Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 1179297] Re: Cairo Dock crashes on Notification Area Mouse-Over

2013-05-20 Thread Fabounet
Hi,
what items do you have in the systray ? did it crash when you hover any of
them with the mouse ?
I think the best is to reproduce the bug and catch it with gdb.

2013/5/15 Matthieu Baerts matt...@gmail.com

If this was in fact corrupted data from D-Bus or GTK, would there be
 any way to verify this?

Yes I guess it's easy to verify this with GDB. (and with dbus-monitor
and 'cairo-dock -l debug' to have more debugs info)

A more likely cause would probably be that a corrupt indicator was
created, or something along those lines.

But I'm not sure that it's easy to do (I hope that it's not easy to create
 a corrupted indicator :) ).
If it's no longer possible to reproduce this crash, we'll have to check
the code and find where it can crash if the data are corrupted... not so
easy and maybe too much work if we can't reproduce it...
 @fabounet: any idea? :)

I'm going to modify the status to 'Invalid' but feel free to re-open
this bug if you've this crash again. (and of course feel free to report
any other bug or patch ;) )

[Bug 363961] Re: Guessnet hangs on attempting to run with ifupdown mode

2013-05-20 Thread Andrew Shadura
I guess you both haven't read the documentation. In ifupdown mode,
guessnet expects /etc/network/interfaces to be fed on its stdin. That's
why you think it hangs — as you haven't supplied any input to it.

[Bug 1181743] Re: package apache2.2-common 2.2.22-6ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: il sottoprocesso installato script di post-installation ha restituito lo stato di errore 1

2013-05-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

Specifically, it looks like you've modified /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/,
and created regular files instead of symlinks in there. It looks like
the maintainer script is refusing to touch your custom changes as it
cannot understand them, so you will need to fix up your Apache
configuration yourself.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to
your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1181085] Re: Sometimes system works too slow

2013-05-20 Thread n0dwis
I have tested kernels 3.10 and 3.9.2 and didn't observe this bug. So it seems
like it fixed. But both of this kernels works incorrect at my laptop - there
are problems when loading nvidia module. I can't even works normally. Maybe it
because of absence linux-image-extra package for both of this kernels.
This means that environment for stable system and tested kernels was different.
And I don't know if this matter on bug reproduce.

[Bug 1112652] Re: [raring] no ethernet with auto default power option with 82579LM

2013-05-20 Thread Adam Conrad
Based on quick testing here, this appears to be fixed in the current
saucy 3.9.0-2 kernel, so just waiting on the same or a similar fix to
trickle down to raring's 3.8.

[Bug 1181790] Re: looking in /usr/lib/cgi-bin instead of /etc/awstats

2013-05-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I cannot reproduce this on awstats 7.0~dfsg-5 on Precise.

I did:

apt-get install awstats
/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=yourdomain.ext -update

I got:

Error: SiteDomain parameter not defined in your config/domain file. You must
edit it for using this version of AWStats.
Setup ('/etc/awstats/awstats.conf' file, web server or permissions) may be
wrong.
Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in 'docs' directory).

So it looks like awstats.pl is looking in /etc/awstats as expected.

strace -eopen lists the following relevant file open attempts:

open(/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.yourdomain.ext.conf, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No
such file or directory)
open(/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.conf, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(yourdomain.ext, O_RDONLY)= -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open(/etc/awstats/awstats.yourdomain.ext.conf, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)
open(/etc/awstats/awstats.conf, O_RDONLY) = 3
open(/etc/awstats/awstats.conf.local, O_RDONLY) = 4

I then installed apache2, and set SiteDomain to example.com in
/etc/awstats/awstate.conf.

Then:

# /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=example.com -update
Create/Update database for config /etc/awstats/awstats.conf by AWStats
version 7.0 (build 1.971)
From data in log file /var/log/apache2/access.log...
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record...

Parsed lines in file: 0
 Found 0 dropped records,
 Found 0 comments,
 Found 0 blank records,
 Found 0 corrupted records,

Note that www-data cannot read /var/log/apache2/ by default. Are you
sure that your problem isn't just that you should be running awstats.pl
-update as something that can read the logs? I just used the
documentation you pointed to.

