 12.04 both with the latest version from
the repos.

[Bug 973096] [NEW] Nvidia driver causes xorg crash

2012-04-03 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

When using 12.04, X will crash and send me to the login screen. This can
happen when working, or when the computer is idle.

I'm using version 295.33. I remember getting the same crash occuring on
11.10 when I upgraded to version 295.20 [version before 295.33], but
this may or may not be the same bug.

Confirming using the x-swat ppa. Should be version 285.05.09. I have
great performance, except when dragging windows around, there is around
1 second of delay for the window to move.

[Bug 689568] Re: Icon from light set in dark set when copying files

2011-03-10 Thread Nate Wiebe
I can confirm this. I have attached another screenshot.

** Changed in: ubuntu-mono (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Icon from light set in dark set when copying files
+ Humanity icon used when copying files

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: ubuntu-mono

- In the default Ubuntu Ambiance theme with Ubuntu Mono Dark icons, when
- copying files, there's an icon in notification area. This icon is darker
- than others and I suppose it comes from Ubuntu Mono Light.
+ When copying files, there is no ubuntu-mono icon present for the
+ indicator. It is using the icon from the Humanity icon theme.
+
+ The icon is out of place and needs to be created.

[Bug 458445] Re: libcupsys2 not in Karmic, Canon driver depends on it

2010-06-29 Thread Nate Wiebe
This problem still exists in Lucid. Is it possible for the libcupsys2
transitional package to be included in the repositories? There are also
other printer drivers that rely on libcupsys2. Including the
transitional package shouldn't be too much to ask for. This one
(http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/cups/libcupsys2_1.3.9-17ubuntu3.9_all.deb)
was just updated this June. So shouldn't it show up in the repos?

[Bug 458445] Re: libcupsys2 not in Karmic, Canon driver depends on it

2010-06-29 Thread Nate Wiebe
My reason for reopening this, is because there are new users coming from
other OS's such as Windows and when they download the drivers for their
printer, and try installing, it will fail on them. It creates a broken
package and they have to go online and search for a fix, which if they
don't know what they're doing they may not be able to find a solution.
So if the transitional package gets included in the repos, it will fix
this bug and they will not have any issues.

That actually looks like it would be more confusing, not less. I can
imagine many new people would ask where the menu bar is. In addition,
the text beside icons is a waste of space, and I for one keep a lot of
files in my home directory, not to mention that in Netbook Remix
screen space is a major factor. I do not like the idea of a background
in the file window either, it would be distracting, IMO, competing for
attention from the desktop. The only thing I actually agree with is
the zoom bar placement, but that is because it is in my past Nautilus
mockup which has already been partially implemented. Overall, though,
this doesn't seem to improve usability much, and change for the sake
 of change is bad.

[Bug 563362] [NEW] New video color seems inconsistent

2010-04-14 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: humanity-icon-theme

The film in the video folder icon is now purple. It seems inconsistent
with the media category icon which is dark orange as well as the video
icon which is orange. Even if only the media category icon was changed
to purple, it would make the icons seem more consistent than they are.

Attached is what the icons would look like purple.

The other option is to change the film in the folder icon to orange, but
then it doesn't stand out from the actual folder.

[Bug 546464] Re: banshee should have status icons in the panel

2010-03-25 Thread Nate Wiebe
I see what you mean about color, but I think a minimalistic icon is more
important than a monochrome icon. For me, I keep banshee running 24/7
and play music about 25% of the time I'm on my computer. For the rest of
that time, it would be nice if all of the colors in the panel were
uniform (monochrome). Sadly they changed the messaging indicator to be
faded, then the uniform color when you get a message instead of it
turning green (wish it would be changed back). So if banshee is the
standard grey color when it is idle, what would it look like when it is
playing? If it is faded, it doesn't make sense, I wouldn't add more
geometry into such a small icon, so I figured blue might be appropriate.
But that is just my opinion and is ultimately the choice of the artists.

[Bug 546999] [NEW] message indicator is not noticeable enough

2010-03-25 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-mono

I'm using ubuntu-mono 0.0.10. The way it is, the icon is greyed out and
when you get a new message it turns the same color as the rest of the
panel icons. There is a red icon, but I'm going to assume this is for
urgent/important emails. While working, it is hard to notice the
messaging icon because it is the same color as the rest. I think it
should go back to how it was before, and have the icon the same color as
the rest, switch to green on new messages, and red on important
messages. I do not think color would be an issue since it should only be
color for a very small percentage of computer usage. It also would help
to bring your attention to it if you receive a message while you are
away. In my opinion, it is more important to keep minimalistic icons,
then to have no color. I feel that the current color is a usability
issue and should be resolved.

Re: [ubuntu-art] Metacity Button Order Changed

2010-03-05 Thread Nate Wiebe

At first I was very sceptical about having them on the right but I decided to
give it a shot. After using the buttons on the left for a few hours, it feels
very natural since I am usually focused on the left hand side of the screen to
begin with, so it makes sense why the side was changed.

I am currently using maximize, minimize, close:menu and I have to say that I
really appreciate this change.

As for other themes, I think it all depends on what the overall feel is to
determine which side they should be located on, but I think they should all be
able to adapt.

[Bug 506956] [NEW] new wave theme causes f-spot to crash on startup

2010-01-13 Thread Nate Wiebe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-themes-ubuntu

New Wave is a great theme, but it causes f-spot to crash. This still
happens in lucid.

Here is what is in terminal:

n...@nate-desktop:~$ f-spot
[Info 08:47:13.852] Initializing DBus
[Info 08:47:14.002] Initializing Mono.Addins
[Info 08:47:14.223] Starting new FSpot server (f-spot 0.6.1.5)
[Info 08:47:15.223] Starting BeagleService
[Info 08:47:15.247] Hack for gnome-settings-daemon engaged

(f-spot:3102): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: GdkPixbufLoader finalized without
calling gdk_pixbuf_loader_close() - this is not allowed. You must
explicitly end the data stream to the loader before dropping the last
reference.

Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'f-spot' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 3953 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
aborting...
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

** Affects: gnome-themes-ubuntu (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5

2009-12-15 Thread Nate Wiebe
Shouldn't nvidia-glx-190 be added since it is the latest stable? Plus by
then there will most likely be a newer stable release anyways. The 190
drivers from the nvidia-vdpau ppa have not been updated yet for xorg
7.5. There are 195 drivers (beta) that don't conflict, but they do not
show up in Hardware Drivers for activation.

2009-12-15 Thread Nate Wiebe
I do agree with going with the 195 drivers for lucid. Harry, just
wondering how you got the 190 drivers from the nvidia ppa to work. For
me, they are still conflicting with xorg and ubuntu-desktop.

Re: [ubuntu-art] Human Helix.

2009-12-02 Thread Nate Wiebe

could you attach the svg?
-Nate

Reread Akira, this thanksgiving. This is where that embed effect would be nice
(I think), but I still havent gotten anycloser to duplicating that in
Inkscape.Critique wanted. I am attaching a couple of renders. (sorry about the
size.)
