[Bug 283095] Re: logout needs confirmation

2009-03-03 Thread Björn Torkelsson
Should it really be Log out in the dialog? Shouldn't it be something
like Force log out? You have already selected log out and hitting the
button will log you out directly without waiting 60 seconds.

[Bug 287030] Re: kontact crashed with SIGSEGV

2009-03-03 Thread mateuszbaranski
I use KDE 3.5.1
I installed kdepim-dbg.
What I did:
1) opened Kontact
2) switched to calendar
3) changed size of right main calendar pane - calendar view is divided into
three columns:
panel switching application, list of tasks and calendars and third main
calendar view
- I have just dragged the line dividing middle and right pane.

[Bug 336641] Re: Jaunty: Netbook-Remix can't shutdown from exit menu

2009-03-03 Thread davmor2
In UNR for hardy there is a list of option comparible with those from
the Fusa applet in Ubuntu. IE logout, restart, shutdown, switch user
etc

In Jaunty's shutdown menu you get logout and switch user. How do you
shutdown without clicking on the button.

If you logout it only takes you to the Login screen and unless you know
to look under options for shutdown there doesn't seem to be another way
to do it.

Pressing the button does shutdown but then you still can't restart,
hibernate or suspend.

[Bug 328442] Re: Tor 0.1.2.x abandoned by upstream, update to 0.2.0.34

Roger,

the primary problem here that nobody took the bug, there is no
assignee. As discussed back then, we'd need someone who actually uses
the packge, maintains it, and can test it.

So please don't stall the advisory further, since it's not at all clear
when this will get fixed in Ubuntu stables.

Thanks!

Once VMWare is fully loaded and you don't have to Ctrl-Alt anymore (can
minimize instead) the crashes disappear.

[Bug 337116] [NEW] xserver crashes at random on Asus eeepc 901, user returned to login screen

2009-03-03 Thread Jan Sundman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

output from lsb_release -rd:

Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release:9.04

output from apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel:

Expected result:
I can use my eeepc 901 witout being afraid data will get lost.

Actual result:

I find my Asus eeepc 901 crashing at seemingly random intervals, it can
take a couple of minutes or a couple of hours and it happens even when I
have no special gnome desktop appications running. What happens is that
the screen suddenly just goes black and I find myself at the login
screen.

I am using jaunty with the latest updates, but this problem also
occurred when using ubuntu 8.10.

When I look at the logs (syslog) I can see the following entries at the
exact time of the crash:

2009-03-03 Thread Märt Suga
Public bug reported:

Hi,

My Dell Latitude D620 crashes right before loading gdm (black screen and
absolutely no screen activity) though, only syslog shows minor activity after
crash. This problem first occurred today after upgrading kernel to 2.6.27-13.
2.6.27-12 still works with no problems.
My version is Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid.

I attach some logfiles.

[Bug 335603] Re: nautilus file copy dialogue does not close after completing the operation

2009-03-03 Thread Victor Osadci
I got a similar stuck window when dragging a web page favicon from

shortcut to that web page. The attached screen shot is the result I got
now. The shortcut was not created.

I tried reproducing, but it worked afterwards, and the previous window
disappeared too.

[Bug 337119] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties flashes screen background when changing icon sets

2009-03-03 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When I change the icon set in gnome-appearance-properties, the
background on both my monitors goes white for a second or so before
changing back to the correct background.

On my VM running the same software, the background changes to brown and
then back to the selected image, so it seems that gnome-appearance-
properties is clearing the background image and then resetting it.
(However, I have the background colour set to the same brown in the host
OS, so I don't know why it flashes white.)

This also happens at times during an apt-get upgrade.

This happens with and without compiz enabled.

It's a relatively recent regression, since it didn't used to do this.