If this turns out to be a local misconfiguration, please change the bug
status to Invalid. Otherwise, please set the bug status to New after you
have responded.

[Bug 1181150] Re: Dashboard GUI down (HTTP 500 error) on upgrade from folsom to grizzly

2013-05-20 Thread Julie Pichon
You might want to disable compression and set DEBUG to True in one of
your staging/test environment (not production) to get more information
(this should display a stack trace in the browser).

Otherwise you need to collect the static content to avoid the file not
accessible error. See http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-
dev/2013-April/007770.html . These compression errors are probably
hiding the real problem.

I think perhaps you meant to link this bug to the horizon ubuntu package
rather than the ubuntu OS.

[Bug 1181106] Re: Failed to change profile to A2DP in 13.04 (Raring)

2013-05-20 Thread Christophe
If I understand well there are 2 bugs ?
#1 A2DP profile not selectable by Pulseaudio when Socket mode is activated. On
Bluez side according David, on Pulseaudio side according James.
#2 device that can't be paired when Socket mode is not activated, probably on
Bluez side

If the Bluez team deprecated Socket mode, then we should probably focus
on the second bug ?

Am I wrong ?

[Bug 1181953] Re: kernel bug related to my TV/capture card

2013-05-20 Thread boblinux
MY BAD !

it was not my tv card, but my WEBCAM : I was trying to run mplayer on
the webcam by mistake, but previously it would output a bunch of errors,
not just freeze the OS !

kamoso and cheese froze as well

actually, the webcam was plugged onto another device, and it seems that
this messed up the signals; as soon as I plugged the webcam on my MB,
everything was solved, I even booted with kernel 3.5.0-30-generic!

Problem FIXED !

[Bug 1181982] [NEW] Unity Tweak Tool: Hiding desktop icons triggers bug (frozen login screen is shown as background picture)

2013-05-20 Thread Marius Hofert
Public bug reported:

Go to Unity Tweak Tool - Desktop Icons - and set Icons on desktop to
OFF. Reboot and log in. The login screen freezes and is displayed as
background image on the desktop. This bug is described in various
reports (pretty much all marked as duplicates now) and can be found
here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/1115886

The solution is: dconf Editor - org - gnome - settings-daemon - plugins -
background - check 'active'
However, this is quite tedious (and should happen automatically when desktop
icons are hidden with Unity Tweak Tool)
to do manually if you want to hide/show the desktop icons temporarily (for
example during a presentation).

Note: This is on Ubuntu 13.04

[Bug 1181983] [NEW] Update to 1.2.3-0ubuntu2.1: Broken / Greeter won't start

2013-05-20 Thread roots
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.2 with Gnome Classic / Gnome Panel and LightDM
+ Unity Greeter on AMD64.

The recent update of LightDM from 1.2.3-0ubuntu2 to 1.2.3-0ubuntu2.1
left me with a command line login prompt after boot. It turned out that
LightDM will start neither Unity-Greeter nor LightDM-Gtk-Greeter. I
still can manually start X and then Gnome-Panel but the desktop
behaviour is not without errors.

I had to remove both lightdm_1.2.3-0ubuntu2.1 and liblightdm-
gobject-1-0_1.2.3-0ubuntu2.1 and replace the packages by the previous
versions (2 instead of 2.1), which restored full login and desktop
funtionality.

Any suggestions?!

[Bug 1072231] Re: Setting APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH does not work for GTK3 applications

2013-05-20 Thread Tsvetko
** Description changed:

  1) Detailed bug description
To start the application with the menu enabled in the application and the
panel, the following command has to be used:

  APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 appname

I recently discovered that this only works for non-gtk3 applications in
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, i.e. if you replace appname with applications such as
gnome-terminal, gedit, evince, etc. only global menus will be
displayed. APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH is simply ignored. However, if you
start, for example, gimp or inkscape by using APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH, both
global and local menus will be shown.

Here is a list of the applications that cannot be started with a local and
global menu:
  gnome-system-monitor
  gnome-terminal
  gedit
  nautilus
  evince
  empathy
  rhythmbox
  totem
  gwibber
  eog
  file-roller
  gconf-editor
  gcalctool

  * What you expected to happen
By setting APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH to 1, the selected application should be
launched with a global and a local menu.

