[Bug 994938] Re: NM indicator fails to show extant wireless connection; opening gnome-control-center fixes it
Thomas, there is no need to set bugs to New if they were automatically confirmed; confirmation can mean that someone else says they are affected via the Does this bug affect you? link at the top. keepitsimpleengr, it looks to me like wpasupplicant is having issues. Can you reproduce the bug regularly? If so, I'd like to see wpasupplicant debug logs. To do this, edit the file /usr/share/dbus-1/system- services/fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1.service as root and modify the following line: Exec=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -B -P /run/sendsigs.omit.d/wpasupplicant.pid -u -s -O /var/run/wpa_supplicant As: Exec=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -d -B -P /run/sendsigs.omit.d/wpasupplicant.pid -u -s -O /var/run/wpa_supplicant (add -d, to enable debugging) Reboot; then wait for the problem to be reproduced. This will log all the details from wpasupplicant to /var/log/syslog; so once you can reproduce the issue, make a copy of the /var/log/syslog file and attach it to this bug report. This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug report at bugzilla.kernel.org [1]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug. If you are comfortable with opening a bug upstream, It would be great if you can report back the upstream bug number in this bug report. That will allow us to link this bug to the upstream report. [Bug 1020081] Re: No WiFi in Quantal Alpha 2 on Ideapad s205 -- Ralink RT3090 rt2800pci
@ Thomas Hood. There are no doubt that this is a new problem that has appeared in Quantal. (on top of others) In Precise and Oneiric there are a conflict with acer_wmi (875659, still open), and the built in open source driver in Ubuntu have a network speed that is below 70Kb/sec. (896582, still open) Once, (after my last post and only once! - I tried) booting live session from an USB stick made with Unetbootin, there where Wifi enabled that could establish connection. I started three heavy downloads at once to get an impression of network speed( to check bug 896582). The network speed was not, as in Precise and Oneiric below 70Kb/sec. but very unstable going and up and down between blocked and 40Mb/sec. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020081 Title: No WiFi in Quantal Alpha 2 on Ideapad s205 -- Ralink RT3090 rt2800pci To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1020081/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 996764] Re: Donations
I'm impressed this hasn't been implemented yet. The Software Centre should definitely give this option to the user. An easy way to do it would be to make it possible, in the process of adding a software in USC, to add a link to a donation page. [Bug 1005839] Re: NM keeps asking for WLAN auth when dial-up networking connection is established
Hi Thomas, Somehow we're not seeing eye-to-eye. Let me try it another way. Inappropriate prompts are the problem. Prompts interfere with my work. The current NM logic doesn't seem to handle well the common scenario I described, and will pester me, and keep pestering me (unless I disable Wi-Fi, as you suggested.) It is not good for NM to interfere with my work, when I already have a functioning network connection. It is not reasonable for NM to prompt to disconnect a functioning connection, nor is it reasonable for NM to prompt the user to disable Wi-Fi. That is really not called for. Usually, if I have specified a DUN connection over a Wi-Fi connection, there was a good reason for it. If I choose not to switch from the established DUN connection to a Wi-Fi connection, NM should just accept my decision, but not *disable* anything. Maybe the term notification is the source of misunderstanding: I mean the modern, relatively unintrusive, non-interactive notifications, as opposed to an alert dialog or a prompt or the like. Again: If a functioning connection is in place, NM might *notify* me of the existence of a wireless signal, but not otherwise interfere with my work. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. I'm experiencing this bug immediately after login on Ubuntu Quantal 12.10 for x86-64, on a ThinkPad X200S with 8GB of RAM and an Intel graphics card. Steps to reproduce: 1) Update packages in the branch to current status 2) Reboot 3) A normal login screen is presented 4) Log in with your password Symptoms: Graphical controls don't start. Launcher and toolbar absent. Window management elements absent. Desktop icons are present. Underlying system is functional from the CLI. Mozilla Firefox is available if you launch it via the bug reporting tool. Document Viewer (evince) is functional, but missing the window bar. OpenOffice is functional. Stacktrace, segfault analysis etc. is identical with this bug except that the memory location is given as 0x0. Problems began with a similar failure, which produced a crash report relating to nautilus and saying that nautilus, libcups2, libgail-3-0, libgtk-3-0, libgtk-3-common needed updating. Updating relieved the nautilus crash and got rid of a nautilus trap int3 error from syslog, but replaced it with the compiz crash. [Bug 879173] Re: Wi-Fi connectivity interrupted by CPU high load; once load is reduced NM reconnects -- ath5k
Well, if wpasupplicant were to inherit the low niceness from the process, NM, which starts it then it might have had an interesting effect. But I just tried both the nice Upstart stanza and the nice command in the exec Upstart stanza and was unable to change the niceness level of NM as revealed by ps -eo nice, cmd, so it doesn't seem to be easy to play around with niceness of these processes to see if that has any effect (which would be interesting to know --- not a solution to the problem). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879173 Title: Wi-Fi connectivity interrupted by CPU high load; once load is reduced NM reconnects -- ath5k To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/879173/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1023012] [NEW] firefox does not save an attachments starting with dot
Public bug reported: When I download save a file and I change the name to start with a dot, it 0) prompts me to replace the existing dot file, if it exists, 1) removes the existing dot file, and 2) silently removes the dot and saves it with the name. I attached log extract of slapd server at loglevel any. On log I keep one successfull search done by confluence and one failed search. Note: on server log - if I understand log correctly - the client bind with version 3 of protocol... while error complain about not behind version 3...
