Same device here, also I2C errors on default 9.04 x64 install.

Updating firmware file to version 4.95 from http://www.otit.fi/~crope

compiling fresh v4l-dvb drivers from http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/ fixed

[Bug 377875] Re: [945G/GZ] no direct rendering after upgrade to KMS/intel-2.7.1

2009-05-26 Thread Marcin Giedz
I've got everything installed so I only changed modeset=0 but result was
still the same and I couldn't switch to VT. So I commented : #i915
modeset=0 from /etc/module and /etc/initramfs-tools/modules ... and I
can run KDM on 2.6.30-6 but obviously there is no KMS enabled. I'm
adding 2 Xorg logs - one Xorg.0.log is current session (no KMS), and
previous one Xorg.0.log.old (i915 modeset=1). Hope that helps.

What can I do next?

[Bug 375410] Re: Keybinding missing for quitting screen

2009-05-26 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Thanks for the report.

We've used all of the available F-keys.

See screen's help menu: ctrl-a ?

There, you should see the "kill" command for closing a single window,
ctrl-a k

Also, you should see the "quit" command, for closing all windows and
killing screen, ctrl-a \

While these are useful keys, I don't think they're the "most" useful.

What would you suggest binding them to?

[Bug 379836] Re: xubuntu 9.04 keyboard frozen after installing OO

2009-05-26 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in openoffice.org.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the
Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are
having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 380616] [NEW] why not to add "vpnc additional options" field?

2009-05-26 Thread nikolko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

for example, I need to run vpnc with "--vendor netscreen", but there is
no such a possibility! I suggest to add field, which contents will be
added to vpnc startup script. Thus, we can get rid of many questions
like: "how to add this option from vpnc?"

for example, vpnc has support for quite a lot of optional params, like
in my case:

khrus...@homepc:/$ vpnc --long-help|grep -i vendor
  --vendor
  vendor of your IPSec gateway
  conf-variable: Vendor

If someone has something against this idea (in order not to complicate
task for most users), than an instruction of how it can be made with
gconf-editor is higly appreciated... Right now I didn't find any
description that it is possible.

I'll have to check that out, I'm surprised at myself that I didn't try
the drivers at Nvidia's site. At nvidia's site I only see the 180.51
version; is that the one you meant? I will still try it since the one
in ubuntu's repository is version 180.44. I believe the hanging doesn't
happen using xorg's nv driver, but I'll double check. I'll let you know
how things go.

[Bug 369460] Re: No audio recording on Thinkpad T61p, in any application

2009-05-26 Thread dmoyne
After further investigation I realized that I had to use "Configure
channels" in Kmix to bring settings for microphone input ; now I can
manage full sound settings with Kmix with microphone ; if I open gnome-
volume-control record with microphone is muted so apparently now the
conclusion is that gnome-volume-control is somehow problematic as
whereas Kmix shows microphone input unmuted gnome-volume-control shows
it muted.

Now with Kmix I have audacity and skype working.

A humble apology is in order. My poor internet connection isn't helping

just wishing to try it out. I retrieved my menu's by sorting my hidden
files, and found in /home/ben/.gconf/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk-
modules an xml file which - when removed, gave menu's back. I tried it
out for a while and after deciding it's not for me, I disabled the

2009-05-26 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thanks for reporting this issue. I installed cutecom in fresh installs
of Ubuntu 8.04 and Xubuntu 8.04. Neither one adds it to the menus.
However, Xubuntu 8.10 did add cutecom to the menu under Accessories.
Ubuntu 8.10 did not.

This appears to be because cutecom adds its .desktop file to
/usr/share/applnk/Utilities/cutecom.desktop which is not picked up by
the menu configuration files.

Any idea?

[Bug 253286] Re: kdevelop project was broken when going to 8.10

Hello,

Just installed ubuntu and apt-get installed kdevelop. I have the above
problem. Unfortunately overwriting ltmain.sh from
/usr/share/libtool/config/ does not fix for existing projects. Also,
downloading the posted file incadmin.tar.gz to
/usr/share/apps/kdevappwizard/ does not resolve the issue for newly
created projects. Seems from the above that I'm the only person not
able to resolve this with the work around? What am I doing wrong!? Any
advice on how to investigate.

