[Bug 880876] [NEW] Unity causes ibus to not work correctly
Public bug reported: When using unity the ibus input does not work correctly for the Korean language. [Bug 880875] [NEW] GTali : 1st column flips when button text changes
Public bug reported: Dependending on the state of the Roll button and the language, the width of the the first column (which displays the dices) changes, with a bad taste for the user. Example : in French translation, the button is Tout relancer! at beginning of the play sequence, which implies a (quite) large column, and whe the user has deselected a dice, the button is Lancer, which means a shorter column, and this flip of the column (and the corresponding horizotal move of the dices) is really annoying (like a stroboscopic effect if the user deselects/reselects dices during play. I propose that the width of the column is fixed and could be resized by the user (to take in account some verbose translations, like the French one), in order to avoid the automatic multiple resizings described above... [Bug 880872] [NEW] [oneiric] [precise] ubiquity shows pink areas
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity When the gtk theme used is not Ambiance/Radiance Ubiquity draws part of the installer as pink blocks. I've been looking into it and I found that it is cause of the explicit use in code of css colors [1] which are defined in Ambiance/Radiance themes but they are not in other gtk themes like Adwaita. [Bug 880881] [NEW] Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status
Public bug reported: I have an EliteBook 8540w with internal and external battery running Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric). Linux 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The power indicator (indicator-power, version 0.9-0ubuntu2) does not combine the status of both batteries. E.g. if one battery still has 1 hour left, and the other has 2 hours left, it will show 1:00 or 2:00, instead of 3:00. E.g. When the external battery is almost run out (but the internal one is still charged), the indicator becomes red, instead of staying white/grey. It should only be red when both batteries are almost drained. E.g. when the internal one is fully charged, and the external one is discharging, the estimated time show is the estimated time that the external one will be discharged, not taking into account the internal one. see attached screenshot (total time show should be around 4 hours) The original applet provided by gnome (I re-enabled the notification area) does (still) have the behavior as I expect. In other words, this is a regression compared to 10.10 (pre-unity). ** Affects: indicator-power (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880881 Title: Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-power/+bug/880881/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 880886] [NEW] [Oneiric or Precise] Doesn't associated with mnemonic_widget property or accessibility related properties with some preference tool dialogs in GNOME Control Center application
Public bug reported: Dear Developers, I using Ubuntu Oneiric with Orca Screen Reader. Unfortunately GNOME developers doesn't associated lot of preference dialogs with the mnemonic_widget property or Accessibility related properties with real dialogue widgets for labels, and Orca Screen Reader this situation doesn't spokening a widget label with presenting the screen. [Bug 880882] [NEW] X starts with garbled screen, restarting X from cli fixes
Public bug reported: I am running an Asus eeePC 1101HA with a (dreaded) Poulsbo video card. I upgraded from Natty to Oneric, and X wouldn't start anymore. Under Natty I ran X with fbdev driver since the default driver would break suspend/resume. I had applied the fix from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsboAlternatives to get 1366x768 resolution. After upgrading and trying all kinds of things to fix this, the situation is as follows: - Apparently, under kernel 3.0.0.12, the 'correct' way to run X is with fbdev, which is accellerated by a kernel module of either 'poulsbo' or 'psb_gfx'. I have re-enabled the fix from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsboAlternatives to get native resulution, under either vesa or fbdev. (If there is some other driver comination I should try, please tell me.) Without this workaround I can only get 640x480 resolution. - I can start and run under the VESA driver, everything works fine but screen updates in video are sloow. - I can run the system with the fbdev driver enabled. If I do this X starts up with a garbled screen. How it is garbled depends on the exact settings I'm using, but one common way is that each row of pixels is shifted a dozen pixels or so compared to the row above it. I have tried this last fbdev setup with several settings: - I have tried blacklisting 'poulsbo' and/or 'psb_gfx' in all four combinations in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. If poulsbo gets loaded, X starts up with a garbled screen, but if I log into a console and kill X it restarts correctly. If poulsbo is blacklisted, X