[Bug 337117] [NEW] Desktop freezes after changing monitor resolution

2009-03-03 Thread Sandgroper
Public bug reported:

I own a IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop. I have installed 8.10 as a dual boot
with Windows XP sp2. I have noticed twice that when I have experimented
with the screen resolution in Unbuntu 8.10, and back to the orginal 1024
x 768, the desktop freezes. A part of the dialog box for the screen
resolution still appears. The trackball mouse still is active. However,
there is no way that I can navigate through any programmes, the drop
down menu or to attempt to shutdown. The only way I can solve this
situation is by removing the laptop battery.

I think you did the patch for pidgin-libnotify. Are all these messages
expected during normal use?

Thanks

[Bug 337071] Re: Replace Move to Trash with Empty Trash for the Trash

2009-03-03 Thread Kristopher Ives
 Is this reproducible?
If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
Yes. Use gconf-editor and search for trash_visible key and set to true. The
Desktop will have a Trash icon. Right click this icon and observe the menu.

Could you take a screenshot showing the issue?
The first screenshot is of right clicking the Trash icon, and the second
right-clicking a file to delete. You can't delete the trash, so I think the
option shouldn't be there and instead the empty trash option.

[Bug 336915] Re: wireless-crda breaks capability to connect hidden wlan

2009-03-03 Thread syscon-hh
In the package wireless-crda_1.6

the file /lib/udev/rules.d/85-regulatory.rules

is incomplete, now:

# Runs CRDA for kernel wireless regulatory events.
# For more information see:

KERNEL==regulatory*, ACTION==change, SUBSYSTEM==platform,
RUN+=/sbin/

last line should be:

KERNEL==regulatory*, ACTION==change, SUBSYSTEM==platform,

Changing these as work-around, the hidden network is functioning as

[Bug 337128] [NEW] thank you

2009-03-03 Thread johndevbl...@yahoo.com

I just want to thank you guys for a brilliant piece of software.
I am listening to Garbage using your Rhythmbox player running under Ubuntu
Linux v 8.05 (intrepid ibex)
on my compaq pressario laptop using a pair of old earphones.
The sound quality is amazing on cheap hardware.
The visualisation GOOM what a GOOM is just amazing.

I dual boot windows xp and the result with windows media player is not
nearly as good.

I think that is all about the ALSA linux sound driver.
I don't really know. You certainly don't need to spend a lot of money on

[Bug 337126] [NEW] New flup upstream bugfix release

2009-03-03 Thread Russell Cloran
Public bug reported:

The current python-flup in Hardy, Intrepid and Jaunty is 1.0

Upstream have released 1.0.1, which improves how SCRIPT_NAME and
PATH_INFO are extracted from the environment. This fixes problems I've
been having with flup.

I've uploaded a package to my PPA,
https://launchpad.net/~russell/+archive/ppa

This is a trivial version bump -- the old patches still apply, but
should be regenerated because the SOURCES.txt has had a minor change
which means that the 1.0-1 patch requires some fuzz to apply.

[Bug 331008] Re: Cursor position is automagically changed/selected

2009-03-03 Thread Luciano
I have a Windows XP installed on the same laptop and it works as usual.

1) Yes, my hands aren't typing the touchpad (if this is the problem, why
doesn't have the same problem on Windows?)
2) The laptop is new, i bought 2 months ago.
3) Yes, this work, so i guess is a bug.
So, the only solution is to plug a mouse? It isn't a bug?
Thanks

[Bug 333766] Re: linux packages in hardy-security FTBFS in a ppa

2009-03-03 Thread Stefan Bader
It looks a bit mingled in the report, but:

abinum = 23

This means the ABI is 23, so as long as your kernel build does not
change things that cause kernel functions to have different arguments or
to vanish, you won't need to do the other packages. But if you do, you
would have to rebuild them in the order kernel lum (if this exists for
that release), lbm, lrm. Maybe the following page explains it better:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMaintenance

Your output:
prev_revision = 23.48ubuntu1~kg0
revision = 23.48ubuntu1~kg0ubuntu1

This looks like you already (at least) two more release entries in your
changelog. In that case the abi files are expected in
debian/abi/2.6.24-23.48ubuntu1~kg0. The location _always_ changes when
you add a new release.
