[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql
How is the progress on this, is anyone picking it up and fixing it? I mean, manual downgrading is not really an option and MySQL based auth within sasl is an important feature - how can this be broken so long time? [Bug 869017] Re: Ubuntu server enables screenblanking, concealing crashdumps (DPMS is not used)
Hi Fabio, This isn't about xorg - this is about the text mode screen console that the kernel provides. It seems to be driven by drivers/tty/vt/vt.c , and adding consoleblank=0 kernel parameter disables the behaviour. I'd suggest making that the default for the server edition. [Bug 910063] Re: Window of EOG does not has focus when opened from Nautilus
I've retested this problem, and it is slightly different than my original report. The first time, an image is opened from Nautilus by EOG, focus is correct. But when you return to Nautilus, and open a second image, focus stays with Nautilus. Running a fresh installed 11.10 system with the latest updates (even proposed). Tested on another 11.10 system (without proposed), also fresh installed. They act exactly the same. ** Description changed: - When an image is opened from Nautilus, thus starting the the standard - image viewer, EOG, this window does not has the immediate focus. A user - has to click into the window to move the focus to EOG. + The first time, an image is opened from Nautilus by EOG, focus is + correctly changed to EOG. But when you return to Nautilus, and open a + *second* image, focus stays with Nautilus. A user has to click into the + window to move the focus to EOG. This problem is especially cumbersome when EOG is opened maximized: a user can not see that the global menu which is unhidden when moving the mouse to the title bar, is *not* the menu of EOG (it is the menu of Nautilus...). When trying to close EOG, a user *actually* closes the former window (= Nautilus). Because the user see nothing changing (because a hidden window underneath is closed), he clicks another time and only then, the EOG window is closing. [Bug 910065] Re: Unhide launcher is not possible when a menu is open
I do not agree with the fact that a user could unintentionally open the launcher. Although this *is* a problem with the launcher (for that I've changed the launcher revealing time from 0.15 to 0.4 seconds), this is however not a problem in this particular case, I'll explain. When a user has opened a menu, normally by mouse, he will also use the mouse to actually choose a menu item: so the mouse cursor is always in the neighbourhood of the menu area. But when he decides to switch program (and thus neading the launcher), he intentially moves the mouse to the left side. The distance between the menu area and the launcher activation area (the left side) is that large, that this cannot be done unintensionally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910065 Title: Unhide launcher is not possible when a menu is open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/910065/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 910332] [NEW] Kernel wont load proper drivers for AMD A4/Radeon APU.
Public bug reported: I just bought a SAMSUNG NPV305 with a AMD A4 APU with a ATI Radeon HD 6480G integrated into the proccesor. Installing Ubuntu 11.10 was very difficult, normal Live CD would only turn off the screen, and nthing can be done. Tried the alternate install, but when install was full, everything got same results, screen was turned off. Tried the Fn/Alt+F4 with no results, but I discovered video worked with the HDMI video out, but Ubiquity would not be very useful on 640x480. Couldn´t change resolution. Still, I somehow managed to finish the install at low resolution, only to find LightDM would just restart everytime I wanted to login. However, Guest session worked. I finally managed to install fglrx driver via GeTTY, and after a reboot my screen worked at its native resolution (1366x768). Things I can´t fix are 1024x768 resolution on GeTTYs and on boot process, (I usually disable plymouth splash). I am using Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric 64-bit. [Bug 910343] [NEW] Home Folder launcher should launch default file manager
Public bug reported: The an app called Home Folder appears if one enters home into Unity's search (Home lens and App lenses, and no home folder is suggested) choosing this opens the user's home directory in Nautilus even if the user has set another file manager as their default file manager. This seems to occur because the Exec line in: /usr/share/applications /nautilus-home.desktop (a file owned by the Nautilus package) is set to nautilus . rather than xdg-open ., and because /usr/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop is the app entry with the name Home Folder I suspect changing the Exec line to Exec=xdg-open . should give the expected behavior regardless of the user's choice of default file manager (I tested and found this to work with my current default: Marlin) This seems to be a somewhat known issue as Ubuntu Community Documentation exists that suggests a work around of removing/editing the nautilus-home.desktop file from /usr/share/applications/ when changing default file managers, as per: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DefaultFileManager Similar changes/issues maybe be in nautilus-browser.desktop, nautilus-computer.desktop and nautilus.desktop (though I haven't needed to edit these files personally yet) tested with Ubuntu 11.10 (Arch:AMD64), Nautilus version: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu3.1 (oneric-updates) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910343 Title: Home Folder launcher should launch default file manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/910343/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also tried various other kernels: * 2.6.36-020636-generic FAIL * 2.6.38-8 (Natty) FAIL * 3.0.0-14 (Oneiric) FAIL * 3.1.6 FAIL * 3.2-rc4-oneiric FAIL My conclusion is that the problem appeared in the linux kernel somewhere between version 2.6.35-31 and 2.6.36. The problem is hardware dependent: WOL works fine on my ACER laptop with Ubuntu Natty (2.6.38-8)! My computer is an ASUS Pundit P1-AH2, with nvidia Crush 51PV chipset and AMD Athlon XP2. The ethernet driver is forcedeth. [Bug 910282] Re: pdf export distorts text
Reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.2 and 0.48+devel r10811 on OS X 10.7.2 Lion when converting text to path, Not reproduced with eithr version when keeping text as text (default setting). Possibly an issue with that specific font ('Ubuntu-title'). Any special reason to convert the text to path when saving a copy as PFD? Since version 0.47, Inkscape does _always_ embed and subset the fonts when saving a copy as PDF/PS/EPS (rather, the cairo library used for this does it) - the resulting PDF files can be viewed on any system without requiring the fonts used in the PDF file to be installed on that system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910282 Title: pdf export distorts text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/910282/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So, in order to get to the select PPD screen you have to wait for the driver search to complete. ** Affects: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: administration driver printer user-interface -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910358 Title: Add printer dialog won't skip driver search To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/910358/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 881376] Re: Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly.
Hi, I'm also affected by this bug, on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. In my case, I use a bunch of LVM2 logical volumes to store my files. Each volume holds a collection of related files, so its size intentionally fits its contents as close as possible : in order words, most of my logical volumes intentionally have as few free space as possible. If I need more space in a collection, I extend the corresponding logical volume. If I need to store a new collection of related files, I create a new logical volume. Those logical volumes are all specified in my /etc/fstab : as you can see, this warning can quickly get *very* annoying, as it pops up for every single collection I have. The following gconf settings don't have any effect : - /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/housekeeping/active = setting to 0 doesn't prevent the dialog to appear - /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/housekeeping/free_size_gb_no_notify = the granularity is too large (it is an integer, not a float) - /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/housekeeping/ignore_paths = correctly filled, but no effect : in my case, this setting would be the most useful, since I still want to be informed for normal file systems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881376 Title: Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly. [Bug 906171] Re: Swedish language package for Ubuntu 10.04 has no dependencies
I think it would be good if the problem can be prioritized because I've seen a number of people writing about the problem on Swedish Ubuntu forums and the problem doesn't give a very good impression of the Ubuntu operating system. People who are doing new installations of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS get much text in English instead of Swedish since the packets can't be installed. Even for people who already have 10.04 LTS installed since earlier (like myself), and therefore already have older versions of the Swedish language packs installed, it doesn't give a very good impression that Update Manager and Synaptic show that there are updates of the packets available but that they can't be installed due to missing dependencies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/906171 Title: Swedish language package for Ubuntu 10.04 has no dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/swedish/+bug/906171/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