  * What happened instead
The value of APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH is ignored by GTK3 applications. Even when
it is set to one, the selected application is launched with just a global menu.

2013/5/20 Robie Basak 1181...@bugs.launchpad.net

[Bug 1181084] Re: Unable to install previously purchased software in current ubuntu development release (saucy)

2013-05-20 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
The premise of this bug report is invalid: Ubuntu is not adopting a
rolling release. http://ubottu.com/meetingology/logs/ubuntu-
meeting/2013/ubuntu-meeting.2013-03-18-21.01.moin.txt

Furthermore, the updated period for non-LTS releases was reduced from 18
months to 9 months, because they are targeted mainly at enthusiasts. If
you want access to the maximum number of applications, you should stick
to the LTS.

2013-05-20 Thread Laryllan
I have the same problem on an eeePC 1215N, Ubuntu 13.04 32 bits.

I found a workaround to get maximum brightness back:
sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=ff

It resets the maximum brightness to maximum.
If it does not work for you, try another PCI device (find the adress with
lspci), like
sudo setpci -s 00:02.1 f4.b=ff

Re: [Bug 1181106] Re: Failed to change profile to A2DP in 13.04 (Raring)

2013-05-20 Thread James Tillman
I'm not really certain of the source by any means. My statement about
strongly doubting it was with bluez was based on general observations,
not an understanding of the code or how it works, so please don't base any
decisions on what I said. It seems to me that the developers of both
projects ought to take a look at the report and figure out who should fix
what. Why not tag the issue with both and see how it shakes out?

On Mon, May 20, 2013 at 5:06 AM, Christophe
c.baegert-launch...@lixium.frwrote:

#2 device that can't be paired when Socket mode is not activated, probably
 on Bluez side

If the Bluez team deprecated Socket mode, then we should probably focus
 on the second bug ?

 Am I wrong ?

 Title:
Failed to change profile to A2DP in 13.04 (Raring)

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
   Confirmed

 Bug description:
I upgraded to 13.04 recently and my A2DP profile, which had been
working great under 12.10 is suddenly gone. Neither my blueman applet
nor the built-in bluetooth manager applet can connect my external
bluetooth speaker to the A2DP profile. They can connect to the
   bluetooth device itself just fine.

   Steps I'm using:

   * using blueman, I can connect to the external bluetooth speaker and
view the device in the devices listing
   * I can connect the device to the Audio sink and I get a message saying
it is now connected and will show in the PulseAudio mixer
   * After connecting the external speaker to the audio sink, I can also
see the device in the Play sound through listing in the Sound system
control panel, but the icon has a circle with a line through it.
   * but if I right-click the device and choose Audio Profile from the
context menu and try to select High Fidelity Playback (A2DP) as the new
profile, I get an error message stating failed to change profile to a2dp

   I've already added Enable=Socket in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf,
without that I can't pair my headset. Now I can pair it, but I can't
   activate the A2DP profile.

When I try to activate it, I see this message in my syslog :
pulseaudio[2603]: [pulseaudio] module-bluetooth-device.c: Profile has no
 transport

I tried the kernel 3.9.0 because of a sound problem with my soundcard,
this kernel fixed my soundcard problem, but A2DP still doesn't work

Yes. By the book, this should be a new bug and this bug be set as

[Bug 1168582] Re: Google talk Requires Authorization after suspend/resume

2013-05-20 Thread TJ
I discovered that deleting the Jabber GTalk account and replacing it
with a full Google account solves the problem, so it looks like a bad
interaction with the gabble --- signond -- google-talkplugin
combination.

[Bug 1182019] [NEW] nm does not work after resume

2013-05-20 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
Public bug reported:

# /etc/init.d/network-manager restart
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service network-manager restart
initctl: Unknown job: network-manager

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the stop(8) and then start(8) utilities,
e.g. stop network-manager ; start network-manager. The restart(8) utility is
also available.

[Bug 1152736] Re: system swapping itself to death in raring for no good reason

2013-05-20 Thread cro
An update.

The swappiness is still killing my laptop. It seems to be explicitly
related to having Firefox running, especially if I have multiple windows
open, with lots of content.

Killing the Firefox process solves the swap problem and returns control
of the desktop and mouse, and allows me to continue working.