is garbled and stays garbled if I kill it. Disabling psb_gfx did not have any visible results. - I have played a bit with the GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX variable in /etc/default/grub. Different settings result in different ways the screen gets garbled, but otherwise there's no difference. Some settings of this variable cause even the text console to be garbled. I have also tried starting the system with the 2.6.38 kernel, which was the default before the upgrade, but to no avail. I suspect the problem is with the video mode transition from GRUB to X which somehow fails, while the transition to/from textmode works. (note: after startup, switching to a text console and back to X without restarting X does not fix the problem) I tried running a fresh Oneric from live usb, but it resulted in bug #880580. For completeness, after upgrade I also had a problem with sound, but that appears to be unrelated and has a workaround available (#825709). Re: [Bug 804595] Re: Sony Vaio VPCS132FX/B Ambient Light sensor does not work
Does this control just keyboard backlight only or will it enable the ambient light sensor to change display backlight as well since this is the full use of the sensor? I haven't tried your solution yet but I would still flag this as a bug if it doesn't control display backlight. I will report back later today On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 5:36 AM, Damian Beltrami 804...@bugs.launchpad.netwrote: Seems like this is a kernel issue, with users of other Distros experiencing the same problem. A fix is: Added file sony-laptop.conf with single line: options sony-laptop kbd_backlight=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/ and it seems to work fine now. Backlight for Keyboard stays on constantly with every key stroke and times out after a bit. Also Power Manager does not dim display when On Battery when the option is checked. This dramatically kills battery and makes the whole Intel IPM(Intelligent Power Management) patch useless There is a patch for the F Series posted on http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/. This patch only works with a plain linux kernel meaning I would lose all the Ubuntu related patches to the plain linux kernel. I'm sure It wouldn't be hard to apply this to a new kernel release. There has been support added for Macbooks with the same type of ambient light sensor hardware, is it possible that this can be streamlined to the Sony Vaio line? Closing since the brightness control itself works starting with Karmic as long as you've upgraded your BIOS to at least v.11CA. However, there are related issues which don't affect the brightness control itself: Oneiric users will find following bug 810093 useful. [Bug 880882] Re: X starts with garbled screen, restarting X from cli fixes
Additional info: I was not entirely correct about the poulsbo/psb_gfx blacklisting combinations. Poulsbo blacklisted and psb_gfx enabled results in a garbled screen that isn't even fixed by restarting X. All other combinations result in a garbled X that can be fixed by restarting X. There is a visible speed difference from enabling poulsbo. A third bug I had after upgrading to oneric is #880865, resume failure under kernel 3.0.0, but that appears to be unrelated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880882 Title: X starts with garbled screen, restarting X from cli fixes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/880882/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 880520] Re: internal system error Ubuntu 11.04
The PK APT backend is completely outdated, so this issues won't be fixed, I guess. You might want to switch to the APTcc backend (install packagekit-backend-aptcc and set the DefaultBackend in /etc/PackageKit/PackageKit.conf to aptcc) Alternatively, you can upgrade PK to a newer version. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment to this bug report it seems that there may be a problem with your hardware. I'd recommend performing a back up and then investigate the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. [Bug 206346] Re: evolution will not connect to exchange 2007 server
Same problem in Ubuntu 11.10. Using Gnome Shell 3.2.1, instead of Unity. I have been waiting almost three years, to switch from Mozilla Thunderbird to Evolution, so I can achieve tighter integration with Gnome, especially since 3.0 is now out. Yet, this is the only single problem that has been holding me from moving. I can not connect to my company's 2007 Exchange server with Evolutions, and I instead am required to use Thunderbird. I demand you fix this as a high priority. You're losing a huge market share, Exchange 2007 has been out for at least four years, you're behind times, and a massive amount of users (just a sample above) are getting frustrated by this error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206346 Title: evolution will not connect to exchange 2007 server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution-exchange/+bug/206346/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
