[Bug 705562] Re: ami-6836dc01 8.04 32 bit AMI kernel lock bug

2011-03-17 Thread Scott Moser
This represents the following 3 patches (attached to bug 730765), but applied
to the hardy kernel:
  http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/9/18/288
  http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/9/18/282

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=3588fe2e3f36543664beafedd3bb6dc3ffa896c5

Note that the third patch stacks over the change made in the first.

It might be useful to just build a kernel with these applied and test.

[Bug 735297] Re: Can not print on an SMB shared printer after password change

2011-03-17 Thread Theodotos Andreou
OK I now see what is happening. I commented out the AuthInfoRequired
line but I still get the problem. The issue is that the follow me line
still has the old password and it will not update it automatically after
prompted even when I click the Remember Password option.

That explains why it works when deleted. All entries are erased and
recreated when the new printer is created. But for whatever reason it
cannot update the password to an existing printer.

I think this is a serious bug that could affect the use of Ubuntu in
enterprise environments.

Not sure if I can confirm this is 'exactly' the same bug. But I'm on

running. Sometimes it's two youtube videos, sometimes it's Youtube with
a facebook flash game. But one thing for sure, it's certainly flash
running in firefox; I don't have this problem when running it in Chrome.

[Bug 514401] Re: Translations are not loaded for the test descriptions in Checkbox

2011-03-17 Thread David Planella
Jeff, thanks a lot for that!

I see you've marked the bug as Fix Released, but it seems that according
to comment #8, while the linked branch improves things (preserves line
breaks in the extracted transaltions), it does not actually fix the bug.

Did you have the chance to test whether after merging mterry's branch
translations are actually loaded? Otherwise I'd suggest reverting the
status to New, Confirmed or Triaged.

[Bug 736669] [NEW] Dictionary app takes user to French from Rhamnus catharticus link

2011-03-17 Thread James Robert Harris
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

In the Dictionary app, I looked up Sap, and there clicked the link Rhamnus
catharticus (a type of buckthorn plant) which inexplicably contains a large
portion on French and French things like French horn and French polish, as well

[Bug 718870] Re: [sandybridge] GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0x680b0000)

2011-03-17 Thread Lenar
Maybe I have another bug, but the kernels mentioned in #4 and #5 do not behave
any better.
Whole machine hangs during the first minute after logon to KDE. With those two
kernels it's so hanged I can't switch terminal and so can't see the error
message.
Even SysRq doesn't work.

Latest kernel I have not crashing or hanging is 2.6.37-02063701-generic.
2.6.38-1-generic (based on rc2 I think) is the next one I have which started to
show the problem.

[Bug 736618] Re: SMPlayer window creeps upward past global menu bar when unmaximized multiple times

2011-03-17 Thread Paul Sladen
Eric: as a work-around, you should be able to Alt-drag in the centre of
the window and move the whole window downwards.

I think this might be a dup of another bug where repeated maximising and
unmaximising gradually walks the window rightwards across the screen
aswell (and eventually off the edge of the screen), but I can't find
that.

2011-03-17 Thread Henry Charles Barfield
i have installed 10.04 64bit
i applied updates via Synaptic Package manager (got latest version of all
things)

now go to Electronics (universe), scroll down to qucs - this is what
you are searching for, and note that it contains the words Circuit and
Simulator

now you do not need to go back to ALL - Just type Circuit in the search
box and all items disappear.

If it is taking over 2 years to clear a bug, how long is it going to
take to do mine!!!

[Bug 329820] Re: Cannot start 2 instances of the flash player

2011-03-17 Thread Nicholas J. Alonge
I was unable to reproduce the problem with both flash player version 10.1 and
10.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. Since this is Ubuntu 8.10 and support will end
soon, and that it seems most likely a problem with the website(s) and not flash
player I am marking the bug invalid.
Thank You!

[Bug 736669] Re: Dictionary app takes user to French from Rhamnus catharticus link

2011-03-17 Thread James Robert Harris
Actually, it now appears that many entries in the Dictionary app are messed up,
containing parts of entries that belong under other words, sometimes in
multiple pieces, interspersed with part of the entry that was requested (is it
all there? how can we tell?).

Sole has part of the entry for Sol.

French has part of the entry for Sole.