Here's my 'free' status when kswapd0 is using 100% CPU. In this
situation kswapd0 is using between 90 and 120% CPU according to `top`,
and everything else is under 5%, including firefox.

cro@zen:~$ free -h
 total used free sharedbuffers cached
Mem: 3.8G 3.3G 503M 0B16M 1.4G
-/+ buffers/cache: 1.8G 1.9G
Swap: 3.9G 274M 3.6G

Or, because text formatting is bad, of 4Gb swap, 3.6Gb is free, and I
have 500Mb of free RAM.

vm_swappiness is set to 0.

This happens to me on average more than once an hour when I'm working
(multiple windows/tabs open).

[Bug 760645] Re: Unity: a big part of many dialogs go outside of the vertical area of the screen on displays

2013-05-20 Thread bash321
It is a common bug on Ubuntu Systems with any version of UNITY
installed.

This is still an occurance on the latest development release of Ubuntu
Saucy and it should be RESOLVED ASAP. As there is clearly a design error
with gtk+ integration the file manager and open and save dialog windows
running on any gtk+ program in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1026254] Re: Open with on folders was removed, Ubuntu should consider patching back

2013-05-20 Thread deivid
I completely agree with comments #9 and #11. I used to have 'musicbrainz
picard' configured as an alternative app to open folders and would use
that a lot. Now I have to open it from a terminal as the same effect is
better done through select all in a folder. (comment in commit that
removes this option) is obviously not true.

Thanks @mc3man for the patch and the support (in ubuntuforums) on
installing it.

[Bug 734908] Re: Unity is visible on top of fullscreen apps

2013-05-20 Thread Roman
I can confirm.
Ubuntu 12.04, Radeon graphics card, single monitor.
In my case chromium was not affected and Eduards workaround described in bug
958353 works.
Having 2 accounts logged simultaneously I removed buggy behaviour for both of
them.
However:
In the first account in the same time when this bug appeared my launcher icon
size (horizontal size) has changed and became bigger. It become smaller again
after workaround.
In the second account launcher icons stay bigger (it's ok for me). When
applying workaround I had to type password blindly as Eduards described for the
second account, but for the first account screen become black and a proper
password window appeared.
I have no idea what triggered this bug.
After it appeared it was permanent in both accounts until now, I promise to
play with it when it appears again.
By the way, is it possible to change launcher icons size (intentionally)?

[Bug 1182027] Re: Cannot add widget to GTK# main window

2013-05-20 Thread IMBJR
I just moved the toolbox to the left side of the application and now I
can add widgets to the window. I had moved it to the right side of the
application previously.

This bug can be closed, but perhaps there's still an issue as to why
moving the toolbox about renders the drag-drop feature useless.

[Bug 1182027] Re: Cannot add widget to GTK# main window

2013-05-20 Thread IMBJR
Additional:

I f one carefully drags a widget over the blank window, avoiding passing
over the solution and property pads, one can indeed drag-drop a widget
from a toolbox that's been placed to the right of the application. This
is definately unexpected behaviour.

[Bug 1182036] [NEW] Gtk filechooser hangs with Terminus font

2013-05-20 Thread Atila
Public bug reported:

When I open a Save As dialog using Terminus as default system font,
the dialog just hangs, becoming blank, and freezes the application
(Firefox, Thunderbird, VirtualBox are examples).

But if dconf is configured with, say, Ubuntu 11 as default font, the
dialog shows normally.

I think the bug could be in the filechooser gtk code, but I'm not sure of that.
I don't know in which of the gtk packages the filechooser stays, but
libgtk-3-common (hope that's it) is at 3.6.4-0ubuntu8.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04

Steps to reproduce:
1 - Install the terminus font: # apt-get install xfonts-terminus
1 - Configure it as default:
# echo [org/gnome/desktop/interface]$'\n'font-name='Terminus 13' |
dconf load /
2 - Open Firefox Save As menu.
3 - Watch it freeze in blank disgrace.

To make it good again:
1 - Kill the freezed Firefox instance,
2 - # echo [org/gnome/desktop/interface]$'\n'font-name='Ubuntu 11' | dconf
load /

Or open dconf-editor, go to org/gnome/desktop/interface and change
font-name.
