[Bug 255741] [NEW] network-manager-vpnc does not work with NM 0.7

2008-08-07 Thread Paul Ferraro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

Now that network-manager was upgraded to 0.7, the vpnc plugin no longer
functions.
I cannot create a vpn profile, nor are my existing vpn profiles (created under
NM 0.6) functional.
These packages (and their *-gnome pairs) probably need to be rebuilt for NM 0.7.
I would expect that network-manager-openvpn is also affected.

[Bug 245337] Re: \cdot and \times appear the same in equations

2008-08-07 Thread Dara Adib
LyX does recommend latex-xft-fonts, which should cause it to be
automatically installed when LyX is installed. I think there is no
reason for LyX to depend on latex-xft-fonts.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: lyx

  When editing equations, the \cdot and \times symbols look the same. Both
look like a x. I tried changing the screen font but they still look the same.
I am using Lyx 1.5.3-1 on Hardy.
  Lyx 1.5.3 on Windows does not have this problem. \cdot looks like a dot and
\times looks like a x.

  I also checked with Lyx 1.5.5 on Fedora 9. The problem does not appear
  there.

[Bug 223783] Re: SoX was compiled without MP3 encoding support

I can't distribute sox binaries with mp3 encoding support compiled in at

One of SoX developpers posted a patch to support mp3 encoding via dlopen
awhile back but many changes occured in SoX since then. That patch needs
to be reworked and i don't currently have the time to do so.

If you're willing to help, please have a look at:

Hmm this is in Grub, not in Ubuntu..
My suggestion was that it should have commands to list devices files rather

Also documenting tab completion would be a good thing.

[Bug 195813] Re: python update failed with:'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

2008-08-07 Thread Endolith
Happened with these packages:

python-configobj (4.4.0-2)
python-dateutil (1.3-1)
python2.5-dev (2.5.2-2ubuntu4.1)
python-dev (2.5.2-0ubuntu1)
python-enthought-traits (2.0.5-1~hardy1)
python-matplotlib-data (0.91.2-0ubuntu1)
python-numpy (1:1.0.4-6ubuntu3)
python-tz (2007k-0ubuntu2)
python-matplotlib (0.91.2-0ubuntu1)

If I import site in Python it works fine, but dpkg-reconfigure for
these packages does not work. Does this mean they aren't configured
correctly?

[Bug 247729] Re: Wine should install (some) fonts system wide in a separate package

2008-08-07 Thread Denis Jacquerye
Two things could be wrong with that font

1. WineTahoma is a Bitstream Vera Sans derivative, it must have the same
license.

See the copyright notice in the ttf file:
Copyright (c) 2004 Larry Snyder, Based on Bitstream Vera Sans Copyright (c)
2003 by Bitstream, Inc. Font renamed in accordance with former's license.
Please do not contact Bitstream Inc. for any reason regaurding this font.

Yet the license is LGPL.

2. Some characters are poorly drawn, this could be really bad at some sizes but
turns out fine for Wine's usage.
The Bitstream Vera Sans glyphs have been modified to look narrower and thus
match Tahoma more. Some look really strange, as if only part of them add been
condensed: '5', '6', '9', 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'g', 'p'.

I'm not sure this offers much when compared with DejaVu Sans Condensed, except
for having some bitmapped sizes.
The license issue should be fixed, regardless of this bug report.

[Bug 255743] Re: Please merge cedet-1.0pre4(universe) from debian unstable

2008-08-07 Thread Bhavani Shankar
cedet (1:1.0pre4-3ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * New upstream release (LP: #255743)
  * debian/control:
- Remove dpatch Build-Depends.
- Add VCS-Browser and VCS-Git fields.
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.0
  * debian/copyright:
- Add copyright notices to silence lintian.
  * debian/*.emacsen-(install|remove):
- Use /usr/share/info rather than /usr/info.
  * debian/*-install.el:
- List explicit paths to add to the load path while compiling, and
  prohibit Debian's normal load files from starting. This should
  prevent problems like loading a new version of the semantic package
  without first loading the packages that it depends on. It should
  help to future-proof us against bug reports to this effect. It will
  also provide a slight speed boost during compilation, and prohibits
  3rd-party packages from messing up our build
  (Closes: #484667, #440893).
  * debian/patches:
- Manage this using git.
  * debian/rules:
- Remove use of dpatch in favor of a simple patch invocations.
- Add genpatches command for the maintainer to call to generate the
  contents of debian/patches.
- Fix lintian warning about binary-arch.
  * debian/semantic.emacsen-install:
- Don't compile semantic-example.el, since emacs-snapshot has issues
  with it.