Rhamnus catharticus has part of the entry for French.

Sol has a lot about the letter G (actually, these are related).

Red has a lot about Wine (actually, these are related). Ditto White.

Many words I look up have some error or such weirdness in them, and many
seem correct and complete.

IHTH

Jim

+ Dash: installed/not installed packages are conflated under Applications:
incredibly confusing

** Description changed:

When looking for applications, I search for Terminal and lo and behold,
there are THREE items that are simply named Terminal only one is the
correct one, which one is it? This kind of ambiguous naming could be
confusing for users. See attached screenshot.

  Package: unity-place-applications 0.2.38-0ubuntu1

[Bug 733766] Re: Date does not update in Clock in Panel in Unity

2011-03-17 Thread calinb
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 721572 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721572

Thanks, Alex. I'd be happy to help, if you can tell me which repository
I should enable to get the new version of Unity. My 10.10 system is
up to date with the current released or stable code. I've run apt-get
update, apt-get upgrade, and apt-get dist-upgrade since installing
from the Netbook Edition .iso. I assume I'll need to enable a testing
or dev repository or the Ubuntu equivalents to get a newer version of
Unity.

One problem I've noticed with communications regarding bugs on various
Linux OS projects is often what developers consider old code is
actually the current released or stable reposititory code. Devs are
usually a step or two ahead of the typical user reporting a bug.

Public bug reported:

This happens on my laptop when using additional monitor.
I think that there also may be xorg-intel-driver involved but I can see no
information in syslog nor xorg.log.
I'm attaching some screenshots of unity desktop.

2011-03-17 Thread Ralph Green
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 729394 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/729394

I tested the daily build after it was released on March 16. The ticket
that this is marked as a duplicate of noted that it should be fixed.
Since I was not using LVM, I waited until I could do an install to test.
The install went fine and this ticket should probably be closed.

[Bug 170225] Re: relative image paths instead of absolute

2011-03-17 Thread JazzyNico
@~suv - The image in your document uses href directly, and not
xlink;href as expected. Thus the issues is not due to an incorrect
pathname handling (it works if you use xlink;href with the same path)
but triggered by a missing NULL pointer test (needed when there's no
xlink:href attribute at all). Now it's fixed locally (I'll send a new
patch later, hopefully with other fixes).

[Bug 641471] Re: ipconfig -t 60 eth0 takes up 100% cpu

2011-03-17 Thread Nicolas Sebrecht
I've hit the same bug. I could resolve it with :

  # sudo update-initramfs -u

The dropbear installation process updates the initramfs. It works great
until you uninstall it as it doesn't re-update the initramfs.

The parent process of the hanging ipconfig was /scripts/init-premount/dropbear.
Please, fix it. ,-)

[Bug 729342] Re: Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 wont hibernate or resume from suspend

2011-03-17 Thread Greg
Even though I could not get any of the tune2fs commands to work, I tried the
other debugging command:
sudo sh -c sync; echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace; pm-suspend
The strange thing is it suspended perfectly with this command (tried it 3
times). When I tried to suspend from the menu in Indicator Applet Session or
the power button the bug would manifest. I tried these in kernel
2.6.35-27-generic and kernel 2.6.35-22-generic.
So I am not able to get a debugging trace, but the fact that the bug manifests
from the gnome UI and power button might throw some light.

[Bug 599017] Re: [gm45] Xorg freeze on Firefox on one particular page

2011-03-17 Thread Etienne Goyer
Confirmed to be with the kernel drm. With the maverick-lts-backport
kernel, we cannot reproduce the crash. Of course, it is non-
deterministic, so there is always the possibility that the bug is still
there, only less frequent. But after 50 refreshes of the offending page
and no crash, we are pretty confident! :)

[Bug 723016] Re: [FFe] Please merge new upstream release 1.6.7-1 from Debian Unstable

2011-03-17 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
Maybe you should consider using version 1.7.0-2. This version now uses
libudev instead of libhal. So the only remaining difference is the more
of the libpcsclite.so.1 library from /usr/lib to /lib

Also note that wpasupplicant in Debian experimental now loads
libpcsclite.so.1 dynamically when needed. So no need to move
libpcsclite.so.1 in /lib anymore. With this change the Ubuntu package
should just be the same as the Debian one.
