[Bug 315950] Re: [needs-packaging] FoFiX (Frets on Fire X)
FWIW, as one of FoFiX's developer and Debian maintainer, i've been planning to package FoFiX for Debian/Ubuntu as soon as we tackle the performance issues with Python2.5+PyOpenGL3.x. There's been recent progress (last weekend) on the font rendering issues, hopefully we (FoFiX devs) will be able to move on soon. As always, any help is appreciated, head to our googlecode page (http://fofix.googlecode.com). Btw, in the meantime i continue to provide frozen binairies for the 32bit architecture* that use python2.4+PyOpenGL2.x . * I can provide 64bit binairies upon popular request. -- [needs-packaging] FoFiX (Frets on Fire X) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315950 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm seeing the same problem, and also have an empty /var/crash directory. Running hardy 8.04.2 x86_64, all packages up to date. This sounds like the same bug reported here for Fedora: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472439 as a bug in libexempi (and apparently resolved). Use the .exv sample data in that ticket's initial entry to reproduce. That is: 1) make a JPEG (I used Gimp to convert a PNG screenshot to JPEG) 2) install exiv2 3) use exiv2 to remove any metadata from the image from step 1 4) save the Fedora bugzilla sample bad .exv with the same basename as the JPEG made in step 1 5) use exiv2 to import the bugzilla sample metadata into the jpeg 6) in Nautilus, right-click on the image icon and request its properties. Or just try viewing the properties of the JPEG I'm attaching now (which uses the Fedora bugzilla sample metadata)... crashes Nautilus for me every time I request its properties (as do a number of my own pictures, taken with a Canon camera). ** Attachment added: sample JPEG that crashes Nautilus http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22713012/bluesky.jpeg -- [hardy] nautilus crash with Segmentation fault right clicking on Properties of an image file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192469 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

An update: I noticed, looking at my firewall log, that some packets to the nameserver were getting blocked by the firewall. [Bug 245946] Re: Intrepid Ibex - Lost sound after dist-upgrade
Me, too, on the death of sound. Tried many of the things in this thread, followed some of the links and tried lots of the things in those places, too. Already spent way too much time on this, so I'm giving up, but just feel obliged to note that it seems to be another example of Ubuntu not being ready for prime time. Even if it's a major upgrade, it should not cripple your system to this degree. I like Ubuntu and will continue to use it. [Bug 330347] [NEW] Full screen visualization should disable screen saver?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Since the fullscreen visualization in Rhythmbox is pretty much a screensaver in its own right, it seems that it would be appropriate for Rhythmbox to inhibit the screensaver starting while it is displaying a full screen visualization, and also possibly while it is in party mode. [Bug 179885] Re: Capital of Ecuador needs to be added to the Time Zone settings
Yes, América/Guayaquil is the right timezone for Quito and should be more than enough. I remember seeing Guayaquil and not Quito when installing GNU/Linux and having the feeling that Quito should be there, but I have to agree with Martin's comment regarding the size of a city and how known it is in the outside world. Guayaquil is by far the biggest city in the country, and although I love Quito and would like to see it in the map, I think we should keep a global view in this issue and just leave things as they are. Quito is the capital. Guayaquil is the biggest city, Galapagos need no introduction. One nation, 2 timezones, no need to have a third point of reference. Loic, again though that sounds to be a separate issue from this one, so should be handled as a separate bug report. If you don't see an exact match already in -intel feel free to open a new report, but we do have a pretty large quantity of performance-related bug reports to -intel (seems they're putting out a lot of changes to their code that maybe aren't sufficiently tested) so it may already be covered. One thing to check in particular is any differences between the Xorg.0.log's for both cases, to see if for instance DRI got turned off or something. [Bug 330300] Re: uqm recommends/suggests packages that don't exist
Thanks for double-checking. Based on your research, I've looked a bit more, and it appears they will be included in Ubuntu starting with the 9.04 release (and are already in the jaunty repositories, in multiverse). I'm afraid there's no solution for earlier releases, but with the remote repo having changed, this is indeed an issue, and it has been solved for future releases. There's also a bug in that the README file is wrong, but that's a minor issue, and ought not matter once the transition is complete (with the Lenny release and the upcoming Jaunty release). In the meantime, it should be safe to use the packages from Lenny. ** Changed in: uqm (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Fix Released -- uqm recommends/suggests packages that don't exist https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330300 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 316960] Re: SB0160 still not working after blacklisting snd_via82xx and snd_via82xx_modem.
I had a similar problem (no sound) with SB0160, which is now solved. The problem was not where I thought it was; not sure your problem is the same, but here it is: p...@groovy:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=intrepid DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 8.10 p...@groovy:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Audigy ]: Audigy - Audigy 1 ES [SB0160] Audigy 1 ES [SB0160] (rev.3, serial:0x521102) at 0xd200, irq 19 It's plugged on a gigabyte ga-ep45-ds5 motherboard, with intel ICH10 chipset integrated sound deactivated within bios setup (hence not seen in the previous command). The only thing that was missing for me was to unselect Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack, in the parameter tab of the gnome volume controller. I found the tip here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4301880#post4301880 I guess having both audio controllers (motherboard chipset and audigy) should not be a problem, as long as you have the one you choosed (audigy) as card0, as most applications will only talk to this card, as I've seen somewhere on a forum. I haven't tried it yet, but here are some descriptions about how to do it: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/MultipleCards Mainly, it's all about forcing card numbering in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base with the index= option. I just had something similar happen to me. One of the options for dealing with a modified 'menu.lst' file is to be dropped into a shell to examine the situation. I did that, then wasn't sure what I was supposed to do when I was done. So, I typed 'exit' at the shell prompt when I was done making a backup of my menu.lst file, which caused the error. Addendum to my previous comment - to be clear, it wasn't making the copy of menu.lst that caused the problem - it was exiting from the shell that I'd been dropped into that seemed to cause the problem. [Bug 217908] Re: Pixellated Images in Firefox/Opera due to incorrect EXTEND_PAD implementation in several video drivers
Sorry, the debdiff above is wrong again. This is the patch that I used for the PPA, which also enables EXTEND_REFLECT. -- Pixellated Images in Firefox/Opera due to incorrect EXTEND_PAD implementation in several video drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217908 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 330364] [NEW] inbox shows new mail but it is not visible in the folder
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird After downloading all the mail, Inbox shows the correct no of unread mail. But on opening the inbox folder, it shows 1(one) mail less than the indicated no. of mails. I can access the mail on opening my gmail account in a browser (firefox), but it continues to be invisible in thunderbird. [Bug 321472] Re: [Intrepid] Update kernel to Linux 2.6.27.12
It seems to be working normally now from a cold start. I'm not sure why the problem occurred in the first place. I will post a new bug report if it happens again. -- [Intrepid] Update kernel to Linux 2.6.27.12 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
I concur - this is not fixed. Problem still exists in Intrepid with: Driver: nvidia 177.82 Hardware: nvidia GeForce 8300 GS Like the previous post, I don't experience this problem on other nvidia hardware, namely a GeForce 8400 M and GeForce 8600 GT. Not sure if this is useful, but the following unrelated performance fix from http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115916 seems to temporarily alleviate the problem: nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2 -a GlyphCache=1 -- Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 328502] Re: Logitech MX3000 Keyboard Media Playback Hotkeys no longer work
Maybe this is a kernel regression or something then? On my laptop, button combinations for doing things like screen brightness up/down etc are also faulty. They 'work', but not as expected. (turning brightness up works until a point when it suddenly starts doing the reverse).
