Re: [Bug 668602] Re: Update manager does not works as needed
Thanks for your swift reaction. I'll answer your question a bit later, cause right now I'm far from the computer with the Ubunto installation that showed the bug. Now only I can say, that I made exactly the actions described in the "Help" provided - by the menu. It's needed to say, that before the later, I made the overall uptating through the command-line "sudo". This operation was recomended by some site, which I found after a failed trial to install the packages java-sdk, eclipse, netbeans and anjuta. I did that cause all my attempts to install these packages from the corresponding links in the "Help" inadvertadly produced the error-dialog, something like "the package not found". More details - later. Truly, Emil. [Bug 358654] Re: udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured
I have just encountered this problem too. I am running Kubuntu 10.04 on VMWare Player 3.1.2 on a Windows XP Pro machine. Kubuntu performed the updates and then I got the udevadm trigger... report. I am facing issues with the various suggestions here and elsewhere though. After the udevadm trigger message it drops to the initramfs command line ls /boot simply says no such directory I have the kubuntu iso mounted within the VMWare player however, when rebooting the Kubuntu VM, there is no repsonse to the F2 or ESC key so it passes straight through to the udevadm trigger message everytime (the VMWare restart screen does appear for a second or so with the message at the bottom re F2 for SETUP, F12 etc. ESC for Boot Menu). I'm a little stuck as to ideas as I'd rather not lose that Kubuntu VM setup. [Bug 574432] Re: Lirc unable to initialise IR portion of Mplay Blast VFD (Zalman HD-135 case)
I've found a workaround. At least it works for me and I honestly don't know why it does. As mentioned in the description it says that the only way to initialize the IR portion is by booting up a Windows VM and doing it from there. I've found; however, that all I have to do to get it working after booting up is to enter "screen /dev/ttyUSB0 9600" in the terminal. It will fail to open up a screen to the device but it appears to wake it up such that IR, as well as the VFD on the HD135 case, starts working. The 9600 part may be incorrect but it doesn't seem to matter as long as it wakes it up. Taking this a step further I edited the /etc/rc.local file and added the "screen /dev/ttyUSB0 9600" line there so that it "initializes" it upon boot up. -- Lirc unable to initialise IR portion of Mplay Blast VFD (Zalman HD-135 case) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have resorted to booting the machine on the 2.6.32-26-generic kernel with the disk "compatibility" mode... despite the fact that I have all of the maverick packages loaded. [Bug 575465] Re: unable to use mouse buttons to trigger events in mangler
I spoke with the Xorg devs on IRC and this patch has been set for pull request in upstream's master git. However, Ubuntu needs to backport this to 10.10 and update. I do not plan on maintaining a PPA for this fix now that upstream has corrected the problem. This bugfix consists of moving two lines of code. When I didn't get a reply to the above, I opened a "question" ticket at https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/127856. I also tracked down the ModemManager developers at http://www.betavine.net . Ok no problem. If you booted the live cd and there was still a problem obviously something is wrong with the router or the OS itself. [Bug 668297] extragear/sysadmin/libqapt/src