Thanks

[Bug 378406] Re: Help and Support does not work

2009-05-26 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-
file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where
_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 362203] Re: Skype high CPU use on 9.04 using pulse (and audio recording/sending delay >5sec)

2009-05-26 Thread Vitaly
Thomas, to change the setting of sound in your computer you can use the main
menu (usually on the top of screen) chose System, then Preferences, then Sound.
In the window, which opens, in the bottom you will see "Default mixer tracks".
Change "device" to HDA Intel (Alsa mixer).
Above this part in the same window you see "Sound capture" and ..."test". Check
if sound recording works well (press "test" and say something in microphone.
You must here your voice playing back).
Then open skype options, find "sound devices" and change "sound in", "sound
out", "ring" to HDA Intel. This solved problem for me.

[Bug 380640] [NEW] new kile partially forgets shortcuts

2009-05-26 Thread ponchik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kile

strangest thing if you do "find & replace" in kile after defining a
shortcut (I use the old Alt+6) for pdflatex, the next time you use the
shortcut you will get the message

"Ambiguous Shortcut Detected: The key sequence 'Alt+6' is ambiguous. Use
'Configure Shortcuts'
from the 'Settings' menu to solve the ambiguity.
No action will be triggered."

additional comments:

1. find and replace initiated by the shortcut Ctrl + R
2. shortcut is not actually gone; accessing the Build --> Compile --> pdflatex
command shows that the shortcut is remembered (i.e. Alt + 6 appears in the
menu) and clicking it from the menu resets the shortcut
3. i have repeated the bug 3 times.
4. this is yet another pleasant surprise in the 9.04 upgrade -- on top of the
surprise that kile now has NO preprogrammed shortcuts and the toolbars are all
gone
5. kile's report a bug wizard produces this error on mozilla:

Secure Connection Failed

bugs.kde.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate expired on 05/25/2009 01:39 AM.

[Bug 379079] Re: Can't burn a DVD in Brasero Disk Burner in Ubuntu 9.04

2009-05-26 Thread HNT
Hi,

I have the same problem. My DVD Burner used to work with 8.10 or Debian,
I don't think the problem is hardware related but I guess it's a
software problem - so that might impact a lot of users.

You can also find in attachement the result of brasero --debug.
You may also notice that the debug.txt file show several cases where brasero
complain about symlink (mkisofs being a simlink to genisoimage and cdrdao being
a simlink to wodim).

2009-05-26 Thread Luc1972
Just to confirm that if under Power Management options on Battery Power
section you untick "Reduce Backlight Brightness" and "dim display when
idle" and also for on AC Power section untick "dim display when idle"
this does not happen at all unless you manually dim the display; even if
you remove AC power it will not change resolution.

[Bug 104745] Re: acpi power state changes result in corrupted display [Toshiba Portege R100]

2009-05-26 Thread Luc1972
I too experience this. The only reason it occurs on ACPI events is the
system automatically dims the display to conserve battery life; if the
dim option is turned off then it doesn't happen. Thus this is not an
ACPI event problem rather a problem with how the system dims the
display.

The problem is resolve on my 32bit box. The 64bit shows the same tearing
though. Maybe this fix wasn't incorporated in the 64 bit package?

I'm not surprised that there were no build problems, because the
needed libraries are shipped (pre-compiled, as .jars) in the lib/
directory of the JabRef tarball.

This doesn't not work under Debian Policy, that's why we need to
create packages for all of them.

(Please note that I can't make any statements about Ubuntu policy.)

Cheers,
gregor

[Bug 362203] Re: Skype high CPU use on 9.04 using pulse (and audio recording/sending delay >5sec)

2009-05-26 Thread soro2005
Vitaly, this is not the right place for this type of discussion. This is
not a support forum, but a bug tracker. We have all understood that you
can prevent pulseaudio from using excessive CPU cycles by not using
pulseaudio at all. We don't need further email notifications specifying
just that. Thank you!