What I find very strange is sometimes the system will pause for around 5
minutes then start to work. I have changed the nfsroot options to
include the nolock options which I read could help reduce any long
pause. It has made little to no difference. I have attached a copy of
the boot log.

Regards,

James.

 1. Seems like this bug was reported a year back. Hence I would kindly
 request you to first check whether it is reproducible in Hardy.

I am now at 5.13 in Hardy, and don't recall having this bug since
the upgrade. However, I haven't been using wxmaxima much in recent
times, so that statement probably doesn't carry a lot of weight.

 2. Which Distribution were you using? Which version of wxmaxima?

Probably 5.09, but now not sure.

 3. Can you please elaborate on the sequence of operations (any one) that
 led you to this freeze.

Nope.  Long forgotten.

Why did it take so long to get around to asking me these questions?

[Bug 255734] [NEW] OO calc adds spurious columns to Office 2003 XML files

2008-08-07 Thread David Lee Lambert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I'm attaching an Office 2003 XML file created by the BIRT save as XLS
feature. When I open it in OpenOffice, extra blank columns show up
between the data-columns (that is, data is in columns B,D and F), and
most of the rows are two lines high because of wrapping. When I open it
in Excel 2003, the data-columns are B, C and D, and most of the rows are
one line high.

If I open the file in Excel and save it again, and then open that file
with OpenOffice, the column-spacing looks just like in Excel.

[Bug 255756] [NEW] Middleclicking tabs in FF3 pauses Rhythmbox irrecoverably

2008-08-07 Thread jeffemmert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Closing tabs in Firefox 3 using middle click also pauses songs in Rhythmbox,
for which there is no recovery other than closing and reopening Rhythmbox. This
happens especially when closing webpages displaying flash video files, whether
using middle click or clicking the (x) on the tab. After a tab-closing pause,
however, pressing play doesn't help. Rhythmbox remains Paused. If I close
tabs using the x on pages that do not contain flash, songs in Rhythmbox usually
remain playing.

[Bug 237584] Re: Blender OGRE exporter isn't recognized after installation

2008-08-07 Thread Red15
I've found the reason why the script was asking for the package
location,

Blender 2.45 has a new directory in /usr/share/blender/scripts called
bpymodules which is reserved for extra packages.

I hereby upload a .deb package which contains a fixed version,
installing this allowed me to open the export tools without any
problems.

I have named it blender-ogrexml_1.4.5-4.deb following what I though
would be the right procedure, unless we should just increase build
number.

  * Deleted 07_grab_pt.patch from debian/patches as it is now in Debian.

xmltv (0.5.52-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
- tv_grab_il and tv_grab_nl_wolf have been removed as they are not
  currently functional
- error reporting in tv_grab_uk_rt has been improved (closes: #472466)
  * Moved all the debian-specific changes to debian/patches instead of having
half of them in the .diff.gz
  * Downgraded libtext-kakasi-perl from a Recommends to a Suggests, now that
apt installs recommends by default.
  * Removed the -C option from the hashbang of tv_grab_jp and use binmode to
set utf8 mode on STDOUT (closes: #481816)
  * Added descriptions to the NAME section of the pod documentation (removes
lintian warning)
  * Upped Standards-Version to 3.8.0
- added debian/README.source file

[Bug 255011] Re: sru request for sun-java5

2008-08-07 Thread Martin Pitt
For the intrepid task, do we actually need to keep sun-java5, and thus
should update it here as well, or just drop the package entirely?

[Bug 178485] Re: Evince printing unprintable PDF marks

2008-08-07 Thread Eric Buist
The only workaround I found is to rebuild the PDF file in a way that
avoids the unprintable boxes, or use Adobe Reader to print the PDF. Any
open-source PDF reader I know about use Poppler which suffers from this
problem.