SVN commit 1191219 by jmthomas: Use libapt-pkg's pkgCacheFile for a bunch of cache-related stuff inside QApt::Cache, rather than rolling our own. This results in the nice loss of 51 lines of code. The class will stay due to the trustCache stuff it implements (and obviously binary/API compatibility) Whenever the need arises for a QApt2 (API break) this will likely become a thin(er) wrapper over the pkgCacheFile, with its main objective being to provide a Qt-style API. (Hopefully a trustCache solution will make it in to APT in the meanwhile, so that we and synaptic don't have to have two imlementations) But, in the meantime, less stuff to maintain/worry about breaking. :) CCMAIL:668...@bugs.launchpad.net M +10 -62cache.cpp --- trunk/extragear/sysadmin/libqapt/src/cache.cpp #1191218:1191219 @@ -22,11 +22,7 @@ #include -#include -#include -#include -#include -#include +#include namespace QApt { @@ -45,34 +41,20 @@ { public: CachePrivate() -: mmap(0) -, cache(0) -, policy(0) -, depCache(0) -, list(new pkgSourceList) +: cache(new pkgCacheFile()) , trustCache(new QHash) { } virtual ~CachePrivate() { -delete list; delete cache; -delete policy; -delete depCache; -delete mmap; delete trustCache; } -CacheBuildProgress m_progressMeter; -MMap *mmap; +CacheBuildProgress progressMeter; +pkgCacheFile *cache; -pkgCache *cache; -pkgPolicy *policy; - -pkgDepCache *depCache; -pkgSourceList *list; - QHash *trustCache; }; @@ -92,51 +74,17 @@ Q_D(Cache); // delete any old structures -if (d->cache) { -delete d->cache; -d->cache = 0; -} -if (d->policy) { -delete d->policy; -d->policy = 0; -} -if (d->depCache) { -delete d->depCache; -d->depCache = 0; -} -if (d->mmap) { -delete d->mmap; -d->mmap = 0; -} +d->cache->Close(); -// Read the sources list -if (!d->list->ReadMainList()) { -return false; -} - -pkgMakeStatusCache(*(d->list), d->m_progressMeter, &(d->mmap), true); -d->m_progressMeter.Done(); -if (_error->PendingError()) { -return false; -} - // Open the cache file -d->cache = new pkgCache(d->mmap); -d->policy = new pkgPolicy(d->cache); -if (!ReadPinFile(*(d->policy)) || !ReadPinDir(*(d->policy))) { +if (!d->cache->ReadOnlyOpen(&d->progressMeter)) { return false; } -if (_error->PendingError()) { -return false; -} - -d->depCache = new pkgDepCache(d->cache, d->policy); -d->depCache->Init(&(d->m_progressMeter)); - d->trustCache->clear(); -if (d->depCache->DelCount() != 0 || d->depCache->InstCount() != 0) { +if (d->cache->GetDepCache()->DelCount() != 0 || +d->cache->GetDepCache()->InstCount() != 0) { return false; } @@ -147,14 +95,14 @@ { Q_D(const Cache); -return d->depCache; +return d->cache->GetDepCache(); } pkgSourceList *Cache::list() const { Q_D(const Cache); -return d->list; +return d->cache->GetSourceList(); } QHash *Cache::trustCache() const -- Does not work with preferences.d https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668297 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 666910] Re: Can not install addons
This is very odd indeed. And you couldn't download on a live cd either correct? If it doesn't have a negative effect on other computers in your area, could you perform a "hard reset" on your wireless router then try again? [Bug 668152] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 won't boot after updates
After days of uptime during which I installed several updates, I shut the system down, which it did fine. The next morning I attempted to boot and have not been able to since (this was four or five days ago). After choosing the kernel (any kernel), a great deal of trace information appears on the screen. I wish I had a way to capture it. This is what I transcribed by hand at the very end of the trace: 6.657817 sd 7:0:0:0 Attached scsi generic sg6 type 0 6.658041 sd 7:0:0:1 Attached scsi generic sg7 type 0 6.657817 sd 7:0:0:2 Attached scsi generic sg8 type 0 6.657817 sd 7:0:0:3 Attached scsi generic sg9 type 0 6.726048 sd 7:0:0:0 [sde] Attached scsi removable disk 6.726048 sd 7:0:0:1 [sdf] Attached scsi removable disk 6.726048 sd 7:0:0:2 [sdg] Attached scsi removable disk 6.726048 sd 7:0:0:3 [sdh] Attached scsi removable disk But I think all that is immaterial. Earlier in the trace it says something like "Attempting to mount /dev as boot - device not found", but I don't have the exact verbiage. That sounds a lot more suspect. I sure would like to know why I can't load Ubuntu from CD... Is there a way for me to single step the GRUB loader or otherwise add instrumentation?
