[Bug 1729077] Re: wrong color of horizontally centered area of scan with CanoScan Lide 200
I have a CanoScan LiDE 100 but otherwise the exact same setup. I can fully confirm that this bug is caused by the new ibsane1 1.0.27-1~experimental packages and "fixed" by force replacing all sane packages with the 1.0.25 packages from Ubuntu 17.04. Somebody also posted this on askubuntu: https://askubuntu.com/questions/973526/thick-black-vertical-line-with- canon-lide-100-scanner-in-ubuntu-17-10 So there are multiple users affected indeed. What I wasn't able to confirm yet is if the current stable release of sane-backends 1.0.27 might fix this or not. You can get it here: https://launchpad.net/~rolfbensch/+archive/ubuntu/sane- release?field.series_filter= I also found an interesting correlation with this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1712997 This seems to happen also on the old drivers for this user but the visual artifacts are very similar. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1729077 Title: wrong color of horizontally centered area of scan with CanoScan Lide 200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1729077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1734147] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 corrupting BIOS - many LENOVO laptops models
I have the same issue on my Lenovo Z50-70. Only just noticed, as have been running 17.10 since late beta and haven't needed to touch UEFI. I've been running all manner of Linux distros on my systems for a decade and this is the first time anything has actually corrupted the hardware firmware (BIOS/UEFI). More fool me for installing a non LTS I suppose. I simply cannot afford to replace this machine at the moment, and from current reports it appears that come the next time I need to reinstall for any reason my laptop is, to all intents and purposes, bricked. Not amused. [Bug 1740150] [NEW] Allow GTK theming for Ubuntu Budgie
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Budgie uses gnome-screensaver for its lock-screen. By default, gnome-screensaver does not provide a GTK+3 based style class - thus the lock screen is not themed by modern GTK+3 themes. UB already has a patch (33_budgie_support.patch) that fixes a couple of issues. I have updated this patch to allow GTK+3 theming via the style class "lock-dialog". This allows gnome-screensaver to the themed in the same way as the gnome-screensaver fork mate-screensaver which uses the same named style-class. This has been tested using the GTK+3 theme adapta which has the MATE lock-screen style class "lock-dialog" . I will be separately updating arc-theme (the theme used by Ubuntu Budgie) to provide theming for both mate-screensaver and gnome- screensaver (for Ubuntu Budgie). Note - if its considered useful, I'm happy to rework this to move the style-class application to a separate patch to allow all desktops that use gnome-screensaver to be equally themed. However I've only tested this patch on Ubuntu Budgie and hence have restricted the style-class application to UB. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: fossfreedom (fossfreedom) Status: In Progress ** Tags: bionic patch ** Patch added: "debdiff to update the UB patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740150/+attachment/5027559/+files/budgiestyle.debdiff ** Tags added: bionic patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740150 Title: Allow GTK theming for Ubuntu Budgie To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1740150/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1740143] [NEW] backport btrfs ssd mount option fix
Public bug reported: Hello, It appears that all kernels before 4.14 had a problem with btrfs ssd mount option. According to https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Gotchas#ssd_mount_option, it has a negative impact on usability and lifetime of modern SSDs. Since it is enabled by default when SSD is detected, it affects all systems with SSD drives. [Bug 1579454] Re: Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 runs ubiquity without root so it fails
Hello everyone, I´m trying to install Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.3 to my Asus Rog GL552VW, I´ve been able to go into the try option (I can enter and try ubuntu) but when I try to install, right after it officially starts (after selecting region, language, and which partition it will use) an error pops up, saying: System Program Problem detected, and the installations hangs eternally, I noticed the window that was about to open, the one that shows you random ubuntu stuff, doesn´t load (its right when its about to load when the error appears). I´ve found the /var/crash/ folder, and it says: total 15656 -rw-r——-1 root whoopsie 16005864 _usr_lib_ubiquity_bin_ubiquity.0.crash -rw-r—–1 root whoopsie 22082 _usr_share_ubiquity_plugininstall.py.0.crash Any help will be appreciated. [Bug 1706969] Re: JavaDoc reports warning for methods named is*Property*
After some more testing that seems to be an upstream openjdk issue as reported in https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8185424 [1]. Reason why it did only show up in debian/ubuntu builds is the patch: disable-doclint-by-default.diff. which defaults javadoc to -Xdoclint:none to avoid warnings. Adding that -Xdoclint:none option manually make the issue easily reproducible in a.) oracle binary jdk 8u151 b.) jdk8u openjdk mercurial checkout c.) not in oracle binary jdk 9.0.1 As i can't directly comment on the openjdk bug i asked in #openjdk to get that issue re-opened there and the info added. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706969 Title: JavaDoc reports warning for methods named is*Property* To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-8/+bug/1706969/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1732032] Re: ip maddr show and ip maddr show dev enP20p96s0 show different data
I had a super nice and detailed reply written here, but of course I lost it. Browsers are stupid things sometimes. So here are the comments that survived. TL;DR: firejail is known to fail on s390 because there is no thunderbird package for a mainframe. I emailed ubuntu-devel@ and also pinged #ubuntu-devel on irc. Switching the test bed from a container to a VM for s390 a while back allowed this new test to run. Others are green, with the exception of trusty: a) armhf: fails copying the device /dev/null elsewhere with -a, which equates to creating a device outside of tmp, which is forbidden. Last time this worked was when the test bed was on lxc in 2016. On lxd it doesn't work. The other architectures are not using lxd. We should probably add a constraint so that the test only runs in vms. Should it be added to the current SRU package for trusty? b) ppc: a grub error: Generating grub configuration file ... grub-probe: error: not a directory. run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 1 I pinged #ubuntu-devel about it, since I have no idea how to setup and run a ppc vm, but got no response: https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2017/12/07/%23ubuntu-devel.html#t19:33 ahasenack is there something going on with setting up ppc64el autopkg tests in excuses? [Bug 1740031] Re: REFIND can't boot ubuntu 18.04
Hello I found the cause and a way around the problem but it does not suit me at all. My disk environment is as follows: A RAID-1 storage consisting of two 500-GB disks. One of which is connected to a USB3 port. A 2TB internal storage disk. A 120 GB SSD containing software. In version 16.04, the SSD is always seen as being SDA. and the external drive is named SDD. In version 18.04 (and also 17.10) The external drive is named SDA and the SSD is named SDB It is in this context that I can not boot and that I have the incident indicated. In version 18.04 (and also 17.10) if I put the external drive in power OFF mode, I will be able to boot normally because the SSD will be seen as SDA. However RAIDS1 will be out of order. It will have to be repaired. This is not satisfactory. [Bug 1739981] Re: package samba 2:4.5.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.17.04.8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu. Could you please provide the following: - output of sudo systemctl status smbd.service nmbd.service samba-ad-dc.service - all files from /var/log/samba that start with "log", i.e., /var/log/samba/log* - your samba config file /etc/samba/smb.conf You seem to have configured samba to run as an AD server (that's the samba-ad-dc service) and that service has failed to start. I'll need the above information in order to diagnose the problem.
