[Bug 853950] Re: ath9k disassociates when scanning

2011-09-24 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 858081] [NEW] logging out of gnome-session does not work with kdm

2011-09-24 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
Public bug reported:

with fresh updated oneiric using kdm and gnome-session (unity) makes
problems:

My son likes kde and as kde works better with kdm i installed kdm. With kdm,
only kde session can be closed as expected.
I can select unity session, but after logging out, i see no more kde greeter
and the empty background of my gnome session. I have to change to another
system console and restart kdm.

Kdm is the only window manager on my box, as with ligthdm installed ,
closing of kde session also ended without appearing of a new greeter.

The bug is still there and makes Skype not really usable. I think it
happens because of the animated Skype icon while logging in, the global
menu can't handle it.

[Bug 778289] Re: Help button in Unity default launcher

2011-09-24 Thread manny
agree this is not an Opinion, this has always been an item in ubuntu
till natty, you dont even specify reasons for a no-fix...

bad way to dismiss a valid bug specially when ubuntu lacks any kind of
guidance or introduction at all for a new user.

specially such an alien OS to the majority of people.

people dont use what they dont know how to use and go back to what they
know.

Education in any form is key.

This type of mentality is not going to get ubuntu anywhere near the 200
million users it wants...

[Bug 858081] Re: logging out of gnome-session does not work with kdm

2011-09-24 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
unity-2d session worked, full unity failed.

All unity sessions do not unlock my ssh key as i am used in my former
pure unity-system.

There are running two indicator-datetime processes eating all my 2 cpu
ressources.

This maybe has to do with akonadi-kde-resource-googledata not working (i
know for some users this service works).

[Bug 806773] Re: empathy crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2011-09-24 Thread Helge Jung
Previously, due to a hard disk error, libnss3.so was missing - which
caused nm-applet and empathy not to start. After a forced reinstall of
libnss3 both started working again yesterday but tomorrow, after my
system resumed from standby, I only got the message that empathy had
crashed.

So, maybe a standby (suspend-to-ram) can trigger this bug as well?

Generally, it crashes on Apple-generated EPS figures, and it does not
even need the PDF output for that. Screen display via

is enough to trigger the crash.

[Bug 858092] [NEW] Un-reviewed applications from a PPA have 1 star and 1 review

2011-09-24 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

I noticed this related to Photobomb in an article about Software Center.
This obviously puts application developers at a significant
disadvantage. I checked MyApps and it also showed that Photobomb was

[Bug 840696] Re: vino-server crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2011-09-24 Thread Philipp Michalschik
Any news or progress on this one? Since Gnome said that it is
Debian/Ubuntu miniupnp specific, no one over here seems to care?!

Vino-server worked well on my AMD E350 system as I first upgraded to
Oneiric about one month ago. But after some updates, it does not want to
start anymore. Since it was running on Natty, but did not redraw the
screen, it would be really nice to have it up and running in Oneiric.

Kind regards
Phil

[Bug 665785] Re: Support for zram (Linux 2.6.36) and ramzswap(2.6.35) is missing

2011-09-24 Thread Sergey Davidoff
In today's daily build Ubiquity had /dev/zram0 as a default device to
install the OS. WTF?!

Also, I've put together a zram-based swap that automatically scales
across several CPUs and automatically adapts to the amount of RAM
available. It's based on upstart instead of initramfs, and seems to work
fine for me. I haven't tested package upgrade though, so it might be
buggy. You can find the code at lp:~elementaryos/elementaryos/zramswap-
enabler

[Bug 858099] [NEW] apt-xapian-index package missing dependencies

2011-09-24 Thread Opaflamme
Public bug reported:

RELEASE: Oneiric Ocelot Beta2
CD/DVD VARIANT: 32bit Kubuntu alternate CD
I have used Kubuntu with alternate CD and command line mode - minimal
installation.
Then i update with apt to get last package version and have a bug with
apt-xapian-index :

apt-xapian-index: Building new index in background...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/apt-xapian-index.postinst: 46: update-python-modules: not
found

On my Natty install
- update-python-modules come from python-support
dpkg -S update-python-modules
python-support: /usr/sbin/update-python-modules
- deps for apt-xapian-index
Depends: python (= 2.4), python-xapian (= 1.0.2), python-apt (= 0.7.93.2),
python-debian (= 0.1.14), python-support (= 0.90.0)

On Oneiric deps for apt-xapian-index :
Depends: python (= 2.7.1-0ubuntu2), python-xapian (= 1.0.2), python-apt (=
0.7.93.2), python-debian (= 0.1.14), python2.7 | python2.6, python ( 2.8)

So i think that python-support deps is missing.

[Bug 778289] Re: Help button in Unity default launcher

2011-09-24 Thread Matthew East
It is inappropriate, and frankly rude, to close a bug without explaining
the reason why you are doing it. In the Ubuntu community we encourage
polite and respectful discussion.

I'm reopening the bug as a result.

Every bug report is a conversation with the reporter. The first contact
any reporter usually has with the Ubuntu community is through a bug
triager, who tries to put together a complete bug report. It's very
important that we give a good impression, so please be polite and try to
use your best English. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage

[Bug 858102] [NEW] cgroup service prevents VMWare services stopping

2011-09-24 Thread David Clayton
Public bug reported:

I recently discovered that I could not update VMWare Player - the phase
of the uninstall that stops the existing services would hang and
eventually the whole system would require a power reset. System would
also hang on shutdown under normal operation.

Uninstalling cgroup-bin libcgroup1 fixes both these issues.

I have set up cgroups on my 10.04 system as per:
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/11/alternative-to-200-lines-kernel-
patch.html and this seemed to be working fine until I discovered this
