Welcome! If you want to meet some Ubuntu people and you want to speak English you can consider to go to fosdem: http://fosdem.org/2010/ That's a European meeting for free and open-source software developers, there also is an Ubuntu stand. They only speak English there. Specific ubuntu-be meeting (like release-party's) are most of the time in Dutch or French. Jan, Welcome in the Ubuntu-be community ! We allways need volunteers willing to be involved in all kind of Ubuntu promotion events. See the agenda on the website http://ubuntu-be.org/nl/calendar and the future events in the wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/FutureEvents . If you have the possibility, you could join the team organizing an Ubuntu-be booth in Antwerp Expo (Dipro Computer Fair) on 13/09 and/or 29/11/2009. For details, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Antwerpen_2009-09-13 . hi, sorry for the dutch, i wasn't paying attention. for everyone, here's the same in english: Hi, I am since a week subscribed to this mailnglist. I've got some experience in linux, desktop and server. At this time I'm running 2 pc's on Ubuntu 7.04, of which one sometimes serves as slave in a cluster (clusterKnoppix) with a third pc as cluster-master. Since clusterKnoppix doesn't quite suit my needs, I'm looking into openMosix to make a cluster running on ubuntu. Hi All, I just signed up at this mailing list, and I was asked to introduce myself in a new mail to this mailinglist, so here goes: Well, I'm a 24 (almost 25) year old guy, from Peer (Limburg). I graduated last year as master of elektronics with the option ICT from the KHLim. I've been using ubuntu for a year or 2-3 now, and have been thinking for a long time to join the community. I waited until now, just because I didn't had a lot of time before. And I also found this belgian community just today. I'm was at FOSDEM, and got into a talk with one of the crew of the hardy release party and thats how I found out about this community. Well, what's more to say about me? I don't realy know, I you want to know something more, just ask. Welcome! HP/UX is much alike linux in some ways (e.g. both are more or less POSIX compliant), so some of your experience should be useful on Ubuntu too. Also, your experience with _commercial_ UNIXes and commercial UNIX clients seems useful to me. Hi all, I recently subscribed to the ubuntu-be mailing list and requested to join the Belgian Ubuntu team. I'm currently working at HP in the UNIX outsourcing department, so I don't have much experience with linux (only HP/UX), nor with the development of applications. However, I'm interested to join the Belgian team because I like the mission of the Ubuntu community very much, and maybe I can be of any help in areas where technical experience is not really a prerequisite (e.g. translation of documentation).
